Guilty Simpson "Stress" (prod. by J Dilla): He'd never admit it, but this song sounds like my boy, right now. I wish there was some shit I could do, but I feel helpless. Anyways, here's some unreleased Dilla and Guilty from 2004. Enjoy it before they take this link.

I seriously need a copy of the album!
I dropped "Black Superheroes" back in March, and Whygee just hit me with the artwork for the follow-up to Suicide Watch. I got to hear some snippets from this badboy, and I must say - the niggas have come correct. Dope beats + ill rhymes = a no-brainer. Keep it locked for this one, which should be dropping in June! Shouts to Attention Deficit Media for the ill artwork!
01 - Destine 2 Shine [Produced by: Statik Selektah]
02 - 32 Bars Of Respect [Produced by: The RZA]
03 - Take My Turn [Produced by: Devin The Dude]

Bonus Beats Fes Taylor "Fuck Joe Buddens" - I forgot this track existed! All Hip-Hop posted an interview with Joe, where he tries to rectify his comments, but really, he doesn't need to. Blackout 2 is out tomorrow.
Muja Messiah "Yes Sir" (prod. by Che Vicious): This Thursday (May 21st), Midwest Broadcast will be dropping the Flyover Land Vol. 1 tape, featuring artists like M.anifest, Big Quarters and this cut from the homey Muja. The tracklist is over here - check it out, then get prepped for the release on Thursday!
Big L ft. Kid Capri "Put It On (Grant Parks Tribute Remix)": On Big L's bornday (May 30th), Chitown's own Grant Parks will be dropping a tribute to Big L entitled Picture This: Grant is paying homage to one of hip hop's greats, that has been truly missed in today's rap game. Grant has brought Big L. into 2009 where he is very much needed! "Picture This"- a Tribute to Big L. (All tracks produced by Grant Parks) - this should be ill!
Zone (That Dude) ft. Illogic & Ill Poetic "Clap" (prod. by Ill Poetic): Looks like the homey DubMD and Zone are working on a tape; That Dude's Mixtape will feature this cut, as well as joints with Pryslezz, Dwele, T3 and more! This has a dope vibe to it - that bass travels for miles within a few bars. Raw. Zone also has his That Dude project with Mick Boogie on the way - watch out!
Here's a mini mix from my boy Cable, who is helping promote a JME show across the pond next month. An ill primer if you're not introduced to JME, with some slick re-edits and such to boot!

02. Duppy (JME Verse & DJ Cable Re-Edit)
06. Carry Out Orders

Going to be a HOT summer, no?

I totally slept on the Kryptic Minds release on Loefah's Swamp 81 label. Why? I don't know. Shouts to Elucid for putting me onto it, randomly. So I made a ghetto cover for this mix that's dropping on Friday. It was ghetto. Very ghetto. So shouts to the homey Luis Valdizon (of WDIR) for cooking up this cover for me. He sent this over on a whim - I guess he realized the ghettoness of my crapshop concoction - and laced me. And I appreciate it. If you need designs from him, just shout at the dude via twitter. And check back at 6PM Friday for the tape, which is pretty much done (shouts to DJ Cable for his insight).
Dubstep LA, where you at? DJ Nappy, hold your head - I told you I got you!
Dear aspiring rappers/producers/etc.:
I don't know any of these niggas you idolize or want to hook up with. Nothing about rockthedub.com screams "Cam'ron", not any more than some other rappers. Why you feel that, by sending me three tracks and your contact number, I could somehow magically whisk these to Cam or one of his lackeys is beyond me.
Not for nothing, dude does sound like Juelz when he rhyme:
Kazie "Get Cha Money".
Nigga, at least give me a MySpace page.
No excuses. Well, a shitload of excuses, mainly lack of time or energy to knock a new episode of rock the dub radio out. Haven't had a new one since December of '08, and that was my fault. This episode was supposed to be two things: one, it was to highlight my favorite tracks of 2008, and it was to serve as an ode to a fallen soldier, Snoop. I got the first hour done a while ago, and it did both things... but I never sat down to finish hour two. Hour two is just a dumb out, with me throwin' in some joints from the last few weeks that have gotten 'nuff play on my way back and forth to work. And it concludes the Snoop saga. Your thoughts...

