FTG ft. Shinobi Stalin & Daewon "One Step From Greatness"

FTG ft. Shinobi Stalin & Daewon "One Step From Greatness": Here's another leak from Sean J & Soy's WTF? mixtape, with a crazy beat. I love when people chop those older-sounding TV or Movie scores, with the weird bands and odd textures. Beat must've been good, Soy even got on the mic on this one!

89 the Brainchild ft. Wordspit "I'm On"

89 the Brainchild ft. Wordspit "I'm On" (prod. by Tai the Infamous One): Slick #NJHIPHOP from 89, featuring Brooklyn's own Wordspit, taken from Trill Cosby, which is set to drop this Fall and feature Michael Cardigan and many more heads. No real theme on this, aside from niggas slapping the shit out of a dope beat.

QuESt "Everybody Has A Story"

QuESt "Everybody Has A Story" (prod. by M.Will The Shogun): Much better than the last track I posted from QuESt, this talented cat coasts over that jazz bass. Oddly enough, this won't be on The Reason: A Defense Mechanism; I hope the project has tracks that beast like this and not the other.

TheSekondElement "Closer Pt. II": Loving this new one from homegirl. The singing along with the beat, paired with her buttery vocal, reminds me of Floetry. I'm glad to hear that the first time I got sent some tunes by her, it wasn't a fluke. Very talented MC, loving the style.

Ill Poetic The World Is Ours Instrumentals

From Ill Poetic: "So in continuance of "The World is Ours" Re-Release campaign that I've been working on for the Summer, I wanted to release the Instrumentals for this record as a free download. I realized 2 weeks ago that I've never even actually made an instrumental version of this record for myself. So I had the pleasure of digging through the original files for this album and getting nostalgic at all the recording sessions. There are even a couple added instruments here and there this time around, since I got to dig fully back into each songs format.

I'm doing all this as a way of preparing for a huge run of projects that I'm in the midst of wrapping up now (including the follow-up to this record). So I promise I'm not stuck in the past, Just catching the past up to the present so i can work on the future. Hope y'all enjoy it. Hope some emcees catch some writing inspiration. Hope some people catch some riding inspiration".

If you guys hook up anything over these beats, let me know!

Nucci Reyo "Change My Name"

Nucci Reyo "Change My Name" (prod. by Elete): Following up "Mean What I Say", Nucc and Elete link up for this interesting track. Nucci is definitely immersed in his new-found religion, and you can't get mad at that. If you know the story of Saul/Paul in the Bible, you might get where Nucci is coming from. In Due Season is still on the way.

YC The Cynic "Summertime High"

YC The Cynic "Summertime High" (prod. by JFree): This summer has been some bullshit. I'm waiting for some kind of reprieve from the muggy air, but all I find are Yuenglings and sweaty sheets. This is one of those tracks that could turn a horrid day fun, though - perfect soundtrack to beat the heat right here. Looks like Cynic has a project, The Spectacle on the way, so be on the lookout!

&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;a href="http://ycthecynic.bandcamp.com/track/summertime-high"&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;Summertime High by YC The Cynic&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/a&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;

The Spitzwell Brotherz "Hollywood Annulment"

The Spitzwell Brotherz "Hollywood Annulment": I was kind of surprised at how much I forgot I dug the "Hollywood Divorce" instrumental. Beat is different - love the melody. ANWYAYS, the TSB go bananers on this one, mainly because it's been a minute since they've touched down. I also forget how much I love their tracks until I let this one play - intricate.

Dutch New York "Poppin Rubberbands"

Dutch New York "Poppin Rubberbands": DNY's Katrina Flood mixtape is set to drop on July 28th, so he figured it made sense to hit the people with his latest single, and it's a monster. Proper banger for the summer, trust and believe - turn this one UP when you're cruising the streets.

Aquatic Son "JayDillaJayDeeJamesYancey"

Aquatic Son "JayDillaJayDeeJamesYancey": Not sure what prompted this tribute, but I dig how homey did it, with the letters of Dilla's name being accented in his verses. Rest In Peace, Jay Dee. You're sorely missed, good brother.

Brian James "City Lights"

Brian James "City Lights": James reps Compton, but isn't the khaki-sportin' Jheri curl gangstas that you might stereotypically think of automatica. He runs his own label, Galaxy West Entertainment, and is fueled by the pursuit of change for his community, which is definitely upstanding. Dude isn't the most dynamic MC, but he holds his own, and has a great message. His Eat Or Get Eaten Vol. 2 mixtape is due out in 2 weeks, so if you dig these, grab that!

The Search Episode 1

Halifax's very own Quake has been working closely with St. Lucia's hometown hero, Kayo. He is featured several times on Quake's highly anticipated album entitled 'The Myth' to be released this summer under Classified's Half Life Records imprint.

