DOA: 07.2012 (mixed by Disc Jockey Nappy)

Better late than never? Nappy's got a lot on his plate, but shouts to him for keeping the people dancing to the Drum & Bass. Fresh flavors from July from Utah Jazz, Loadstar, Rene LaVice, Shimah, Prolix and plenty more. Freshness on deck. Grab this via DOA.

Breakbeat Kaos: The Story of DJ Fresh & Adam F

On August 6th, BBC Radio 1 will be premiering a dope documentary on Adam F & DJ Fresh, the legends and figureheads behind Breakbeat Kaos. If you know EDM, you know their pedigrees are super official. Radio 1 doesn't fuck around when doing these, so whether you're a longtime fan or someone who's hearing their new bits but don't know the history, this is one to check out for. I threw a feature up on DOA yesterday, and now have clips (which you can check after the jump). My boy Sacha from Dogs On Acid is even featured on the first clip. Nice one!

DOA Interview: MC DRS

I'm really happy with how my interview with MC DRS came out, content-wise. I love hearing from an MC's perspective about the DnB scene. His album, I don't usually like MCs but..., is set to drop in August on Soul:R, and he spoke with me about the project, the single (which dropped this week) and many other points of interest. Dude's down to earth and real about his, and I respect the fuck out of that. Check it out.

[video] Rude Kid ft. Skepta "Get Busy"

New video for their single, which drops on the 29th of July. I also put up a new feature with Rude Kid on DOA, talking about this single specifically. He even dropped a dope mix. I don't "get busy", I've been busy.

Dubmonger "20 Paces Dub"

"Dub" is more than just the cool word in the title of this blog. I really truly fucks with this music. Drum & Bass producer Morphy does as well, so much so that he has an AKA, Dubmonger, where he crafts tracks in a classic dub mentality, preferably heard on his Experiments In Dub release. I got an interview with him for DOA where we speak on all of this, and he gave DOA the exclusive on this tune "20 Paces Dub" as a free download. It's limited, so grab it EARLY!

DOA: 06.2012 (mixed by Disc Jockey Nappy)

While DJ Nappy is my boy and has been for the better part of 13 years or so, I can't help but continuously be proud and excited when he sends me fire mixes. This is the halfway mark of his 2012 monthly DnB mixes for Dogs On Acid, and either the releases in June perfectly captured what this Summer should sound like, or he has the Summer dancefloor vibes on his mind when he went through the DOA promos we got this month. Featured bits from Gridlok, RUN DMT, LSB, Culture Shock, Mutated Forms, Optiv & BTK, 2DB and plenty more. That cut "Haywire" is the one, trust me! Full details HERE, including full download of the set and details on what Nappy's been up to in June. This might be the one for your Fourth of July party, believe me!

DOA Interview: Concord Dawn

Concord Dawn is one of those DnB outfits that's quality all around, regardless of what the actual vibe of the track is. Some of my fondest DnB memories were rinsing new Concord Dawn tracks to myself, and in the company of friends. Seriously. I was kind of surprised to hear that he was dropping Air Chrysalis for free on June 25th, but I got a lil advanced copy and there was nothing left out - these tracks are just as quality, and a true testament to the 15 years CD has spent making quality DnB. I like how my interview with Matt came out; check it out and let me know what you think!

DOA Mix: GENR8

Funny how things go. I remember trying to get DOA to put out some more releases on their imprint. I ultimately failed (and those dealings made me want to start RTDLTD, which isn't done), but one of the first guys I checked and got tunes from was GENR8. He's an American producer who flips some SICK Drum & Bass, but I had slept on the fact that he had some dubstep out there! He dropped an EP, Now Is The Future, on his Genr8ion imprint recently, and I got a chance to pick his brain about his current exploits. He also came correct with a dynamic mix to kick your weekend off properly.

DOA: 05.2012 (mixed by Disc Jockey Nappy)

Nappy asked for this one to drop around the holiday. While I don't believe the UK celebrates Memorial Day, Drum & Bass is a worldwide ting, so it just made sense. He drops some serious bits in this on-going DOA monthly saga. The May Mix features tracks I've been telling you guys about, like Dub Phizix's "Never Been", Calyx & TeeBee's "Scavenger" and "The Limit VIP" by Fracture - as well as a shitload more. Full tracklist and download over on Dogs On Acid; if you missed the previous four mixes, you check them in that feature as well. Bong.

