El Carnicero and Don Cotti Link Up to Bring You The "Sound of the Future"

Image via Boom One Records / Art by Levi Villines

With so much lip service being paid to the idea of dancehall and reggae permeating popular culture once again, it's dope to see some heads I love really showing mans how it's done. El Carnicero, who you should know from his work with the Seclusiais / Slit Jockey camps, has linked up with Don Cotti, a UK vocalist that's worked with everyone from Skream to Skepta, to give you the "Sound of the Future."

This cut, which is part dancehall, part reggae, all bass, is something to wind your waist to while preparing for WAR. But that's far from everything; Boom One Records called on both Skyshaker and Lemi Vice & Cool Hand Lex to put their own spin on this futuristic sound. You can stream the lead single below, then head over to Bandcamp to stream (and cop) the remixes. Then put the needle on the record and go ham!

Dev79 and the good folks at Seclusiasis have pre-orders for Street Bass Anthems Vol. 5 going right now, and they have a dope product on hand. Not only is this the release that houses Elucid & Nappy's "You Ain't Even Know", there's also dope material from Dev, Starkey, El Carnicero, DNAEBEATS, Bass Science, Rx & Shiftee, Knight Riderz, MANIKAN and more! Adele "Rolling In The Deep (El Carnicero Drum&Space Remix)"

Adele "Rolling In The Deep (El Carnicero Drum&Space Remix)": Adele is one of those singers that I get into by a superior remix. Meaning, I might not want to regularly fuck with their singles, but some producer will twist their vocals in a remix that I’ll absolutely love, and I become a random fan. I know DJ Nappy fucks with her, and this refix from The Butcher is fly enough to make me check for her. Her vocals are solid, and while they are obviously more suited for whatever Soulful compositions she normally makes, hearing those chops bounce over this future freakfest of a beat? Yeah, this fits.

YetiOne & El Carnicero "Lights, Camera, Tragedy"

YetiOne & El Carnicero "Lights, Camera, Tragedy": One half of Capricorn. One, El Carn The Butcher hit me with this uptempo party jam in the vein of “The Message”, where cats take to the dancefloor to speak about life’s ills and injustice. Kind of paranoid packed with loads of dexterity in the flows leads to this interesting cut that got unleashed today, I believe. Not even word on what in the fuck is gwarnin’ with these two pon the near future, which you really shouldn’t be focused on anyways. Crack a brew and two step with the girlie across the room; break down his lyrics over a cup of coffee at her crib. In there like swimwear, bitch.

Grey Granite & Oreo Jones "Turn It On"

Grey Granite & Oreo Jones "Turn It On" (prod. by El Carnicero): Big up on the "Crossfire" sample in the beginning. This is a pure dancefloor flavor, and I fucks with it. Pixelated Lazer Face Bass Monster is due out this summer, and this might be that monstrosity's theme song!

Numan "SkullCrusher (CapricornOne Remix)"

Numan "SkullCrusher (CapricornOne Remix)": For those who are unaware, CapricornOne = Elucid and producer El Carnicero. You might remember Gutta performing this at the Yule Prog festival last December, and from the tracks of theirs I've been hearing, they are onto something. Truly taking the Hip-Hop/Dubstep/Bass-driven hybrid sound to that next level. Their remix of Numan's "SkullCrusher" is available on Slit Jockey right now alongside remixes from Bombaman and M80 Dubstation. For those of us who already knew of the Lessondary Overlord, this is like a dream finally realized - and something I've been wanting for this sound for years. Keep your ears to the underground, as more CapOne material is on the horizon.

I'm also hearing that CapOne will be performing with the Seclusiasis crew on June 17th in Philly. CapOne is also booking dates from June 13th to June 19th - hit them at capricornonemusic@gmail.com or via twitter for details. Boom!
