Now this is the kind of amazingness that I want to hear. Word is that Fool's Gold will be dropping Meyhem Lauren's Piatto D'Oro for free(!), and this Harry Fraud-produced "Bonus Round" is just too amazing. Roc Marciano, Action Bronson and Big Body Bes all contribute, and there's something about Roc's verse that kills me. So fucking luxurious.
If you know RTD, you know the Brown Bag AllStars. One of the BBAS cats to really shine bright has been J57, who's taken his acumen as a producer and turned into a very capable producer, working with everyone from Nitty Scott, MC to Homeboy Sandman. A few years back, J dropped "The Main Event (Remix)," a track featuring Action Bronson, Meyhem Lauren, Maffew Ragazino, and Rasheed Chappell. This was before a lot of these guys really got national recognition, and features a beat that is sample-free and contains a silky bassline midway. It looks like homey went back into the studio to give the tune an entirely new feel, and will be releasing it officially on November 11. Stream the (clean) version below, and pre-order that bad boy right now.
Some real talk goes down on this episode. I say we should ban together and knock down the door(s) at satellite stations and let them know about the real. Combat Jack keeps it all the way live in the beginning. Special guests Meyhem Lauren, Harry Fraud and AG Da Coroner are in as well. Respect The Fly Shit drops today. Fucks with this then go find that. You already know. Might need to do that petition myself...
Shouts to Hevehitta for sending this one over. Taking inspiration from Style Wars, he flipped this 15-track mix, with a focus on the art of Graffiti: "If you are not familiar with The Writers Bench, it was a meeting place located at 149th Street Grand Concourse where graffiti writers would talk graffiti, make plans, sign black books and settle disputes. The main activity was watching art on the passing trains (known as benching). The writers would admire and criticize the latest paintings". I'm just loving that he included Pack FM's "Click, Clack & Spray". Makes me want to re-buy Getting Up.
Do you really need me telling you that Action Bronson is a beast? Or that Party Supplies makes a grip of heat on the boards? If I do, then shit - what the fuck were you listening to in 2011? In any case, Complex and Reebok, two brands I don't really get behind too tough, backed this, so shouts to them for that. You get a free project of great Rap. Presented by DJ Booth. Drink it down slow.
One of the illest conglomerates that I've been throwing tune after tune at you for the longest. They are a great collective, and 2011 might have been their year. 38 tracks of their flyest are here, showcasing how ill their year was. Big things from them in 2012!
@Dallas_Penn-produced video ft. Meyhem Lauren, Maffew Ragazino & AG da Corner. And Herc. And Hulk. And Black Nick Fury. And Frank Castle The Punisher.
This shit is like awesome Christmas gifts gone wild. If you're in NY tonight, you can catch most of these fools (Dallas included, I imagine) at the Highline.
I definitely just posted some Brown Bag shit, but goddamn! I fuck around with J57, because he wants to fight. He's going to catch a two-piece just for living one of these days. Outside of our animosity, this dude is a fucking monster on the production. This track is a perfect example - he provides one of those hoodie-low, multiple rewinds on the Walkman beats here, with the wild keys and loooooooooooooow bass. And he must have been rocking DP.com, as he grabbed features from Meyhem Lauren, Action Bronson and Maffew Ragazino - on one track, alongside the beastly Rasheed Chappell?!?! My lawd. Late contender for posse cut of the year. Cuts from DJ Brace, of course. Taken from J's forthcoming 2057 EP, which of course he didn't tell me a release date for. Only thing "forthcoming" will be a Timberland to his ass. #McSchmuck!
