For those out there who aren't into Dubstep, just know that it's linked to UK Garage and Grime. Those forms of music are pretty big over in the UK (acts like Artful Dodger come to mind), but that was never my vibe. I've always been into Dub, and the shit I'm hearing cats like Slaughter Mob and Skream do is mind boggling. It's fucking minimal as hell, but with the sub bass and a nice vibe. Reminds me of some of the things I like about the Iration Steppas and Dub producers of that ilk. Really influenced by Reggae soundclash aesthetics and shit.
Don't trip though... there are other guys, like Vex'd and Pinch, who are coming into their own, with ill 12" releases on ยต-Ziq's Planet Mu record label. Check for those.