Not sure when the next official episode of rock the dub radio will drop, but I had to get this one off my chest. I apologize to anyone who faithfully looked for these every other Sunday... I had heads asking me about the podcast, and I felt like a douche because I just couldn't finish this one for whatever reason.
Let me know if you're feeling it!
A while ago, I tried (and failed) to record some old cassettes to my PC. One of them was this tape; Hive's Implantation was a mixtape I copped at State Of The Art Records on South Street in Philly like 10 years ago, and I've been trying to find a digital copy for the last few years. Today, I finally grabbed one, and I still love this thing. Its that pure dark techstep vibe, with some serious classics thrown in - from both staples in the scene (Tech Itch, Jonny L, Ed Rush & Optical, etc.) and some lesser known tracks - oddly enough, its the cuts like "Sweeper" and "Soundstorm" that stuck out more than the bigger bits. Take a trip back with me as we try to find the mark of the beast on the back of our necks, try to rip out the tracking devices and thoroughly get mashed out by this cavalcade of beats.
Absolute Zero & Subphonics "The Code"
Dylan "The Spine"
Jonny L "Wish U Had Something Remix"
One Drop "Sweeper"
Grasscutter & Extra Breaks "Ridiculous Bass"
Panacea "Chrome 13"
3D & Snuggles "Defender (Problem Child Remix)"
Dylan "Witchcraft Remix"
Future Forces "Cold Fusion"
R.A.W. & E-Sassin "Soundstorm"
Technical Itch "Protection"
Pure Instinct "Glitch"
Ed Rush & Optical "Satellites"
The Chemical Pilot "Classical Fruit (Future Forces Mix)"
What else kills me is that this is apparently a rare release; the info on Discogs.com says that only 50 copies were released? I had no idea, although only one copy of the tape was in the shop when I plunked down my ends. Good buy.
Wordsmith ft. Articulate & Black Knight "The New Street Kings" (prod. by Strada): Did you peep A Crack In The Bridge? If so, you know the fire contained within this one. If not, use this as a primer. Two of the RTD All-Stars unit on this banger. Enjoy it.
Ganja Kru "Gone Are The Days (Frontline Mix)": Some more Saturday Drum & Bass pressure for you. This is one of my all-time favorite tracks. I remember hearing DJ Starchild drop this on WPRB one Sunday night, and I was in heaven. I got so involved in the jazzy intro, that when it gets muddy (I believe Pascal is on the remix here), with those dirty amens, wow. Insta-rewind. Why tracks don't have this much soul and fire in them these days is beyond me.
Caspa ft. Dynamite MC "The Takeover": Taken from Caspa's Everybody's Talking, Nobody's Listening album, one of the illest of out the UK, Dynamite MC, goes in over some 808's & Dubstep provided by Caspa. Watch how they Screw it at the end. I love hearing MCs who know what the fuck they're doing go for theirs over some lower BPMs (whattup Elucid?!!?)...
While I'm in this zone, check out the commercial for the DJ Nappy x RTD mixtape, Did I Do That, which will drop on May 22nd come hell or highwater.
EDIT Gotta love how The Fader "premiered" this, five months after this post.
Tef Poe cracks me up with his lines - he has similies for days! I got this tape around the end of 2008, and didn't realize I was OK to post it. Blame it on the alcohol. ANYWAYS, reintroduce yourself to Tef before that Polo Shirts & Nike Hi-Tops mixtape drops! This features heat from Rockwell Knucklez, Wafeek and Tech Supreme, among others. ENJOY!

1NF0 "Yes You Can": Here's some of that real Hip-Hop from Australia linking up on this mixtape, Information Jakeknowledgy. Jacob Giles & Nick Knowledge drop science on that ass all over this tape, for the true school. Hell, Masta Ace even gets down on a track! Hit up hatonrack.com and get videos, links and download or stream the mixtape!
I don't fuck with Coldplay, but I imagine some of you do. This CD is being given away free on their site, as well as at their concerts, and now you can grab it OnSMASH (ain't they so nice?)...

This isn't a Hip-Hop video, but I neglected posting it, and it cracked me the fuck up this week:
Enjoy your night, I'm off to go drink. Holla!
It's been about a week since I posted those (alleged) Rihanna naked flicks (a post which stays on Page 1 of a "rihanna naked" Google search), and we are still seeing a bare skin Rih Rih all over, included in the latest Excess Banger tape.

Shouts to Highbrid Nation for another one!
Brokn.Englsh "Cherry Popper" (prod. by Def Dom): This track makes me feel like I live in the movie Crooklyn. This is the first single from BE's forthcoming Drawing Board album, which I'm itching to hear. Shouts to BE for being selected to perform at this year's Show & Prove, but need your help: on May 21st, come out to Public Assembly. When they perform this song that they've give to you for free, help 'em out with some crowd participation during the hook. If (when?) BE wins, they will be able to perform at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.
I need to organize a Trenton Hip-Hop Festival. Anyways, BE all day.
Enigmatik, my Houston homey, put together his latest Dance Hall mix, and its a scorcher. He threw a bunch of fly cuts, as well a host of fresh material - I wasn't aware of Aidonia until last night when I put together that "Advocate Riddim" soundclash (expect that to drop next week, I think), but dude has some heat in his rhymes!

