Kid Hum & RTD Present Offshore Drilling

Don't you love when a plan comes together? In looking back over past e-mails, it seems as I first discussed the idea to flip Fossil Fuel into Offshore Drilling with Kid Hum back in December of 2008. Six months, that's a decent turnaround time, no? In that timeframe, I've been thoroughly amazed at how slick the tunes coming in have been... I'm always amazed when an idea comes to fruition. I would like to say this is all my doing - I just played middleman, sowing seeds and contacting heads. I want to shout out EVERYONE who contributed to this project, from Hum being so receptive to the MCs hitting us with some explosive material to the various websites who've helped spread the word on this endeavour. Now you can finally enjoy what I've been waiting to drop on you guys...

1. Cy Yung "Audobon"
2. Whygee "Klonopins"
3. Prezzure "Never Say Never"
4. Sunken State "Gingivitis"
5. Brown Bag All-Stars "Disappointment"
6. Junclassic "Angst"
7. Joulz Il "My Microphone"
8. Hellz Yea! "RTD Anthem
9. L. Chanes "Church"
10. Pugz Atomz ft. Primeridian & Awdazcate "The Ride"
11. Braille "Thinking Shoes"
12. Cy Yung "Cy De B"
13. Blueface (Sky 7th & Lou Sleefe) "50 Years"
14. Bonus Track: Junclassic "Passport"
15. Bonus Track: Sunken State "Cavities"

For more information on this project, including MySpace links for each and every artist involved, hit up the OD section of House Of Waxx. Once again, I thank everyone who took the time to get involved. And don't think this is the last you'll hear from these niggas... Cy and Kid Hum have SOBEIT in the works, and Jun is making some sick shit with Kid as well. WhyGee and Sunk One's Suicide Watch 2 is also in the works, and I have retrospective collections from Joulz Il and Cy Yung on the way. This summer finna be a SCORCHER!

Lauren London Is Pregnant?

That's what I'm hearing; the YBF is reporting that Lauren is something like 5 month pregnant, and while there's no confirmation on it, I get the impression that they believe that Lil' Wayne is the baby daddy? That's both criminal and disgusting - Weezy looks like a walking cockroach, and that kid won't be able to deal with a sizzurp-addicted father. Christ, that bothers me. I pray this is some wild rumor, or that she at least was level-headed enough to fuck with a dude who has something to with life other than electronically manipulating his twisted musings to nothing beats.

SoulCulture.TV presents... DEAR MAMA - The Mothers Day Special

As Mother's Day approaches this weekend, we took the focus away from flowers and chocolates to talk about the intricacies of our relationships with our mothers. Featuring: renowned poet Taalam Acey, soul artists Jesse Boykins III, Tawiah, Ra-Re Valverde and Chestor Gregory, and UK rapper TY.

What's the most embarrassing thing your mother's ever caught you doing? What do you usually argue about? Does her opinion matter when it comes to who you date? How are you most like your mother? How has she influenced your career? What song would you dedicate to her?

Part 1

Part 2

Shouts to SoulCulture for this one.

Cutty Ranks "Limb By Limb (REWIND Remix)"

Cutty Ranks "Limb By Limb (REWIND Remix)": About to spend some time with the fam-a-lam (Chinese buffet FTW), but wanted to drop some Junglistic stylings for those of you who are like "fucka Hip-Hop". Oddly enough, this flips a host of Hip-Hop samples (Biggie's "Unbelievable", "Tried By 12", etc.), but they mash dem down with breakbeats all over the place. I believe Soundmurderer's REWIND label is (was?) out of Detroit, but they come with the old school Jungle/Ragga flavor, and this is always a staple of sets from NYC's Survival crew. Watch out for the quick Eminem snippet in the bonus beat.

Bonus Beats Soundmurderer & SK-1 "Dreader Than Dread"

EDIT Black + white pic via Innermann, apparently.

JoJo Simmons Gets High

Why am I not surprised that JoJo Simmons got arrested for marijuana possession? I remember the episode where Method Man & Redman performed at Rev Run's birthday party - you know that was the seed (no pun intended)... I kid. But seriously, dude shouldn't have tried to throw the whip in reverse - just shut it all down and take your lumps.

Oddly enough, the new season of Run's House starts this week - there's a marathon on MTV2 RIGHT NO. I just wish the season wasn't in the can, so we could see Run flippin' off on JoJo.

Rihanna Naked

I guess those leaked LAPD photos aren't the only things Rihanna's camp has to deal with. I'm not sure who YoungTurk is, but he's thrown up some photos of what looks like Rihanna in the buff.

Rihanna naked > Cassie naked.

Shouts to Enigmatik for the heads up on this one. Grab all of the shots here.

EDIT TSS has the watermark-less shots (as well as this winner pic of Chris Brown with panties on his head), and Complex compares Cassie's nudes to Rihanna's nudes.

EDIT Now the question remains: did Chris Brown leak the photos? Interesting angle, considering the hype about the leaked LAPD photos. Maybe he's trying to make her submit to help get the case thrown out? Who knows...

EDIT Now Rihanna's camp has spoken out. They allege what I was wondering: are these really pics of homegirl? They can argue "no", seeing as none of the naked flicks have Rihanna's face in them. But does that mean its not her, or could she just not fit her head in the shots of her ass and whatnot? I'm just saying...

