Finally. Shouts to Black Collar Biz for letting ya boy let this one loose. He's been on that #HGA (aka High Grade Artistry) ish for a minute, and I'm glad. The moment we look at this music as ART, the more we start to take stock in what we're feeding the masses. On this, the first official look from #HGA, we find a KVZE-produced beat letting Trenton titans Big Ooh and Black Collar revisiting the same zone Nas was on the Illmatic track "One Love," but bringing things up to date. A couple of men talking out their feelings over a beat, illuminating the ills of today's struggle and the need of finding more. With the summer heating up, and the murder rate rising, you have to wonder... if someone had grabbed that trigger finger and pointed it in the direction of something positive, where would we all be? Life's way too short to get hung up on the bullshit. Pour something strong into a glass and lament on those gone, but then realize that the trife way isn't the only way.
I'm talking too much, though. Loop this one up and enjoy it. One love. Oh and if you can grab the track via this link or hitting "Buy" in the SoundCloud preview below.
TheCombatJackShow: "On his return to The Combat Jack Show, Bravo's top chef, Roblé talks Trayvon Martin and how he still gets profiled, why he doesn't hit chicks he works with, his Food Porn clothing line, his past "beef's" with Mike Tyson and Sean Price and more. Tune in cuh cuh."
Gangsta Gibbs makes his third appearance as a guest host. We talk about his foray into Hollywood, why he has beef with Jadakiss, his upcoming album with Madlib and the time Michael Jackson visited Gary, Indiana. We also go into the outcome of the George Zimmerman trial. Jamal Jimoh of Nick Cannon fame also talks his 125 pound weight loss and what Dallas Penn, A-King and I need to do to live healthier. #HotOilWrestling"
Via TheCombatJackShow: "The current king of Black people reality tv stopped by. He's more than just a funny face. Stevie J takes us back to when he was down with Jodeci, Bad Boy, Eve, the Jacksons. Wait til you hear who smacked the shit out of who, why he thinks Madonna and barbiturates killed Devanté Swing's career, and all the other things he experienced before LHHATL. This episode might end up in your top 5. It doesn't stop Internets."
It’s been five months since RockTheDub featured Zedd. Since then, the EDM breakthrough artist has been hard at work and it is certainly very evident.
Clarity and Everything Else
His single Clarity ft. Foxes has reached number 1 in Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs and has been in the top 20 of music charts internationally. His album of the same name landed the top spots as well in the Billboard charts and Apple Store downloads. As of present, Zedd is now busy promoting his upcoming world tour aptly dubbed, Moment of Clarity. And did we mention he was one of many renowned DJs asked to take up residency in one of the swankiest new night clubs in Las Vegas? For sure he’s not going to be just playing around with poker chips and a deck of cards there.
Going into detail about his concert, Zedd initially planned to have a worldwide concert after the cancellation of Lady Gaga’s world tour which he was supposedly a part of. That was January. Now he has solidified his plans and is all set starting August. As music news site MStarz.com reports, “While all of the locations for the world tour covering 6 continents in 4 months have not yet been unveiled, the 26 dates for the US & Canada stops have been announced (including Electric Zoo in NYC). The North American leg of the world tour kicks off in Boston on August 28th and concludes on October 3rd in Oregon.” The #MoC Tour includes visits to North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. To know how everything is progressing, this tweet from Zedd may give you an idea.
Now for the casino enthusiasts and those dreaming to go to Las Vegas, our German music genius will be another great reason to visit the poker strip city. Zedd has been asked to take up show residency in the casino capital of the US. It’s not just at any casino-resort however. Before its opening last April, Mandalay Bay’s The Light Las Vegas took in world renowned DJs to regularly have shows there. Along with Zedd, Las Vegas will also be enjoying the companies of Baauer, Skrillex, Nicky Romero, Alesso and many other successful EDM producers. The Light has already attracted various types of clubbers, from geeky PartyCasino gamers, laid back Tumblr hipsters, up to party-loving Instagram groupies. Why the techie nicknames? It relates with the times we have now. It also seems appropriate given how techie the newest nightclub venue is. Check out DubStep.net’s description of The Light Las Vegas.
One more great reason why so many are becoming fans of the German EDM producer is his social media candour and “quirky-ness”. Remember how he danced in pink underwear, bowtie, and suspenders during the Ultra Music Fest because of a dare by DeadMau5? Well, those funny antics continue on Twitter. Just last week, #Zeddception became a worldwide trending topic with Twitter users changing their profile photos to Zedd’s photo. Once again, it was another bright idea by dear friend DeadMau5 which, as Zedd tweets, “escalated VERY quickly!”
