Weezy Got Tha Leak

Hello Lil' Wayne. Mind if I call you Weezy? I didn't think so...

I just read your latest interview with MTV, advising that you are going to leak Tha Carter III, then you're going to release Tha Carter III in Feb. 2008. All well and good, go get your paper my dude. Your reasoning is what concerns me:

Every song that was leaked is coming out on December 18 — and we have four new songs.

So you're going to re-leak leaked tracks? I understand that you're going to be revamping the tracks, finishing them and switching a couple of words up, whatever. But why call it The Leak if these joints have already been leaked? Ghostface had a GANG of cuts leak before Fishscale (and pretty much all of his albums) came out, but the retail wasn't something different, it was just Fishscale. As a matter of fact, he must have had loads of material, for he later dropped More Fish at the end of last year. You're just putting out Tha Carter III; it just doesn't make sense to me.

It sounds like you're trying to capitalize off the leaks. But instead of dropping mixtapes, you're trying to cake off of the consumer. You're essentially asking us to buy everything we leaked, under the guise that you're going to "finish" the tracks we've already played to death. Just say that. Don't wrap up the tracks in some fancy "leak" package and think you're capitalizing no us. You will, but I digress...

The funny thing about this? Your tracks leak. You release them on CD anyways... guess what? They gonna get leaked AGAIN! And the fucked up part is, what is going to be on Tha Carter III that's dropped in Feb. 2008? Will this be a whole batch of NEW tracks?

Weezy, I'm confused.

"That's Not Hip-Hop, That's Flip Flop"

I'm sorry, who are you? Anyone posing as the Hip-Hop Government needs to show me some credentials, especially if you are telling my people how to wear their dungarees. If I started a "Emo Government", and made placards saying shit like "Hey man, that's wack - I can see your sack!", I'd be a fucking asshole, ignorant bastard and would probably get trumped up on hate crime/obscenity laws.

Looks, baggy pants and saggy pants is a style that's been passed down from Black people in prison (no belts, loose fitting, jail-issued clothes, you do the math). How come this so-called Hip-Hop Government doesn't try to get our people to realize that we need to work on getting our kids into better situations education wise, and safety wise. You can wear baggy pants and still go to college and be a doctor. Don't diss a nigga or a chick over the style in which they wear their pants. I don't sag my jeans, but I also like to have my nuts feel comfortable. Straight leg bullshit is for work purposes, and even then, I need them to be a bit roomy just so I'm not uncomfortable at work.

If you guys want these kids to stop wearing baggy pants... is your so-called Hip-Hop Government providing stipends to provide proper-fitting clothes to them?

On a side note, peeping this so-called Hip-Hop Government's website, it looks like this is the only thing they are about. There's two banners on all pages, and of course you can cop the above shirt (I love the "GET THIS JOINT NOW" on the buy page). You can also sign up and become a member, but there's no word on what being a member entails, exactly. We don't believe you, you need more people.

XXL covered this, as did a few other spots. I'm tired, and I feel for my people's in Dallas.

Metafore Word To Me EP [review]

I like hearing new cats. I love hearing that hunger, and I like being able to see a career ascend. It doesn't really work when a nigga sounds like mad other niggas in the game, though. This is Metafore's problem...

Off the rip, dude sounds like a Fabolous clone. The whole "head game" line could be seen a mile away, and this beat, which has a bit of a knock, doesn't really do much for this dude's style. I guess this is dude's attempt to have a lil' non-dancing nigga dance going down, but "leanin' low" isn't really poppin', duke.

This is a really serious Fabolous jacking. The whole "necklace gleam" and that female in the chorus sounds like vintage Fab... without the skills. I won't front, Metafore definitely has the talent, and knows how to ride on a beat. Very confident sounding bars, I just don't really see originality in his style.

