Produced by Navie D, taken from his next project, Books & Chicks & Brooklyn Shit.

DJ Wonder presents AnimalStatus EP13 (01/30/2013)

13 is unlucky for most, but DJ Wonder was like "fuck that" and kicked off this week's edition of AnimalStatuS with a special world premiere of Carnage's "SpaceMan". And it didn't stop there; he finds cuts from Clicks & Whistles, Baauer, and himself thrown smack up against Project Pat, Le1F, KRNDN and motherfucking Tyga. Ferocious, bitches. Who else has this?!

Angel Haze & DJ Cable - BBC Radio 1 Mini Mix

DJ Cable's everywhere; Annie Mac asked Angel Haze to contribute a mini mix for her BBC Radio 1 show, and Cable got the honors to mix it up. 14 tracks in six minutes, ranging from 2 Chainz to Calvin Harris.

AMiAM ft. Young Zee & Rah Digga "Wildin"

This cat AMiAM is from Florida, and comes recommended from Phil at Side-B; he also has two Jersey vets on this cut. This is taken from his album The Combine, and if you need that classic rap? Highly recommend this one. Cop it for half a buck.

Artic "B-Town II"

It's been a while since we've heard from Artic, but I hear he's working on some new music. It's been over four years since he dropped "B-Town," and in the spirit of the Ravens being in the Super Bowl this coming weekend, he revamped the original into this. Enjoy, and keep an eye out for the god.

Nico the Beast - "Palace"

While Nico the Beast's biography and catalog are mostly unsung to the public, they read as a movie script in the making. Those that have followed the Philadelphia emcee since his 2009 release of the critically acclaimed Dinner is Served mixtape have since had a front-row seat to a dark artistic progression fueled by near-death experiences and untimely losses of loved ones.  Through the brush of cinematic stories and grizzly vocals that mark his more recent releases, Nico's brilliance with pure lyricism and wordplay is sometimes lost in the mix...
This is why Public Axis, Maad Management and RocktheDub.com are proud to announce the 2013 release of Dinner is Served Vol 2, Nico the Beast's deliberate, carefully planned sequel to his "most hip-hop" project to date... and what better way to get the war drums rolling than a Clams Casino favorite.

The Combat Jack Show (1/23/2013)

Via TheCombatJackShow: "Due to popular demand (and a last minute cancellation by Brooklyn’s own Joey BadA$$ and Dyme-A-Duzin) there were no special guests on this week’s show—but we did get to have the Cheat Code Just Blaze call in to talk about his current smash hit “Higher” with Baauer, Dallas Penn recapped his LoEnd Theory event, we got to interview two new potential interns and delivered a hilarious prank call to Premium Pete’s aunt, in which the cable company encourages her to start watching BET. Plus, DJ Benhameen continues to kill with his mixes. It don’t ever stop. #Nemanati!"

DJ Wonder presents AnimalStatus EP12 (01/23/2013)

Wonder goes in on this episode; he drops a WORLD PREMIERE on his track "Ouija," as well as cuts from ETC!ETC! and Mic The Drums; then he goes the total opposite and drops some Billy Joel among the Kendrick Lamar, Killer Mike, and Scarface. Always rocking all angles, fuck the dumb shit.

DJ Wonder presents AnimalStatus EP11 (01/16/2013)

Once again, it's on. DJ Wonder's AnimalStatuS went everywhere, from new Green Lantern to some fucking Gnarls Barkley, with a grip of Carnage, Jay-Z, CRNKN, A Tribe Called Quest and much more. Diversity, snitches. Deal with it.

The Combat Jack Show: The Raekwon Episode

Via TheCombatJackShow: "Raekwon stopped by to drop some Lost Jewels on the crew as we tried to cram 20 years of rich history into one show. We talked about his love for house music, what makes him and Ghost stand out from the rest of the clan, living under the Rza dictatorship, how he made the Ralph Lauren Snow Beach ‘Lo piece a classic and what his name is via the Wu-Tang Name Generator. The Chef also drops a few bars on beats supplied by Just Blaze. Verbal intercourse indeed."