How Danger Mouse keeps finding himself in these situations is either horrible karma or some twisted luck. His latest project, Dark Night Of The Soul features Iggy Pop and fucking David Lynch. EMI, however, won't put it out due to contractual disputes. What does Danger Mouse do? Release the album as a blank CD-R. I wonder what you should burn on it...
Props to DJ Concept for hitting me with his latest; this time, he links with Shuko and Ecko Unlimited for the fresh mixtape, hosted by none other than Rapper Big Pooh!

Watch out for the forthcoming M-Dot mixtape, which drops TOMORROW!
fLako ft. Versis "Yeah Yeah Yeah": Cali's Versis takes this mellow groove from fLako to another zone with his lines. Versis had this to say about his reasoning for doing what he does: "I’m in this to make people remember the times when the MC was insatiable when it came to nourishment … staying hungry is the key to me! I’m not a songwriting robot, I write when I feel moved. Writing for the sake of it doesn’t cut-it for me. I started off as just a fan. Slowly, I started noticing I had a way with words. Those words turned to lines, lines to rhymes, rhymes to songs."
Wow. I hate that I've known Elucid for the better part of 2 or 3 years, but there is still some of his catalogue that I've never heard. I let him know that I hadn't heard his Progress mixtape, which was made during early 2003 and 2005, and released before Smash N Grab, and he finally laced me with the .zip, and now its on YOU! While his potent poetry and flawless flow are still in tact, the beat selection was a bit "safer": he murders Slim Thug's "Life A Boss", rediscovered Beanie Sigel's "Purple Rain" and coasted over a host of original production from niggas like Imported Goodz. I've always appreciated his leftfield flex over modern Hip-Hop, but its been his post-Smash N Grab material, where he's dabbled in dubstep, punky-electro and other BPMs that I really understood where he was. His G is truly too futuristic for some niggas...
DOWNLOAD Elucid The Progress Mixtape
And this is where I go into what we call the "real talk" portion of our seminar. See, this cat Young H of Go In Radio did a dope tribute to Lessondary (download this trip back HERE), where he included the title track of this mixtape, and not much else from Elucid. That seemed odd, and when he got into his own commentary towards the end, dropping what I guess he thought was constructive criticism? Check out the clip HERE. Now, fam, I understand that tracks like "Laser Days" and the other sounds Elucid dropped on the aforementioned Smash N Grab and his phenomenal Police & Thieves mixtape - I get that. But the fact that you pulled out the word "hipster" to describe it comes off as ignorant. Not ignorant like Soulja Boy, but ignorant in the literal sense of the word, i.e. you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. It's that mentality that helps crush proper independent Hip-Hop from the inside. Cats will forever talk about "keepin' the music pure" or whatever, but their reference points are The Native Tongues. Hip-Hop was born and dropping tracks like "Planet Rock", which is still a staple... and also helped birth genres like Electro! Now the dubstep used in "Laser Days" is closer to "Planet Rock" than most of the Hip-Hop I imagine you champion out there; this thing we know as Hip-Hop is just as much "Can I Kick It?" as it is "Walk This Way". Timbaland's BPM excursions and Kanye West's 808's & Heartbreak are just as Hip-Hop as any Preemo beat Nas raps on. Just because its not YOUR view of Hip-Hop, why the fuck would you discredit Elucid's vision for his particular form of Hip-Hop? He's not saying his shit isn't Hip-Hop, so why are you? It's the ying and the yang - just because its not a dusty Madlib sample doesn't mean its any less Hip-Hop, and it for damn sure wasn't created to symbolize some hipster movement - it was a creative evolution from the tunes like "Progress" that you love! There'd be no Elucid now without Elucid then.
And for many of us out there, Elucid now is putting the proper lyrical slant on varying styles of music out there and - God willing - this vision will manifest itself. Shouts on your tribute, but fall back on the ignorant statements, homey.

This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of May 13, 2009 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.
This week's commentary focused on the absurd bill that Rep. John Conyers (Democrat - Michagan) is trying to pass through the U.S. Congress called HR848, that if it passes, will have various NEW music costs are passed on to all sorts of FM radio station owners, with the high possibility that great deal of Black-owned Radio Stations (and just regular radio station period) to shut down due to various economic issues.
We talked about the potential impact this could have culturally in the U.S. for not just the Black Community, but for the music community at large from music artists, to listeners and others.
We also had a great interview with independent Hip-Hop MC, producer, graphic artist & activist Ravage the MeccaGodzilla (http://www.ravagenrumble.com).
We covered everything from Ravage's influences, being one of the founders of G.A.ME (the Grassroots Artists MovEment) in NYC, his history with the music industry from being a member of the supercollective Monsta Island Czars (MF Doom, MF Grimm, etc.) and beyond, Ravage's vision of the growth of Hip-Hop & where it needs to go, his latest album project (the "Erroars" production LP) & upcoming music situation, the international scene and more!
We do have a new Black Agenda Report segment but no new Direct EFX segment this week.