"Stuntin' Is A Habit"
My review copy doesn't say who's featured on this track (Barricade?), but his ridiculously lazy flow makes it look like Meta is Jay-Z and this unknown MC is Bleek. I also thought it was odd that they both kept jackin' lines from the chorus into their rhymes, as if they pulled a lil' too hard from the L and got sloppy.

"Have It Your Way"
Dude is 18 speakin' like he can really "do it aaaaaall night". He doesn't sound like he has any hair on his nuts, but he makes it seem like this is the last stop. Sounds more like a track that would make you sleep... not something you'd want to mash a chick out to. And this is the 2nd "squirrel trying to get a nut" reference in a 5 track EP!?

"Dreams (Nobody Really Cares)"
Wow, a beat on this release I actually like? That old soul loop really does what it needs to do, and Meta spits like he's supposed to. More introspective, more potent. Real. Loving this one.

I can't help it. Dude is 18, and sounds very promising. He obviously has skills on the mic, and knows how to rock varying beats. Is he ready to take the crown, or even be in constant nationwide rotation? Not in my opinion...

rock the dub gives the Word To Me EP 2.5 out of 5 stars. You can hear the talent, but it's overshadowed by tired lines and mimicry that is unnecessary for someone with such obvious talent.

NYG'z Welcome To G-Dom [review]

While I've always been a fan of the NYG'z, I've never really listened to what they were saying. It was always about "the beat, the beat, the beat", but when DJ Premier is on the boards, how can it be about anything else? Here is my track-by-track attempt at giving the NYG'z the respect for their mic skills with their "street-album" Welcome To G-Dom, on Primo's label Year Round.

"Itz On" (ft. Rave)
I just realized I don't know who makes up the NYG'z. I know its two niggas, but I see this is featuring some nigga named Rave, and I don't know how to tell them apart. At least M.O.P. will say their names in their rhymes. Very ill intro beat from Preem though: so simple, but he makes it sound so beautiful. Word to wanting Mayor Dinkins back, but I don't know what awards show would be giving the NYG'z 'Best Album' honors - no disrespect, I'm just saying, look at the industry.

"Ya Dayz R #'d"
Instant lovely string funk from Preem; peep how he flipped the intro strings and took it to another zone. Seems like the NYG'z don't want to speak on their streetlife, but that grit is in their spit. I wonder how ill it has to be to hear that bomb ass Premier instrumental and be like "wow this is MY TRACK". I like the bit about dude talkin' about having his casket standing "so the critics can kiss my ass". Made me smile. (OnSmash has the video HERE)

"3 Man Weave" (ft. Reef, Hustle & Mic Ock)
Who are these niggas? The piano sample in this one is slick. This guy Reef is alright, but its not anything I've not heard X amount of times from X amout of MCs. LOL @ "I feel like we dry snitchin', we telling y'all too much". These guys are funny. WTF are their names?!

"Laundry Kings" (ft. St. Laz)
HAAARD track, got the wild trunk-rattlin' bass. That piano loop can be grating at times, it seems kind of loud in the shit. I call shit like this "drive-by music", or shit you'd hear coming from some nigga's whip whilst in drive-by mode. The title refers to laundering drug money, I think. This guy St. Laz sounds like he doesn't have much to live for. I think the one nigga's name in NYG'z is Pants? I remember the "Hiney" interlude from the last Gangstarr LP, and he kept saying that. Weird.

"Sufferin'" (ft. Rave & Fizzy Wo)
Fizzy Womack! That nigga looks like an ugly midget. He spits fire, and his beats are Primo-lite. This beat is weird, that sample with the fucking jingle bell? Bananas. It's dope to hear Fizroy get introspective though. I don't know what it's like lookin' at a coffin catalog, but I can imagine.

"Get 2 Tha Point"
"Here's my button/nigga push it, we can rock all night" sounds WILD homo. Not really my favorite cut on this - that beat is mad sleepy. I like the "niggas" samples on the chorus.

