Capital J "Uppn' Tha Ante": I had to upload this after talkin' to Enigmatik about the M.O.P. show he was going to tonight. This DnB remix is like 7 years old, and all hyper-jungle antics. Massive bass drop, loads of amens, and Brownsville's Finest speakin' on yappin' fools, snatchin' jewels and other things.
Shouts to Jonathan Hay for hitting me with this exclusive interview Ice T did with Jon and Chad Kiser. T goes in, from speaking on the Soulja Boy incident (for the last time) to his thoughts on the Hip-Hop community as a whole. Some real talk in this one, don't sleep.
I told you cats the other day that I'd lace you with this once it hit my inbox. DJ Dutchmaster and M-Phazes went IN!

If you've followed this blog, you've seen my take on MF Doom's "Metal Face Imposter" situation. A piece of his Wax Poetics interview was posted on the Stones Throw Forum, and has this gem in it:
There are claims of imposter DOOMs wearing the mask and doing shows for you.
That's interesting. I'll say this: I've been rhyming on the microphone professionally for twenty years, out there when [Big Daddy] Kane was there. I was doing big-ass stadiums when Pac was in the Digital Underground--Latifah, 3rd Bass, De La, KMD. On the microphone, for hours every night, busting my ass since I was, like, eighteen. It never ended. If it wasn't the stage, it was on the street, battling or whatever in the '90s when there were no deals. And I'm still doin' it, to the point where now I'm thirty-seven.
Last year, I did some show, wrecked it, girls climbing up onstage and shit--that was the first time that happened--but we was rocking, right?Somebody from the label was going to be there. I was like, "Cool, he saw the show, and it was wrecked." Next couple of days, I speak to him, and he was like, "Good show, but a lot of people are saying it wasn't you!" I'm like, "All right, every show I do, motherfuckers start saying that: 'Was it really him?'" I lost fifty-nine pounds last year on some healthy shit, and I'm out there busting my ass, and niggas is still saying that shit? Niggas is caught up in the character part. But--I will say this: you never know what to expect. I'll fuck around and do some shit like that, just to fuck around with a nigga head.
'Cause I'm like this: it's music; I'm doing the shows; the stage is my canvas; I'll put whatever up there for the visible eye. But it's music, for listening to. Looking at it has nothing to do with what it sounds like. A blind person could be at the show and feel it clearly, but don't see nothing of it. Don't matter what the shit look like. Look, was niggas rockin' or was niggas rockin'? See, I'm snapping niggas out of it. I might change my mind and want to retire from that part. I'm not sweating my ass out onstage no more. I've spit hundreds of thousands of lyrics, time and time again. Maybe I'll take a break, or maybe never come back. That's my choosing as an artist. And it's their choosing to criticize it too. But that's my other job--to snap niggas out of it.
You think Doom is just a smart businessman, and feeds into that hype, or what? I mean, this is really some Tony Clifton shit IMHO...
Kanye West "Heartless" (prod. by No I.D. & Kanye West): The latest leak from 808s & Heartbreak. I really don't even want to listen to this album at all. Why? I can't stand this cat singing over these synth-pop ditties. Wacksauce to the nth degree.
NOTE: This is being reported as the "unmastered" version, kind of like how "Love Lockdown" was. Will update this with a "mastered" version when I see one.
EDIT: Here's the mastered version, via BoBO.
The Gent$ "Days Go On (Dub Mix)" (prod. by Maker): This is the third leak from this trio's forthcoming debut, which drops tomorrow (October 21st) on Enhoes Music. I suggest you do anything but sleep...
previous: The Gent$ "Cold" \ The Gent$ "Supper Time"
For a while, rock the dub radio was on hiatus... I hadn't gone fishin', but I was on some other shit - mainly rockin' Dogs On Acid content and other jobs that may or may not be complete. And working out a digital label as well. In any case, I had this mix (or, shall I say, an hour and a half of this mix) sitting on my external since early August, and finally finished it on Friday, with a bokkle of OE and determination. You can tell based on the selection, but whatever. I think this is one of the more flowing mixes I've thrown out in a while.

I hope you guys dig this one. Some fresh posse cuts on this one, as well as some joints you niggas might have slept on for whatever reason. I've already got the first seeds of episode 027 going, and I'm gonna be doing some more Dub Sessions (hopefully an Autumnal Funk mix, and a dubstep/thugstep one), and I got some special mixes coming before the end of the year. Working hard! Enjoy!
I had already posted this on DPD, but I had this recording on during my commute to work, and it had me cracking up, and I figured you DnB rock the dub heads would be into this. Great to hear 'Rider back on the radio, speaking about getting readjusted and all. Some serious tunes played as well...

