Pigeon Hole ft. D-Sisive "Light Show"

Pigeon Hole ft. D-Sisive "Light Show": Here's a leak from Pigeon Hole (aka Dusty & Marmalade from Sweatshop Union), and it has an ill groove IMO. Dude's sound kinda nerdy pon the mic, but I'm not mad - the track has its own quirks, This is taken from their Age Like Astronauts album, which drops on URBNET on June 15 and features cats like Moka Only and many more.

Leonard Dstroy "Hello Darling"

Leonard Dstroy "Hello Darling": Cotdamn. Elucid hit me up about this cat, and I didn't know what to expect. Well, I figured it'd be leftfield, but wasn't prepared for the funky, glitched out excellence that I found in this track. Has the melodies which I thrive on, but is also very fucked the fuck up, which is also a pre-req. This is taken from Leonard's Higher Vibrations release, which I recommend on the strength of this jawn, plus the fact that he and Gutta should have some intense heat dropping soon.

Seven Day Concepts EP

I told you guys this one was on the way, and I'm glad it sprung a bit early. I'll let Listed break down who Seven Day is: "Seven Day is a Los Angeles based Hip Hop group formed in 2006. The duo Jay Diction(emcee) and Listed(Producer/Emcee) are brothers that have been creating music since the age of 14. In the last year they've been doing shows all over Los Angeles opening for acts such as Dilated Peoples, Pete Rock, RA The Rugged Man, and more.. Their high energy on stage and politically charged/party/conscious/ lyrics make Seven Day a group that stands out in this flooded market". This EP balances that line - definitely some social conscious in their lines, but also some straight up jam tracks. Need something to burn a serious tree to? Highly recommend this.

MiLKMEN ft. Soulja Boy "Pretty Boy Swag (Remix)": I'm glad these niggas jumped on this beat - I saw Soulja Boy "in studio perform" to this track, and was lovin' the ignant beat - just can't stand his rhyming. Served With Milk & Honey on the way.

T.I. "Yeah Ya Know (Takers)" [clean | dirty]: When I saw someone tweet that this Tip record was serious, I had a feeling it'd sound like this. T.I. knows how to make those massive anthems for the traps, specifically the areas Down South. I actually like when he flows quicker - just a good match, even if the nigga isn't saying shit new. Very uninspired hook, but you can't win 'em all, and I can just hear the wankstas on my block holding up a styrofoam cup and "sangin'" to this one...

Homeboy Sandman "Yeah, But I Can Rhyme Though" (prod. by Ski Beatz): Here's a cut from Sandman's The Good Sun LP, which is due out on June 1st. Homey breaks down his personality and style, letting cats know that no matter WHATEVER you think might be a flaw, this cat can still spit which, in the long and short of the Rap game, should truly be the only criteria. Jeff Weiss also cooked up a dope feature on Sandman via the LA Times.

Sorry, but I get more excited. Well, maybe excited isn't the word - I'm definitely more interested in the album than I thought I'd be.

Side note: you think Weezy claiming Blood in jail like he does so freely on this track?

Look for snippets to be coming out in June 2010 - I'm glad its finally completed!

Gil Scott-Heron ft. Mos Def "New York is Killing Me": And you thought the version with Nas was dope; I'd actually like to hear both Nas and Mos Def go in together, but Black Dante is a much better fit for this track than Nasir Jones IMHO. Still gritty and funky, but I think Mos' down-home flow in his first verse is a great fit. Enjoy.

The Roots How I Got Over Cover+Tracklist

Last week, I asked heads on twitter what Hip-Hop albums they were looking forward to this summer, and a lot of them said the new album from The Roots. Def Jam has this coming out on June 22nd (a week after Drake's Thank Me Later), and I hope it comes out on time. This might also be one of the shortest Roots LPs ever. Don't know why I mentioned that, just seems odd.

Tracklist:

1. Walk Alone (Truck North, Porn, Dice Raw, Mercedes Martinez)
2. Dear God 2.0 (Jim James, MOF)
3. Radio Daze (Blu, Porn, Dice Raw, Mercedes Martinez)
4. Now Or Never (Phonte Coleman, Dice Raw)
5. How I Got Over (Dice Raw)
6. The Day (Blu, Phonte Coleman, Patty Crash)
7. Right On (Joanna Newsom, Sugar Tongue Slim)
8. Doin It Again (John Legend)
9. The Fire (John Legend, Rick Friedrich)

Wow - STS, Blu AND Phonte make appearances? Shouts to RR.

EDIT Okayplayer says that this tracklist was missing a few tracks:

10. Web 20/20 (Truck North, Peedi Crakk)
11. Bonus Cut

Word is that there are 3 or 4 unnamed interludes, and the bonus track's name is not known as of yet. The listening session for this LP is tonight (5/20/10), so yeah, we'll see what comes about.

Word is T did a bunch of production on Versis' new project, so you gotta figure this shit is gonna be dope. Has a dope throwback sound, Ummah-esque, which fits Versis' style perfectly.