"G'z & Hustlaz" (ft. Rave)
They revisit that Snoop cut of the same title from his debut album. Kind of surprised hearing Preem rock something so common and not flipping it. These cats ride the beat WELL! Outside of the streets, though, what are these cats about?

"Welcome 2 G-Dom" (ft. Rave)
Do these guys owe "Rave" something? How does someone with such a wack name get on so many cuts? Another snoozer.

"What Kinda Life" (ft. Raw)
I think it's odd that dude starts this out talkin' about "my life's the shit", when all they spit about is the trials of street life. Did he mean to say "my life's shit"? Them talking about "Arm & Hammer giving me my kickback" has already been done.

"Giantz Ta Thiz"
I remember this one! This is the way to flip shit I've heard before. The same sample for Jay-Z's "Ain't No Nigga" gets a proper rough re-rub, and the NYG'z air it out, sounding mad dated but I love it. Anyone shouting out "Dom Perignon and reefer" is NOT new school. This also has an interlude featuring 2Pac's interview on MTV from 95 or so. I love that "throwin' salami" shit.

"Bow Down" (ft. Blaq Poet & Rave)
Weird beat. Classic break with some flipped piano nonsense. I am tired of tired cliches.

"Broken Dreams" (ft. Imani Montana & Versatile)
WTF. This chick rhymin' sucks. This can't be a Preemo beat though. I mean this sounds like anyone could have done it, and better. Oh wait, another chick is on the mic? These chicks don't sound good. Where's the Lady of Rage when you need her?

"Raps 4 U" (ft. Boy Bucka & Harlem Fatz)
Minnie Ripperton samples are always welcome. I'm lovin' the "quiet storm" vibe on this one. Not too braggadocious, some nice wordplay. And who still sips Mo'?

"Bullseye" (ft. Troy Sluggs, Royal Flush, J.U.I.C.E)
I love the work on that vocal sample. Hypnotic beat, and that first verse rides it well. "Bullseye/direct hit don't miss" will now be stuck in my head all day. Shouts out to Royal Flush, btw.

"Black Buddafly" (ft. Rave & Aisha)
That "black buddaflyyyy" in the intro gets on my fucking nerves. They should have got someone else to sing that... or just left it the fuck out. I'm quick to hit fast forward b/c of that, but the pro-Black female lyrics are worth it. Deep beat, too.

"Strength"
This has one of those ill superhero feels to it; that 70's blaxploitation horn steeze to it. They glide on this beat so slyly, too. "It's that fiery hot shit" indeed.

I love that the NYG'z are so hood, so street and so underground. I wish they were at least 2D, though, because even Guru would switch up the lyrics over those Primo beats...

rock the dub gives Welcome To G-Dom a 3.5 out of 5 stars. If this project as a) an EP or b) more varied, it'd have scored higher. When they get it right, it's golden, though.

Save 2nd Base!

Does this clever (albeit poorly executed) idea offend you? The idea being that, Breast Cancer affects the female breast, which many consider to be "second base" in the world of "lemme try and fuck this chick", and if you support Breast Cancer research, you will in fact be saving the spot that still soils the shorts of many a stiff male the world over.

The thing is, Salina Central High School has banned the sale of these shirts, which is now apparently making these a hotter commodity for those who are trying to buck the system, which is kind of ironic. I'm just trying to figure out why you would ban something like this, which has a CLEAR message behind it, especially given the girls' own history with Breast Cancer (one's mother is currently suffering, the other's mother passed away because of it); it's not like it's pictures of two titties on some "come lick me" kind of shit - this has a message.
The insane ideas behind some of these schools, trying to be P.C., kills me.
If you dig the shirts, you can cop some HERE.