Yes, Shawty Lo, L is definitely for "loser".
That chain is actually not that bad, but nigga, the t-shirt is enough.
And "ya whoa" Plies still rocks this bitch-ass "goon" chain. What a waste.
Shouts, as always, to YBF for these pics.
EDIT: On some other notes, check out Uncle Russ, Kerry Washington as a bad rug, some buffoonery known as Hatian Fresh, confused-ass Soulja Boy, Skateboard P's tight-ass jacket, court jester Teddy Pain, and Common in his Math Olympics Fresh. My people, my people. What's wrong with my people?
While I cannot get with this level of remedialness, you have to respect dude's grind:
This nigga knows how to make some shit viral...
Che Grand ft. Von Pea, Spec Boogie & Donwill "Lessondary Busy": Che and his Lessondary bredren stomp a mudhole through the "Get Busy" instrumental. Make sure you catch Che Grand (along with Tanya Morgan, Homeboy Sandman, Fresh Daily and others) at the CMJ Showcase on October 21st.
Wordsmith ft. Skyzoo "Nobody Cares" (prod. by Strada): Here's another joint from Wordsmith's forthcoming The Revolution Begins With A Takeover, Vol. 2 mixtape, which will be premiering on HipHopDX in the very near future. Had no idea Words and Skyzoo got down like that, but I can dig it.
previous: Wordsmith "Breakfast at the Brightside Diner"
Seel Fresh "I Think She Might Be": Here's the latest leak from Seel Fresh's Street Famous, and it's a fresh take on love. While you hear so many MCs on that "it ain't tricking if you got it", or the infamous "bitches and ho's" talk, it's refrershing to hear an MC speaking about trying to find the one, and making it work with their schedule. Just real life, ya dig?

"One day I was inspired to do this song.I know alot of people have their opinion about the whole election especially Obama. No I do not look at him as the savior of the "black" race.I thinkhe does represent the potential of "black" people. So I say he is a positive role model win or lose.Say what you want to as you sit on the sideline of life...Get up and Live(qoute from Nesta). This is a Kanye track that he gave Weezy, and Cynical surfed for the images, and my boy Jahdan(Noble Society)is on the Hook, and Mantecha on background vox. It's all expression."

Word is that DJ Dutchmaster and M-Phazes will be hosting a special CMJ Mixtape dropping Monday; hit up this link for the Coalmine Records newsletter, which has info on this and a host of other events and promotions. Shouts to Matt for this one.

The Fingermonsters "Shablango": The Fingermonsters are a four-man crew hailing from San Francisco who bust some interesting electro/minimal/synth-heavy cuts. They sent over a pack of beats and this one, taken from the Gilbert Slimejaw EP on Monsta Music, was my favorite. Nice Electro-bleep romp.
Million Dan "Inner City Got Plenty Cases": The single for this tale of inner city strife drops on October 27th; it's taken from the special edition version of Million Dan's Spektrum.
I love how I first got into Million Dan from listening to Congo Natty jungle tracks, and now all I hear is Dan over some Hip-Hop. Not a slight, I actually enjoy the work he's putting in.

