DJ Spooky ft. Kool Keith "Riddim Warfare"

DJ Spooky ft. Kool Keith "Riddim Warfare": Taken from DJ Spooky's sophmore LP, 1998's Riddim Warfare, this Hip-Hop/DnB hybrid sound is what I like to hear when someone questions what next level should sound like. This stems from a convo Elucid and I had regarding the idea that 808's & Heartbreak will be Kanye West's Electric Circus. Why can't Hip-Hop heads throw their multi-genre love into the mix without turning into that shit? Why can't Kanye use 808's, Auto-Tune and all and, instead of doing piss-poor singing, flip his lyrical braggadacio over it? Why does Common have to become a hippie to show you that he is diverse? Is it not cool to still be the same cat who rocks saggy pants and doo rags, but rock to Chromeo or MGMT, or Pink Floyd for that matter? Why does the sheep mentality mean cats have to switch their whole style up just to follow another style?

Spooky, Keith - I commend you two brothers for keeping it true, keeping it right and keeping it fresh, always.