Wu-Bangin'

This was going to be a post dedicated to this AWESOME mix from floodwatchmusic.com: it's a dedication to RZA beats, circa 1993-1997 (any Wu Tang Clan fans from that era know, RZA laid the groundwork for some phenomenal aural treats in that span). All instrumental, all dope, and featuring many of your favorite Wu cuts. Grab it and show some love! (Shouts to Rafi for the link)

My nigga E then hit me with this post on his blog, which features video of Ghostface winning (as well as a load of Wu-related music). Actually, it's the RZA letting it be known that 8 Diagrams got pushed back to December 11th, to make way for Ghostface's Big Doe Rehab releasing on December 4th. It's good to know that you can bitch and, in the end, get your way. My only question is: aside from "Celebrate", what do we know about this album? It could be 12 tracks of polka beats. Or it could be Ghostface Vs. Really Doe Vs. Amy Winehouse? Who knows. Do the RZA or any other Wu-affilliates rock the mic or the boards?

I guess we'll have to wait another month and a half...

rock the dub radio: episode 007

That's not a pic of me, but I wish it was... I am so into Old School Hip-Hop cuts, it can be kind of wild. With rock the dub radio, I like to make sure many styles/sounds of Hip-Hop are being featured. This week, I wanted to take a look back, and feature tracks that were seminal in my growth as a Hip-Hop head, as well as throwing in some tracks that kind of build upon that stuff. This is in no way a defining list of "Hip-Hop that bred khal", but a small snippet.

My thoughts on Nas and Nigga

After peepin' Rizoh's compilation of all things news-related inre: Nas' rumored Nigga album, I have to ask: why is there such a big beef about titling your album Nigga? We allow albums (with parental advisory stickers, no less) to be riddled with all kinds of niggas and bitches and ho's and gats and the like, we allow Urban Radio shows the opportunity to use the word DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR, we allow Don Imus to return to radio, but we want to beef with Nas over the title of this album? We praise Richard Pryor for his use of the word, as well as Paul Mooney, turning it on it's ear and making light of situations, but we hate on Nas for his choice? What's the content of the album - is it a dissection, ala Bill Cosby, of the Black American struggle, life in the hood, and a way to flip the word back, or decry its usage? Some of the best art is satire - was Nas working on something in that nature, ala "These Are Our Heroes" (even if the ending was a bit corny)?

The sad part is, I don't think the Nas of today has the BALLS to release an album entitled Nigga. Nasty Nas would put it out, but "The Artist" won't. He can't even put tracks like "Black Zombies" or "No Idea's Original" on his commercial albums, so why would I believe he could pull off something of this magnitude.

I asked Rafi his thoughts on the issue, and he hit me with this beautiful response: "you know what would be even better though? if Nas could make an album where the most note-worthy thing about it wasn't the title." Many of the blogging world, especially the Hip-Hop bloggers, heard about Nigga being the possible title of Nas' LAST album, last year, so this is not necessarily new news, but the fact that it's the same fucking story screams "publicity stunt"... and makes myself and others just go dust off Illmatic and remember the times...

When A Toothless Man Strikes...

My co-worker looks like this man, only slightly younger, with longer hair... and less teeth. I've never been told why he has no teeth, is skinnier than Paris Hilton and walks with a cane, but I figure it's either a) a crack habit or b) getting hit by a Mac truck, possibly while smoking crack.

That's not the point of this story, though. This is just what I have to deal with, day in and day out, when I attempt to perform work-related duties.

Without giving away the name of my employer, I will just say we handle many functions for the state of New Jersey. We run many reports, and make sure proceeses go through so people can get loot. Now, my department has a few main reports that need to be ran daily, including one that must hit the State by 9AM or bad things happen (apparently, I've seen that report be 30 minutes late and no one got fired). Our crew is about 5 people deep, but we rotate schedules between 3 people. One person might run "the report" 2 days a week, and we just switch it off between the 3 of us. The thing is, my co-workers are not competent enough to 1) give me training on all of the procedures and programs and 2) make up a simple schedule. When this happens, I have a Toothless Man over my shoulder, confusing me further.

