Ther Herbaliser ft. Jean Grae "Street Karma"

The Herbaliser ft. Jean Grae "Street Karma (A Cautionary Tale)": 1) Is Jean Grae officially retired? 2) How come The Herbaliser's forthcoming album, Same As It Never Was, is listed as being released on !K7, as opposed to Ninja Tune? I guess it's good to know that Ninja Tune has still linked to it on their site - anyone got any info on this? The only thing that's said on their MySpace page is the following: "We’re very happy to announce that promos for our new record have been sent out and it’s due to be released on the 26th May. After 13 great years with Ninjatune, we feel that now is a good time to try something new so it will be released on !k7 Records"... I guess that's all that's needed to be said?

In any case, the collaborations Jean and The Herbz create always get me going. I always wondered why she never did more EP/album projects with them. Whatever that's all about, it's probably moot, but we do have this track to tide us over.

Watch out for Same As It Never Was - they have this vocalist, Jessica Darling, who is doing some great vocal work for them. Tracks have that Sharon Jones/Dap-Kings/Joss Stone/Amy Winehouse/Big Band feel to them. Funny enough, as much as they are trying to do something a bit different, this is not a crazy departure - the cinematic jams are on here, and while the project is a tad "less Hip-Hop" than their other releases, this is by no means "HERBALISER GONE MAINSTREAM"... just great music. I need to cop this when it drops, and add Take London to the list of albums I never bought for no good reason.
