[video] West Palm Beach Police Beating

About 10 seconds in; completely unnecessary:

EDIT: For those of you in the comments who seem to think that the cops are somehow justified in this, why did one resign and two got put on leave? Was it because the robber (who's actions I do not condone) was somehow "deserving" of being beaten while restrained, even if he attempted to get their pepper spray? Give me a fucking break.

Looks like the suspect robbed a store....you were not there....sometimes people get what they deserve....perhaps we should have held his hand as he was arrested for this felony.....by the way, who was the jerk cop who released this video to you tube?

1) OK so someone robs a store. At what point do they deserve to be kicked and punched in the face? Especially while handcuffed?

2) What jerk cop released it? Why don't you asked the Associated Press.

Apparently, this "outstanding" citizen tried to pepper spray the cops while trying to escape. criminals are criminals and deserve EVERY inch of pain coming to them. unnecessary you say? watch the vid, see the robber abruptly shaking before the cop pounded his face? what if he had gotten a hold of the cop's gun? what then?

don't know why you're quoting outstanding, i never mentioned what i thought of the guy.

if you notice in the vid, the robber also has his hands cuffed. how much damage was he going to do while cuffed, outnumbered by the cops? and what do you say about the shot of dude laying on the ground, being kicked in the head? that's a bit excessive, no?

hey skarloss how do you get the officers gun when your handcuffed.these so caleed keepers of the peace are nothing more than thugs and should be charged with aggrevated assault.i hope you lose everything you pig

Got what he deserved? When did the police become judge and jury? The man was cuffed and in control. You place him in the police car, process him, and let DA arraign him, and a jury of his peers decide his fate. What happens next time when the person, unbeknownst to police, is mentally disturbed or legally insane? Are they going to beat him to a pulp as well? If policemen cannot do their jobs without "getting in their licks", they should resign from the force. I suppose the guy was lucky in a way. It could have been New York City and he would have shot 41-50 times without doing a thing?

how could any one think this was justified? this is still america where you are innocent untill proven guilty by judge and jury. any one who thinks otherwise is either a moron or a thug!the sad part is how many times this has happend when no camera was there. these officers should have been arrested and charched with assault and battery.

even anonymous post can be tracked, you're a idiot for making threats online

Looks like he resisted to me. One way to avoid being injured during arrest is to not do things that get you arrested

No, they don't have to hold his hand nor kiss his rear in front of Macy's! Just do your job without the extra curricular activity! Dispensing justice or retaliating against a person who p'd you off is not your job function! Like I said before, if you can't do that, get off the force. Mick Jagger said it best, "Just like every cop is a criminal, And all the sinners saints!!

Of course he resigned. Now he can say he was never fired and apply again for another department.

The other two will fight the charges. Piece of sh*t robber should have had his head handed to him by the clerk. Next time the clerk should arm himself from these loser druggies.

Probably an illegial

1) I don't condone violence on the police, or anyone else for that matter.

2) Nor do I think comments like "Probably an illegial" are funny (or spelled correctly).

3) Yes, the suspect should be made to serve time/punished for the crimes he has committed, including resisting arrest and trying to get the pepper spray. In no way do I see how that gives the police justice to beat him the way they did. That is what I consider unnecessary.

All of you are idiots. Criminals are people as well as yourselves. Yes the do wrong and deserve to be punished but nobody deserves to get kicked in the face and punched repeatedly until knocked unconscious. Obviously what the police officers did was wrong else one would not have quit and the others would not have been fired. I hope they get sued for everything that they have and get charged for everything as well. Cruel and unusual punishment is against the law and has been for a VERY LONG TIME. It does not say in the police handbook to beat a criminal unconscious for resisting arrest.

Whoever wanted to know who released this video to you tube. Watch the news and you will get educated. The AP released the video and the cop did not post it on YouTube.

He got what he desirved. Maybe he will think twice before trying to rob or hurt others.
Wish cops could do more of this. Wish civilians could beat criminals as part of thier sentence too.

I have worked for two different pd's in oregon and my wife is a corrections deputy here and we have always been trained that the threat dictates the amount of force used. Once the threat stops, you stop. The guy was in cuffs, if he starts to get squirrley, all you have to do is lift his arms up and it hurts like a MF. If this does not work, take him to the ground until he calms down. WPBPD obviously has some Use of Force issues and they will have their asses sued for this. I bet the officers directly involved have been in trouble for similiar situations in the past. These guys will lose all their shit in a civil lawsuit, guaranteed.

Possibly the most sensible comment I've read on this situation, period. Thanks for your words.