Two weeks ago, I was told I was to run "the report" on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which was no problem, except that on Thursdays I knock out this larger spreadsheet that's not diffuclt nor time-sensitive, just time-consuming. It can be started after "the report" has been sorted, and really causes no fuss. There ended up being a big hub-bub, but no "OK you can run the spreadsheet on another day". So my schedule, the one I wrote for myself read "'the report': Tues & Thurs, spreadsheet: Fri". So Thursday of last week comes, and I'm running "the report"... but so is Toothless Man. Since I'm on the ball, I locked him out when he tried to access it... and here he comes! "You're doing 'the report'?" he asks; "Yes, that's the schedule, right?" I say. "OH NO, you are to do 'the report' on FRIDAY, because you do the spreadsheet on Thursday" he barks back. I look at my paper, say "OK" and finish 'the report', advising him I'll do the spreadsheet the next day - which I do. I asked him Friday, "I am doing the spreadsheet today, right?" "Yes, because you did 'the report' yesterday"...

Flash forward to 45 minutes ago. I notice he is away from his desk at 8AM, which is odd, b/c 'the report' needs to be knocked out early. I get a few mintues into printing out all of the data for the spreadsheet - and here comes Toothless Man on some "you're supposed to run 'the report' today". HUH!? I look at him like, what? He says "yeah, you do 'the report' on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and work the spreadsheet on Fridays", which is essentially what I told him last week. I am fucking dog tired, and not in the mood for foolishness, so I laughed it off, handed him the pound of data I printed out, and knocked out 'the report'.

*sigh* I think my department is incompetent. I just got an e-mail from my manager asking me why 'the report' was sent out so late... when I sent it to the State @ 8:49AM, and he emailed me at 8:50AM.

Is today just not my day?

SMH @ Katt Williams

Please tell me my hard-earned monies spent on your DVD did NOT contribute to this assault on regular fashion, Katt. And is that supposed to be a noose around your neck? What's really good?
EDIT (May 5th 2008): I've since found out WHY Katt was wearing a noose around his neck, and it makes perfect sense. On his "It's Pimpin' Pimpin'" Tour, Katt let it be known that it was not the nooses that scare niggas... it's the HANGING that scares niggas. It was an effort to attack those who were hanging nooses all around. Katt likens it to throwing bullets on the ground, hoping to scare someone. Damn funny, and real shit.

Lean Makes You Fat

Moe Dee, you on that drank?

First and foremost, RIP to Big Moe. Now, peepin' MGG's post over at XXL, I learned something today that my boy E confirmed: drinkin' that drank makes you big. Lookin' at guys like Paul Wall and Mike Jones, you can tell that some arteries and shit have been clogged and are making it harder for the shit to pass through. Plus, check out Beanie Sigel: he been on pills AND lean for years, and he is a mountain of a man. It just makes me think: who else is on that drank? Kool Moe Dee is looking massive these days. Could he be on that purple rain?

With this newly-acquired info, though, I doubt Lil' Wayne be on that lean. He is too fucking skinny to fit the bill. I don't doubt he fires up that green on the reg, but he looks like he missed a whole gang of meals.

I'm just saying.

So kids, stay off that lean - it can kill you!

Ghostface Killah f/Sean Price- "Pisstachio"*

*Niggas gotta have fun sometimes, no? E and I were going back and forth about this whole Ghostface Vs. Wu thing, and I got bit by the bug. We ended up on some collabo shit, Ghostface Vs. Sean Price. Check it out!

verse 1 - Ghostface Killah

Teddy Ruxpin ass banana Snapple head niggas
Spagehetti head chocolate nutriment ass niggas
Drippin' pastries on my clarks
While I'm eatin' guppies wit the sharks
SWIM STARKS SHARK!
Flew into the heavenly skies
G O D sitting on the throne with apple pie
I threw a razor in his face on the low
Punched the kid in the head, he had an afro
Shit was crazy how lazy the drugs made me
But the fiends tried to creep
Poppoed in the magazine, gun talker of the year award
Don't ever fucks with Theodore
Pop-pop as my gun talked back,
Rest in peace, cop the flowers paid respects to Jack
I raw dogged his baby mother on Valentine's
Big footed bitch, Pumas size 9's
Cunt juice and oil
Left the bedsheet soil
Pretty bitches freak the ferry boat with the foil
Super team cream laser eye beam with the scope knocked out
Leave the pope locked out
"Niggas you cant smoke in my house"
Bazooka Joe timers
Shaolin project grinders