Win A Copy of Fabriclive63

Today marks the UK release of Fabriclive.63, which was mixed by Shy FX, B.Traits and Breakage, aka the Digital Soundboy Soundsystem (US release is June 19th).You might have seen me going ham about this mix last week on twitter. Couldn't help it - it's such a diverse statement on the Bass Music scene, and I'm just a huge fan of DSB. I just threw up a competition to win a copy of this mix CD on DOA, check it out. Word is Shy, B.Traits AND Breakage have albums on the way. Keep it locked!

DOA: 04.2012 (mixed by Disc Jockey Nappy)

Looks like Nappy's outdone himself. I love these mixes - Nappy's into so many different styles, it's fun to hear what he picks up from genres that he's not constantly listening to. For the April edition of the DOA 2012 mix series, Nappy selected new and unreleased bits from Noisia & Phace, Vicious Circle & Need For Mirrors, Crissy Criss, DC Breaks, Prolix, Gridlok, Jubei, Aesthetics and plenty more. Great selection, going from the more chilled/deep side into some tech into some lovely bits. Just great all-around, and a nice selection of the shit that's really moving the scene.

K-AZE: Sampler 1

I'm not sure if you guys fuck with DnB like I do, or remember guys like Lemon D, who are truly one of the architects of the modern sound (alongside his Valve Music bredren Dillinja). He took a few years off to go into an entirely different direction, which resulted in him shedding his "Lemon D" moniker for a new name, K-AZE (which derives from the initials of his government name). He uploaded a 30 minute sampler of tracks that he has on the horizon, and he dips into everything from dubstep and R&B to that Flying Lotus/DIBIA$E lane (truth be told, the entire Valve sound is moving into multiple directions, with House, dubstep and more genres getting released). And the shit's definitely dope - I'm vibing to this right now! Check out more details via DOA, and keep it locked for more from K-AZE.

DOA: 02.2012 (mixed by Disc Jockey Nappy)

If you guys slept on Nappy's January 2012 DnB mix for DOA, you fucked up. His mix for February includes a grip of fresh bits from the likes of TC, Tyke, Spinline and Apex, with a crapload of remix pressure. It's a serious mix - I had this jammin' at work the other day. You need to make this a part of your life. Grab it via Dogs On Acid.

DOA: 01.2012 (mixed by Disc Jockey Nappy)

Here's the start of what should be a DnB mix a month from the homey Nappy. I handed him the promos that I got in my DOA mail and asked him to sort out a special mix; here's his drop for January. Featured artists include dBridge, NCQL, Mind Vortex, Friction, Majistrate and plenty more. Enjoy this one!

Adam F vs. Sonic C "In The Air"

I let this one marinate over on DOA. My Monday was jam packed, and sorting out the first of two Adam F posts for Dogs On Acid was part of my night. I interviewed him briefly about "In The Air", a 128BPM jam that's been getting into many-a DJ's set, for good reason. Some infectious funk for you, with a hype, quick beat accented by a twisted bassline. Dude's got a deal with Universal right now, so expect more from him in coming months (including a video for "When The Rain Is Gone", which is his next single), but for now, check my feature on DOA, where you can grab the mastered 320.

Interview With MTV's OMA Blog

If you know me, you know I try to get a lot done online. One of my gigs is Content Editor over at Dogs On Acid, which I've been a member of since 2001. The site actually celebrated it's 10th year of existence, and got nominated for Best Music Forum for MTV's second O Music Awards (you can vote now)! I think it'd be ill if DOA won something like this, while celebrating its 10th year of being one of the go-to spots for EDM heads online, worldwide. Out of the blue, I got hit up to be interviewed for the MTV OMA Blog, in a piece where they wanted to know what it took to run a forum like DOA. You can check that out HERE, and read me jabber on about the different things I get into, how DOA came to fruition and some of the things that make the site unique... and continue to last. They never asked, and took "khal ripkin" from the name I have on my twitter page, which makes me chuckle and is NOT something I want to change (although now I really do need a Baltimore Orioles 59Fifty - size 7 1/2). In any case, please check out the interview (nice, random birthday gift), and if you can, swing some votes our way. We're up against Rap God Fathers and a site called Banjo Hangout. Shouts to @nettap. Thanks!
