ForteBowie "Sephora's Song" (prod. by ForteBowie): The nigga I just got introduced to as Daddy Nino has abandoned that name, and is now going by a moniker he had been using, ForteBowie. I’m kind of mad – I loved how this track started. I’m a fan of cats using one particular sound and really showing how you can make a riddim off of it through repetition. I was NOT upset at realizing that Bowie could actually sing! On this, he tries to win over Sephora with a pretty sweet song for her. Almost feel like I shouldn’t be listening to this. Feels too real. Maybe that’s why this won’t be found on Something About #Bowie, which drops on the 1st of June. I can only hope he flips both sides of his musical talents.

Jhene Aiko ft. Daddy Nino "Stranger"

Jhene Aiko ft. Daddy Nino "Stranger": I think the majority of the tracks Nino has sent have been solo dips, so I appreciate him dipping into his catalog and showing his diversity. He’s prepping Something About #Bowie (which drops June 1st), and I’m not up on Jhene Aiko – so thanks, nigga, for putting me onto this jawn from her Sailing Souls project. Beat on this one is kind of crazy, has a different vibe entirely from what I’ve normally been fucking with the last few days. Shit’s fly, but it’s in a different lane, slowed a bit, nothing too crazy – just hypnotic sounds that coax you in and let you sit next to Bowie’s bars. Fly shit.

Daddy Nino "Players": Bowie flips one of my favorite Dilla instrumentals to kick some more story-driven raps. Flipping the “playaaaaaaaaa” in the beat, Nino concocts a story about those females who are stacked in the donk, the chest and the brain, and their realization of guys sniffin’ pussy blocks away allows them to kick proper game and run niggas for whatever they can get. With so many niggas claiming to be players, I always laughed when realizing how much them niggas were the ho’s and getting played. Not mad at anyone who can get their hustle on.

Daddy Nino "Fuck Tha Police Freestyle": Damn skraight. Well, I don’t mind the popo – the ones who are doing the right thing and upholding the law. It’s the jakes who abuse and misuse their authority for their own gain, or to put another nigga down, those are the ones who need to be fucked the fuck up. Anyways, ATL’s own Nino follows up an awesome mixtape to weave a bad jake tale over some classic Lord Finesse. Dude must work a lot – he already has Something About Bowie, his next mixtape, penciled in for May. Keep on, fam.

Daddy Nino ÜberEargasms: The Life & Times of David Ruffin Jr.

Daddy Nino FTW. When I was introduced to "Aisling Sistrunk" recently, I got it. Had it on play waiting for my bus this morning. Dude takes a singular feeling and has the ability to construct so many complete thoughts about it. Sounds stupid, but listen to that track and then try to remember you’re not sitting next to dude in his living room, crushing on Alfie’s sister. On ÜberEargasms, dude not only has some sly lyrics, but some dope flips of shit you know. Just fun, and versatile. There are tracks that are a bit softer or more sexual thrown aside jams that you’ll bump with your homies or shit to just party to. And lots of rhymes about females, whether it’s asking to smash after class or cheating on his girl. Maybe the ÜberEargasms is a pun – sonic excellence wrapped up in tracks you can smash to. Or maybe I just jumped the shark. In any case, enjoy this, and wait for Something About #Bowie, which is due out in April or May.

Daddy Nino "Aisling Sistrunk"

Daddy Nino "Aisling Sistrunk" (prod. by TheLegion): I am NOT mad at this at all. Actually, I was thinking about My Brother & Me due to MTV2 showing reruns of Martin, and seeing the Christmas episode where the waterhead boy was on. My Brother & Me wasn't the best show, but being a kid looking for more Black shows on Nickelodeon, that was about all we had. I definitely had a lil' crush on Melanie, and in doing a bit of research, had no idea that Amanda Diva was the lil' shorty on there, too. Anyways, tributes like this are always the kind of shit I need in my life, and makes me want to hear Nino's UberEargasms: The Life & Times of David Ruffin Jr., which is said to be dropping in four days.