verse 2 - Sean Price

Aiiyo
Beat batterer, give P a beat, battle ya
Snatch ya heart like Euros did slaves out of Africa
One shot to the dome then I rattle ya
Abra-ca-dabra, David Blaine with the magic,
poof-poof, the hammers blow and make it tragic
It's a shame when these niggas act drastic
How the fuck is these niggas gon act drastic
Don't let me get nervous or somethin'
Tear your spine out the frame then fuck up ya function
I bring the gems, Pa
on you and ya friends, Pa
Niggas getting shook for they dough, give up the ends Pa
Flash the fo' fifth with the fo' fifth flasher
Flashin n' forfeit ya cash before I blast ya
Have the pastor ask you who the best in rap disaster
Once Ruck now i go by my government name
Sean Price number 1 then I fucked up the game (P!)
The Ruck without rock I be, I self lord and master
Grasp the gat faster than sheep running on pasture
Face smasher
Broke rapper take the stash and open gash her
Sean P, not the Youngblood but I'm like a young Blood
Shoot up ya whole territory then make the new slugs hug
Powerful posture pumpin pellets into the game
How the fuck you get into my game? me?
P-body
Two arms, 3 legs, and 4 shotties
I write my murder in ink like Ja and Irv gotti
5 dime hotties built like Rihanna on stilts
Sean P perfectly pinching up the quilt
Brokest rapper you know, do all kinds of tracks for dough
and when I'm ready to blast off, y'all niggas gon know
P!

chorus - Ghostface Killah

We dudes makin' jokes in the class yo
Brolic dudes who smash broads and eat Pisstachios
Stay gettin cash yo
Sell crack, fuck bitches, then collect Pisstachios

verse 3 - Ghostface Killah
Eating Herr's chips flipped the script like Spongebob on Urkle
Touch the purple nurple let the eyeshadow cleanse ya soul
This be Big Ghost, the man with the big toast
Spotted Big Red, we took a long trip coast to coast
He drank the orange tonic
I had some kush
I puff the la slowly
He pissed in a bush
Grabbed a lil turtle on the tush, got the eye jammy
Ghost the illest Wu nigga never to win a Grammy
Remember being at Mammy house, stay off the couch in the corner
Got my first feel off that lil Jack Horner
Rhyme scorner, coke general, game provider
Ghost wylin like a sweater in the drier
the African David Bowie, most niggas don't know me
Check the scale bitch, throw it on ya clit then blow me
Straight off!

verse 4 - Sean Price

Powerful P
Powefully
Poppin' Pistols Protection Profession
Pop session
Rhyme wreckin'
Mike checkin
Waitin' on heaven with the reverend
Barry Bonds grand slam bats when I rap
Sean P and Big Ghost like cocaine on the track
No Bobby and Whitney
Listen
I'm not the rapper that'll battle on Smack
I'm type to smack a rapper then sell 'em some crack
Fuck a DVD if it don't pay Franklins to P
Props to P don't mean shit if I can't pay power to see
That's my word to my son and my word to my bitch
Monkey Barz, Jesus Price, Mic Tyson, man I'm tryin' to get rich
3 solos then I'm done, yo I'm out this bitch
Duckdown, Theodore, Wu-Tang and the Boot Camp Clik
Grab ya Timbs, Clarks and hoodies, we runnin' this shit
P!

chorus - Ghostface Killah

We dudes makin' jokes in the class yo
Brolic dudes who smash broads and eat Pisstachios
Stay gettin cash yo
Sell crack, fuck bitches, then collect Pisstachios

Joe Budden speaks on leaving Def Jam

You know I have to ride for Joe Budden. I mean, we're both from New Jersey, and this nigga can SPIT! Eskay interviewed Joe for XXLMag.com, and Joe let's it all hang out, and fucking makes SENSE while doing it.