I've been thinking about doing another Dub Session mix for Autumn, and in looking on YouTube, I had no idea The Cinematic Orchestra were on Jimmy Kimmel back in April:
The Cinematic Orchestra "Breathe" (LIVE On Jimmy Kimmel)
Take some time out and meditate on that. I have some work to finish then my weekend is ON! Enjoy it, peeps.
The homey Enigmatik caught Hova's show in Houston last night and has his recap, as well as video of Jigga performing "Say Hello", "Roc Boys", "Lucifer" and other jawns. Holla!
Meilana Gillard "Semisweet (J. Slikk Remix)": My boy J. Slikk sent this one over yesterday, and I got the approval to post it up. He said he had a lot of fun with this one, working with Meilana Gillard, a Brooklynite who is a jazz saxophonist. This is some nice Sunday afternoon riding music; has that nice cool vibe to it. I'm on my grown-man this morning... I left my fedora at the crib, though.
Kanye West "Love Lockdown (LL Kool K Remix)": My boy Goldfingaz is back on his grisly. I love that loop he used in here, really dirty, 70s style shit. I still can't understand how much I fathom the original, but hearing Kanye over these Trip-Hop-esque beats sounds a lot better.
My expectations for this LP are still on some "it ain't gonna be shit" shit.
Big Quarters "Good Look" (prod. by Medium Zach): Here's a lil' exclusive from BQDirect's November pack, which drops on November 5th. You feelin' this funk? Hit up their site to find out how to subscribe to this monthly dose of raw Hip-Hop. Big up to Brandon for letting this one go!
I'm dying over here:
From the good folks over at Portal A.
Trackstar just reminded me that I downloaded "Slaughterhouse", the new Joe Budden posse cut featuring Joell Ortiz, Nino Bless, Crooked I & Royce Da 5'9, produced by Scram Jones...
00:07: Why is it that these posse cuts always underperform with the beat? Last posse cut with a serious beat was that Cormega jawn... not to say this beat is garbage, it's got that fire for a joint like this but I always want more.
00:37: "I ain't gotta mention the streets on this song/to get in a nigga ass on these beats like a thong... pause". HOLLA!
00:55: Ortiz merked it, without using that "Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaooooo-wa!" shit...
01:28: Nino's best part is that "something like a phenomenon" shit, but then again, who wants to bat after Joell Ortiz!??!
02:16: Damn, Bless still going? "I'm not with that silly nonsense", either.
02:34: Got a DJ Cable/RTD Mini Mix featuring Crooked I's The Block Obama coming.
03:09: Crooked I is going the fuck off. "They old asshole flow, I drop NEW SHIT!"
03:36: Track told me to wait for Royce, and he is killin' this with that...
03:49: "SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIT!"... I just had to rewind his whole verse!
04:22: "Before I got into my Maino-mode if I smell Yung Berg on ya". Good Lord, Nickle Nine is killin' this!
06:27: I know I'm one of the few Jersey bloggers out there (I think? where y'all at), but I wasn't really wylin' off his verse. That E. Honda line cracked me up, but...
...compared to what Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce did on this? No contest. I think Royce won this one, though. Your thoughts?
If you saw last night's finale, you saw Diddy keep it funky about Aubrey and D. Woods. I just need my Aundrea fix:
So who's taking bets: "leaked" porn tape? Playboy spread? What's next for "Ivory"?
From the DallasPenn Dot Com newsdesk...
Who the hell cares that Barack's middle name is Hussein?!?
Who in America has the surname of their great-great-great grandparents?
Everyone is Jones, Tucker or Smith.
And this is because their great-great-great grandparents were scared to reflect the places they came from.
Don't try to get me to fear Barack Obaama because his middle name is Hussein.
Wordsmith ft. RhymeZwell, Black Knight & Kontact "Breakfast at the Brightside Diner" (prod. by Capish): Here's a leak from Wordsmith's forthcoming mixtape, The Revolution Begins With A Takeover, Vol. 2, which will be mixed and blended by DJ Denox. Peep the fresh storytelling rhymes and that live-sounding beat. Lovin' this one.
Fes Taylor "The Secret Weapon": Here's a diss track that Fes Taylor has aimed at The RZA, taken from his Fresh Air Fund Mix CD, which dropped today via chambermusik.com. Word is dude will be dropping mixtapes every 2 weeks, leading up to the release of an album in early 2009. Do the damn thing.
Bonus Beats: Fes Taylor ft. Cappadonna & T-Bird "Mama Raised Me"
While listening to last week's Jadakiss conference call, I got to listen to some of the Playaz Circle interview, and heard the oddest thing I've heard from a rapper in a while:
"Hey, dis ya boy Tit..."
Now, as pause-worthy as that comment is, this was actually 1/2 of the duo introducing himself. His name is Tity Boi. Yep, you got it. Tity-fucking-Boi. How does shit like this get past the A&R, R&D or whatever other two-letter departments the major labels have set up to rape artists? On what planet does that name even sound right, especially for a grown-ass man who apparently does community service, in between transporting narcotic with the use of Louis V bags?
In any case, this has to be one of the WORST Rap names ever, right? I already posted on the ILLEST Rap names ever, and got some good responses (although Intelligent Hoodlum merks them all), and want to know what you guys think. What's the wackest Rap name, in your opinion?
M.anifest "Age Of Obama" (prod. by Budo): M.anfiest & Budo link up to provide the masses with a track to remind you that if Obama DOESN'T get into office, this country is going to be going even further down the rabbit's hole... and they do it with a fresh beat and honest lyrics.
I'm feeling that.

Emilio Rojas "Young, Fresh & Fly" (prod. by Illmind): I can never pass up an Illmind production. This is the debut single from Emilio Rojas' forthcoming The Nouveau Slick EP, which drops on Coalmine very soon. Big up to Shake for leaking this, and Matt for hitting me with the link.
Benny Page "Turn Down The Lights": I just had a shot of Jose Cuervo, and I'm feelin' all warm inside. When I get like this, there's nothing like DnB that gets me open. The sample in this one always gets me. Just a BIG SOUN'! I'm gettin' my ja-fake-in' on, y'all. Word to Enigmatik.
Bonus Beats: Soundclash "Crying Out"
Articulate "White Van Music": One of Bmore's most talented flips a bunch of instrumentals from Jake One's White Van Music album, and it's dope. If you like fly flows and ill beats, this is right up your alley. Check out a forthcoming Stones Throw night in Bmore that Artic is performing at...