Braille "Thinking Shoes"

Braille "Thinking Shoes" (prod. by Kid Hum): Here's a leak from Offshore Drilling, which will drop on Monday (May 11th). It's been a long-time coming for this, and throughout the many e-mails I've exchanged with Hum (and the host of fresh MCs who laced these beats), I knew it'd come out dope. Getting Braille to contribute was definitely a blessing - I believe the night Hum told me he'd be lacing one of the tracks, I randomly saw a Braille track featured on Making The Band 4. Is that irony? I don't know, but I do know that Braille weaved some cautionary lines, making you really think about the idea of trying to be someone else. I know I used to think "it'd be cool to be _____", but when you realize that everyone has some kind of strife and problems in their life, you know that you just have to live with the cards you were dealt.

Well, that's what I took away from it. Tell me what you think. And make sure you didn't miss The Fuel EP, which dropped this past Monday. Enjoy.

EMS x RTD: ThrowBack Thursday 002

Last week, we brought you one track... this week? EMS is throwing out an entire album!

For part 2 of EMSxRTD's "Throwback Thursday I give you "Neighborhood Knock" a complete street album/mixtape. While touring the Boston rap scene, M-Dot met up with another local named Grime Tha MC (of The Camp) & after doing some shows together it was discovered they somehow lived on the same street & never even knew about it. So from that they decided they should do an album together and this was the final product. A soulful, gritty, boom-bap filled street album/mixtape with lyrics and stories of everyday life and struggle.

Hi-Jynx "Paradise" [preview]: I had seen Hi-Jynx's name around - I believe Shake threw up a track that he was on with PreZZure. I'm not sure where this will end up, but this throwback sampling banger fits right into my flavor on a chilly May night like this. I hear the bad asses out there screaming, and I'm about to crack a freeze pop and try to cool out. I'm kind of focused, and I hope I get more cuts from this dude via the ABM NY fam.

Bonus Beats Jeremiah ft. Hi-Jynx "Birthday Sex (Remix)"

Finale "Heat"

Finale "Heat" (prod. by J Dilla): Finale got a co-sign from Dilla Dog before he passed, and this beat was off one of Jay Dee's beat CDs, and made before his untimely passing. This isn't the run-of-the-mill Dilla beat - its a bit grimier, kind of understated to be honest, but Finale blasts through the whole thing like a bazooka ginsu. Whatever that means.

I believe Interdependent Media is giving away 45s with this one (b/w Tanya Morgan's "So Damn Down") if you order Brooklynati early, so you vinyl lovers, get on it!

BK Cyph "Ode To Panamanian Cricket"

BK Cyph "Ode To Panamanian Cricket":On twitter the other day, I made a comment about how Lady Gaga's ass > Lady Gaga's face. The nigga BK Cyph hit me like "I don't really see the hype", and hipped me to THIS. I was definitely blown away - damn. I know of a few Panamanians, and I never seen them stacked like THAT! Cyph said he'd rhyme to any beat about Panamanian Cricket ass, and I hit him with Cassie's "Must Be Love" instrumental, early.

Today he hit me with the ode; here's his note on the situation:

A few days ago some pics leaked online of some chicks at a Cricket game in Panama. FUCKIN AMAZING! Some folks are claiming photoshop and that may be the case, but I couldn't take that chance. I've already booked my flight to Panama City and I'm embarking on a Borat-like expedition- wish me luck. But before I left, I decided to write a little song about it for your listening pleasures. Oh yeah, shouts to Cassie and all the good folks in the dELiA*s mailroom. HA!

Speaking of Cassie, don't say that the she's topless... say the titties is out.

Breez Evahflowin ft. Swave Sevah & Shaneeka Harrell "Over" (prod. by Dave "Daveytree" Archuletta): Breez' Breez Deez Treez drops this summer on Domination. This is good rainy night music. Breez keeps it moving - I wonder how ill the LP will be.

Willie Joe & B.o.B. "Lil' Rascals": I know this track had already been leaked, but after the night I've had, I had to throw this up. I've cracked my 22 of Becks and I'm reflecting on the last 3 hours of my life, damn near murdering my 2 1/2 year old son (in the right) and his homey Noah. Man, these little kids will drive a nigga crazy! Anyways, this track is my shit - something about that part of the Lil' Rascals theme hits me on a certain level. Plus, its cool to think about my son runnin' wild as a lil' nigga... although he'll never be on the level of grime that Willie and Bobby Ray speak on in this one, if I do my job. Fuck that.

"I'm somethin' like a weak-nigga tester" is a dope line. And this is a dope song. And raising a son is one of the dopest things I've done in my life. Otay?

Electrik Red How To Be A Lady, Vol. 1 Cover

How any chick who puts out a single called "We Fuck You" can teach ANYONE how to be a lady is beyond me, but you can pre-order this hypocritical RnB schlock via Amazon.

EDIT Taken from the write-up on Amazon:

"You know how back then the Spice Girls had girl power?" asks Sarah. "With us it's lady power, girl power on crack!"

That doesn't even sound right; remedial life FTL.

M@RV3LOU$ "Fabricated Talk": Gotta love twitter; cats hit you with joints on the regular, and it seems like everything is there, piecemeal. East New York's Marv kicks some real talk about you fake talking niggas atop N*E*R*D's "Rockstar", and it sounds major. Get at him on his blog and on twitter, and be like "send khal more fire!"; this is the first single from his mixtape, Me And My Money.