Jay told XXL in 2006 that the reason Def Jam hasn’t released your new album is because you never handed in a completed project.
That’s an empty answer also. That doesn’t say anything. That doesn’t give the people anything. I’ve been recording for ages. You’ve never asked for a Joe Budden album. Nobody at Def Jam has ever asked for a Joe Budden album. I was without a recording budget for two years. Two and a half, three years I’d say. I was without an A&R for two years. Everybody keeps talking about what they don’t have, like, “We don’t have the album, we’re not blocking it.” Nobody’s talking about what happened and what’s happening. Let’s deal with facts and let’s deal with reality. I put "Gangster Party” out, it got spins, ya’ll left it for dead. I said, “Put me in with Timbaland,” I came back with a hit record and ya’ll never did nothing with it, and then ya’ll left me to sit there. And then I said, “okay, three years later, maybe they’re right, maybe I don’t have the records. Let me go get in with Just Blaze.” And then I tell Just Blaze’s manager to call up there and pay for the session and they don’t wanna pay for the session, so I paid for it out of pocket. Again. Everything I did at Def Jam was out of pocket. So I really have just all this time been waiting for this day to come.

That makes a lot of sense. It's not like Joe was laid up. Anyone who heard either of the Mood Muzik mixtapes knows that Joe stayed on his grisly. I still put on tracks like "Dumb Out" and, well, dumb out. I also don't see how they didn't think dude was marketable - "Pump It Up" was a beast!

Hopefully Joe can get into a situation where he is properly released and reclaims his spot as one of the best in the game on a worldwide level.

rock the dub radio archives

Someone is hatin' on rock the dub radio. Due to an unfortunate incident involving Jay-Z's "Blue Magic", my divshare account files got ganked. I just re-upped all of the archives (rock the dub radio episodes 001-005), and will be linking them here.

The thing is, the rock the dub radio podcast's host site (podOmatic) had some problems with RAID and the majority of the data stored got ganked. I had the last 3 shows on there (episodes 004-006), and the data seems to be lost. Until I have the disposable loot to host the shows on my own, I'm rollin' with them, and I wasn't keeping each show on there anyways, but I'm just lettin' you guys know what the deal is. Here's links to the shows, as well as embedded files so you can preview. Episode 007 coming soon - all old school-esque and shit!

rock the dub radio: episode 001

rock the dub radio: episode 002

rock the dub radio: episode 003

rock the dub radio: episode 004

rock the dub radio: episode 005

rock the dub radio: episode 006

I hope you guys are feelin' these. Shouts to Chad each and every.

Good Reason to Post a Sarah Silverman Pic

Chartreuse's post on Viacom's hate on all things YouTube/Internets, with a correlation to Rafi, Dallas and the Internets Celebrities' "VH1 Hip-Hop Honors" video of "Scenario". Both Rafi and Dallas have also expressed their disgust over this situation.

Speaking of the iC's, "Bodega" is getting CNN Headline News love this weekend. Chea!

American Pimp (in 9 Parts)

New feature on rock the dub: Saturday Cinema. Gonna try and find these full flicks that people chop and post online. To give you some history - I'm not a FAN of pimps and the pimp game, but the intrigue of these niggas and their lives interests me. HBO has had specials on the pimps and the ho's, and not only are they good for laughs, but it's a pretty telling capsule of what the struggle can do to some people.

The first is a documentary from the niggas that brought you Menace II Society. The Hughes Brothers present: American Pimp:

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4; Part 5; Part 6; Part 7; Part 8; Part 9.

When I find more, I'll post more. On Saturdays. Saturday Cinema, holla.