[video] Black Spade & Nato Caliph ft. Teresa Jenee "Coitus Magnetic"

This is taken from Spade & Caliph's Force Majeure project, the Cassette Tape EP.

[video] Tone Liv ft. Blackout "You"

This got filmed at the last Jersey Fresh Jam; it includes a number of NJ Hip-Hop luminaries, and me in the background. Jersey's all we know. Shouts to Tone and Blackout.

The Combat Jack Show (1/10/2013)

Randomly got to see Combat, Dallas and Matt yesterday. Love the #newman family. Via TheCombatJackShow: "New York Times Pop Culture critic Jon Caramanica helped us kick off 2013 as he talks about his journey to the Grey Lady, how artists like Rick Ross are able to survive in Hip Hop’s “post truth” era, how Chief Keef is just as important to the culture as your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper and more. We’re back. Newmanati!"

[video] Earl Sweatshirt ft. Tyler, the Creator "Pigeons"

One of my favorite cuts from EARL finally gets a video. Wow. Via RR.

[video] Sean Price "Bully Rap"

Saw the god @Dallas_Penn yesterday on the random. He didn't tell me he hooked up the perfect video for this Sean Price track. #newman

PleaseDontStare & RockTheDub Present Face Melting Material

You should know BenHa Meen from a number of spots, either as the man behind PleaseDontStare.com or the DJ for The Combat Jack Show. He's been bitten by that dubstep bug! He wanted to put together a mix of dubstep tracks, especially tracks that remixed r&b, soul, and rock tracks, and I helped him with some tracks. This mix is the result. You may have even heard him spin part of this mix on Combat's show a few months back. Everyone from The Weeknd and Frank Sinatra to Ellie Goulding and Future get flipped in this explosive, face-melting mix. It's officially face-melting material. Shouts to the mighty Theotis Jones on the sick artwork!

DAD: The Revenge of the Rave: Why 2013 is the Year EDM Goes Mainstream

Now that I've got the podium, I have to show you how I view things. DAD isn't about sitting the background - we're in your face, letting you know what time it is! Check out the State of EDM, and where we think it'll be heading as 2013 progresses.

Introducing Do Androids Dance

I announced back in August that I got hired by Complex, but didn't go into details. Now, I can do just that!

Last summer, I saw Complex EIC Noah Callahan-Bever tweeting about EDM writers. I threw my name in the hat for two reasons: one, because I figured "why the fuck not?!", and two, I was kind of tipsy (it was literally like 10 minutes after an episode of Monday Night Raw). What I DIDN'T expect was the pouring of support and props from people I've interacted with over the years, name I won't be out here dropping because I don't play those games, but people like YN and that crew knew the score.

Now, the thing is, no one knew that Complex was starting an EDM blog. I figured they wanted to expand the Music channel with more dance music, but when I got word that there was going to be a legit dance music blog that they owned and operated? It's one of those things where I know it's right up my alley, but I don't want to psych myself out. LONG STORY SHORT, we discussed particulars and I ended up getting the gig...of running the EDM blog. Which debuts today.

YOU DON'T KNOW HOW LONG I'VE WANTED TO JUST BLURT THIS INFORMATION TO ALL OF YOU. THIS PAST WEEKEND HAS BEEN CRAZY WITH ME KNOWING THE SITE IS RIGHT THERE BUT I CAN'T LET THE BLOG OUT OF THE BAG.

Pardon my excitement. In any case, head on over to DoAndroidsDance.com, where I'll be covering EDM and how it relates to the musical world we live in on the regular. Check out what Complex has to say about it, and spread the word. Follow us on twitter and Facebook, and tell a friend to tell a friend.

Shouts to everyone at Complex, including NCB, OJ, Jacob, Joe, Jack, and the whole crew, especially Julian and Cedar (#superFuchsia). Props to my wife and family for always believing in me. Huge respect to the entire Pigeons & Planes crew, readers and fans for putting up with my EDM posts as well. Shouts to everyone who fucks with anything I've been doing, or anyone who's ever given me a chance to cover music. It's been a long road to now, and we're just getting started!
