The Combat Jack Show: The Glen Friedman & Theotis Jones Episode

Via TheCombatJackShow: "OG photographer Glen E Friedman, the only man who can claim to have captured the definitive moments of the early days of hip-hop, skateboarding and punk rock waxed historical poetry on this episode. If you’re sleeping on him, peep Glen’s covers for seminal albums like ‘It Takes Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back’ and ‘Yo! Bum Rush The Show’, LL’s ‘Bad’, The Beastie Boy’s ’Check Your Head’ and of course, Ice T’s ‘Power’.

On top of knowledge facts, Glen goes at Dallas Penn’s Republican dreams and meat loving ways while giving less than %1 of a fuxs.

The Loud Speaker Network very own Theotis Jones stopped by to put a voice to the name and breaks down why he continues to visually bring heat to The Combat Jack Show."

The Rub ft. Misun "Feel You"

"Feel You" is the first song from The Rub EP, coming June 11.

With their self-titled EP, The Rub, the duo behind the monthly party that the Village Voice deemed NYC’s best, release four new songs that, in the spirit of the party, bring the heat across genre. Although their It’s the Motherfuckin’ Remix mixtape series received praise in outlets like Spin, Pitchfork, and MTV, The Rub EP is the group’s first release of original music.

Where opener “Feel You” places D.C. singer Misun over an electronic soul track worthy of Portishead, “Dutty Gal” (featuring Natalie Storm) increases the BPMs and lowers the bass, delivering a peak hour electro-dancehall rattler in the vein of DJ Zinc and Major Lazer. “Black & White,” meanwhile, is a radio-ready NYC rap track with hard verses from Bronx newcomer Bigg Base and a big hook from Tatiana Owens, and instrumental closer “At Night” offers uneasy late night ambience with deep bass and rolling 808s that recall the work of producers like SBTRKT and Ryan Hemsworth.

In the coming months, expect a Fader mix (June), a remix EP (July), and more sweaty nights at The Rub, where DJs Ayres and Eleven will keep you dancing early into the morning (every last Saturday at the Bell House).

Boom Blake ft. Ill Kayn "C'est La Vie"

TMP2: Expensive Taste is on the way, and this is the first you're hearing from it. Boom Blake over this Ill Kayn instrumental? Sounding kind of crazy.

Emilio Sparks Experience, EP31: Dirty Dickinson

Via EmilioSparks: "Waddup scumbags! After a LOOONG hiatus, Emilio and Carg return to discuss what’s been going on while they’ve been away. Emilio discusses his romantic troubles and Carg tries to assure him that being written about on a website about “bad guys” isn’t so bad. They are joined by professional wrestler Chris Dickinson who discusses his life on the road, fitness, and general shenanigans. This is a great episode and we’re glad to be back."

Naughty By Nature on Juan Epstein

"Oh ish! The legendary Treach and Kay Gee came in to tell all about the history of Naughty!"

Tone Liv - Cheap Porn, Tall Cans, & T.V. Dinners

When Tone told me the title of this record at the Jersey Fresh Jam last year, I nearly fell out. That might've been because of the tall cans I was drinking, but hell, to see it finally see the light of day kills me. He's got a lot of the homies on here, including Latebloomer, Pryme Prolifik, DJ Priority, SciFi Stu, and J Gainey on the beats. You can download this for free via TheHipHopHead, or cop a CD for $10 via Bandcamp.

The Combat Jack Show: The Return of Toure

Via TheCombatJackShow: "MSNBC’s own Touré returned ready for combat. The convo was all over the place, from his new book “I would Die 4 U: Why Prince Became An Icon” to working with Nas on his upcoming autobiography, to Touré firing shots at the crew for labeling him the white one. Pete challenges Touré for being an a.s.s.h.o.l.e. and a poser. Who wins? Tune in and see, once again, Touré at his blackest. #Newmanati!. “I Would Die 4 U: Why Prince Became An Icon” available in stores now."