Sonic added to Super Smash Bros. Brawl lineup

I don't own a Wii. I want one, but not yet. This game might make me cop one, though!

Didn't you always want to see Sonic and Mario whup each others asses? Well, the Sega star has been added! There's loads of screenshots of his special moves, and they look awesome. (For even more surprise guest stars, check out these assist trophies!)

So now I need to cop a Wii, and a High Def TV. *sigh*

Wordsmith ft. D-Dub, Mic Brown & A-Class-HipHop "In The Headlines" (zShare stream/download) (prod. by DeMo)

Wordsmith and his crew drop a heater with a dope loop in it. It sounds like it's about "the incident", but it's not.

Word is Words, Nas' A&R, HipHopDX.com and Strada will be on a conference call to try and sort out the details. I'm guessing HipHopDX will be dropping the exclusive story once the call is over, so stay tuned!

Tired of Fiascogate

Straight up, I am not a Lupe Fiasco fan. Anyone who has read my review of Food & Liquor should know this. And without sounding like a jaded old school head, I will refrain from filibustering inre: my love for all things Midnight Marauders (even if E caught the brunt of what I was saying a few days ago). I agree whole-heartedly with what Phonte had to say about Lupe's stance, but I still cannot understand the ignorance that is Lupe.

Miss Info posted her views on his VIBE.com comments, which followed up Q-Tip's views on the situation. I think it's kind of telling that Lupe compared A Tribe Called Quest to MC Hammer, given Tip's lines in "Check The Rhime"; Lupe, your argument about Hammer selling more records than ATCQ, then assuming that Tribe wouldn't be as worldwide is bananas. Hammer sold more records than Wu-Tang, but they are just as big, if not bigger, than him worldwide.

The kind of nigga who is talkin' about kids in Harlem not ever wanting to listen to A Tribe Called Quest would be the same kids who have no reason to listen to YOU, nigga. Aside from the critical acclaim Food & Liquor received, you didn't even go gold. And after all of this, you want to stay stubborn, which is understandable, but wouldn't you at least be curious? Or do you feel such resentment that when you see the cover of MM and cringe?

Niggas like you are the reason for your own downfall - not leaks, not label drama, not the public. You came out the box trying to act as if Q-Tip called upon you to join the Tribute, which we find out didn't go down like that. Then you get the spot on the Tribute, and fuck up. It's not even the fuck-up that bothers people, it's the context. You purposefully said "Yo I ain't even listen to that album" a WHILE ago, no doubt trying to distance yourself from the dreaded "backpacker" syndrome in Rap today, and that very statement came back to fuck you, kind of like a coked out Adebisi on a rampage. You should've already known how harsh the 'Net can be, and being 1) an artist and 2) a man, your skin should be a few hairs thicker than that. Alas, we find out that the microwave Muslim is just a punk, more "hurt" than he should be, based on his pseudo-nonchalance.

One of these days, Lupe, you are going to look back at this situation. Way after your (alleged) 3-album stint, way-way after FNF has shut the doors on the Chicago offices. Way after Pharrell has retired from singing badly but making great beats. You will look back on this situation. Will it be with a sly smile? Will it be with a wimper? Will you just feel dumbstruck that YOU let this rollercoaster continue, all the while with your hand on the brake, hesitating. Are you truly ready to feel the backlash? You not only played yourself, it looks like you might have pissed off a legion of dedicated Tribe fans, fans who saw your stale ass as a torchbearer. No matter how reluctant you were to fly that flag, as an artist and a character, your job is to please the fanbase. Those same backpackers you want to distance yourself from? Those are the same heads who championed you on blogs, forums and at your shows. 8Ball & MJG? Do you truly think they give a wet fart about Lupe Fiasco?

Kids in Harlem. If a nigga in Harlem can recite a Lupe line, I'd be surprised. Go fix your face and pray to Allah that The Cool doesn't flop. Hard.

Fucking microwave Muslim ass niggas. Hate on.