The two artists have decided to work on a special EP project in collaboration with Ritchcraft - the Canadian producer that brought you The Big Band Blueprint & Lives & Vibes with Virginia MC Intalek.

The EP is entitled "The Search" and is based on a short story. The story itself is somewhat autobiographical but conveys real emotions, trials and tribulations that the average person 'in search of a purpose' can relate to.

This is the 1st episode to a series of viral videos that the trio will put out prior to the EP.

"The Search" is scheduled for an early fall release. More details will be available in the upcoming weeks.

Earl Sweatshirt "Deerskin"

Earl Sweatshirt "Deerskin": Wow. Here's a vintage Earl cut over some vintage MF DOOM shit, and it's knockin'. This isn't as sadistic as "Earl", but you can hear this lil' niggas crazy lyricism on here. And yes, I do detect a lil' but of Metal Face in his cup, at least back then. Earl is the (odd) future.

Tef Poe "Touchdown" (prod. by Tech Supreme): You know what's funny? Tef was in NY around the time of the Puerto Rican Day Parade, and I would joke about how he gonna leave w/ a few baby mommas. What does this nigga do? Writes a track about the ho's he has when he lands in your town. LOL. Word from IREPSTL is that this is taken from Tech's forthcoming Obligation mixtape, which is hosted by Derrty DJ Stan Da Man. Supreme produced the entire thing, and has cuts from Murphy Lee, Rockwell Knuckles, Chingy and a number of other Lou-minaries.

Jazmine Sullivan ft. Vainsmith "Holding You Down": Feels like some late 90s shit, when RnB tracks were essentially blends of fire Hip-Hop tracks. The homegirl Vain throws some bars atop the latest jawn from Jazmine, which is a heatrock BTW. DJs, get on this one!

2 Hungry Bros & 8thW1 ft. Sleepwalkas "Be On You": Surprised no one else threw this one up; this is a cut taken from No Room For Dessert, the 8thW1 album that's produced by 2HB, which drops on July 27th. Shit's dope. Niggas trying to mack on these females they wanna be on. The beat is as slick as the rhymes are. Proper martini'd up '70s player movements in this one. And you sleepin'. Do NOT sleep on the album release party on the 26th, though!

Rick Ross' Answering Machine

With Rick Ross seemingly having an identity crisis (think about it: he thinks he's Big Meech, Larry Hoover, "Freeway" Ricky Ross, Biggie and a cocaine dealer, among other luminaries), Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg figured it made sense to call Rawse and talk to him about his situation. They got his answering machine, and heard an interesting message...

Utah Jazz "Quincy (Pharcyde Vocal VIP)"

Utah Jazz "Quincy (Pharcyde Vocal VIP)": Seems like every Friday evening I post some DnB track that has some vocals in it that bridge that DnB/Hip-Hop gap. I know a lot of people have been salivating for the throwback sample in "Quincy", but I had no idea that the flipside rocked the "Passin' Me By" vocals in it! Shit reminds me of how DnB used to be, really wearing all of its influences on its sleeve. If you mess with this, I highly recommend you cop Vintage, Utah Jazz's new LP.

Mic Wilson "Tunnel Love": When The Roots' How I Got Over dropped, I was amazed by the "Tunnel Vision" interlude, so much so that I tweeted about why this hadn't been made a song. Of course Mr. Merk Early hits me like "I'm already plotting it"; he hits me like "Merk Late", but we all know no one else was trying to coast over this. Lyle Horowitz has been working in a real studio over the last 8 months, and felt the need to purge the remainder of his Fruity Loops-era productions, which he deems "a collection of sketches, experiments, loops and unreleased material". He's left a lot of the beats open, so any MCs worth their weight in mustard and itching to hop on one of these, go in, then e-mail your creation to 5846films@gmail.com. Word is that Lyle's next album, Night Creatures, is due out August 30th, is co-produced by MidPoint and is said to feature a lead single with Elucid! El Gant ft. Bekay & DeeJay Element "You Ain't This" (prod. by DJ Iron): Wow - El Gant is a 4x MTV Direct Effect battle champ, and he links up with Bekay & BBAS' own DeeJay Element to flip disgusting over this Belgium-born beat from Iron that has a sly guitar flavor atop some HARD drums. Sounds like a blues-y Preem, if that sounds right. Shouts to Dutchmaster.

Tyler, The Creator, Hodgy Beats & Domo Genesis "Up (Chopped & Screwed)" (prod. by Mike G): I saw a few OFWGKTA tracks Chopped & Screwed by Mike G on YouTube, and I'm glad we got a MP3 of Mike's C&S version of this Radical track. The original's already laidback, perfect for weed inhalation, but Mike transports the track to mid-high, when you're just stuck to the couch, cooled out. Try it.
