Lyle Horowitz - Psychotic Breaks

Lyle Horowitz took it back to the samples and breakbeats for his latest LP, and brought some friends along:

"Psychotic Breaks is not a reference to any sort of mental health issue or manic episode. I feel compelled to mention that because people are worried about me. I'm okay. Actually, I'm a little better than okay. Psychotic Breaks means something different within the context of this album. Psychotic is a reference to the style of sample chopping I'm doing throughout this album. Breaks is a reference to break-beats, the foundation of every beat I made during these sessions. Together, you have manic and sometimes discordant samples paired with some vintage break-beats. The record features appearances from Uncommon Nasa, Curly Castro, Pizza Boy, Blahzé Misfits, Virginia Slim, Melvin Burch, Andrew Frisby & DJ Mark Gayeski."

Lyle Horowitz - One Night Only

From Lyle: "One Night Only is a collection of instrumentals that I recorded live by chopping samples in Virtual DJ and triggering them via AKAI MPK. Although the majority of my beats were produced in Logic, FL Studio & Pro Tools, I've developed a new-found appreciation for hardware and the human element of creating music.

I will be performing live at Matchless in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on November 28th @ 9PM recording an entire instrumental album live on stage (plus, no admission fee) -- consider One Night Only a precursor to that show. Enjoy..."

Lyle Horowitz - The Haunted Tour

The Haunted Tour is inspired by an annual event of the same name where I try to visit as many haunted attractions as I can, wherever I am, leading up to Halloween. This year, the tour has been gaining prominence, including a mention in USA Today's Pop Candy column.

Presented by RockTheDub.com, The Haunted Tour features samples from horror films, old-time radio, haunted attractions & EVP recordings and was produced and arranged entirely during the month of October 2012.

DISCLAIMER: EVP Recordings can be considered "doorways" from our world to another. These doorways are thought to provide access for entities to enter our world. They may be the spirits of people who have lived before, or they could be something else altogether. Some researchers even believe that they could be otherworldly beings from another dimension.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS ALBUM OR LISTEN TO TRACK #10 ("The Spirit World") IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT OPENING UP ANY SO-CALLED "DOORWAYS" FOR SPIRITS TO ENTER. ADDITIONALLY, IF YOU ARE PREGNANT OR HAVE ANY HEART CONDITIONS, IT IS ADVISED YOU DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS ALBUM

Lyle Horowitz - A Good Clean Fight

A Good Clean Fight symbolizes a lot, all at once.

Stories about the fight to stay in a relationship, stay sober and stay focused are weaved in with songs that take the more literal implication of the album title to create a body of work that's as personal as it is conceptual.

Lyle Horowitz - Redamancy

While I wait for a grip of tracks that Lyle Horowitz keeps BBMing me about, he drops this nine-track LP, featuring his Woodside Boy-bredren PreZZure, Rapper Big Pooh, Deniro Farrar, Loud Pack Lucy and Lewis. In his words: I started Redamancy on Valentine's Day 2011 during a bus ride back to New York from North Hampton, Massachusetts. I plugged my laptop into the power outlet and created the first draft of "B-43", which is now the album closer. A big part of why this project means so much to me is because of the circumstances that led to me creating it and what I learned about myself and others after those circumstances occurred. Although the impetus for this album was a break-up, this is not a break-up album, at least not entirely -- Redamancy explores love and heartbreak from all sides and the effects it has on those that go through it. This is a truly personal body of work and I hope that you enjoy it.

Lyle Horowitz "Blue Lights" (Digital 12'')

New single from Lyle Horowitz ft. Loud Pack Lucy on the vocals. Her name rocks. This track rocks even harder. Love what Lyle did to the drums on this one. Interesting early morning cut right here, with a MidPoint remix on the flipside.

Yule Prog (12/08/2011)

The fifth annual Yule Prog progressive Hip-Hop festival goes down this Thursday (December 8th) at Southpaw in Brooklyn, NY. These shows always feel like a RTD reunion, but this year it's even iller: You've got Meyhem Lauren, Billy Woods, junclassic, Willie Green, Elucid x AM breakups, Lyle Horowitz (who will have Elucid, Fresh Daily AND PreZZure with him), Adam Warlock, Open Mike Eagle and plenty more on the bill. I'm gonna figure out how to get involved at some point. Don't miss this one. Pre-order your tickets today, and get two free CDs when you enter the venue. No bullshit.

Five Albums From Lyle Horowitz

When we last saw Lyle Horowitz, he was wrecking shop with PreZZure as the Woodside Boys. During that time, he was also putting the finishing touches on five different albums... which he dropped earlier today. I've heard bits of many of these, and he definitely runs the gamut. Some Hip-Hop, but a lot of quirk/weird shit. Loves it. Hit the jump for the full monty.

rockthedub.com presents The Woodside Boys

One thing about me, I love seeing cats collaborate. Nothing gets me hyper than talented individuals combining their creative efforts and making something new, refreshing and exciting. I'm not sure how many months ago it was - I wanna say it was this past Spring; I was having a conversation with Lyle Horowitz, and he was talking about some of the tracks he's done with PreZZure, and I said something to the effect of "you guys should knock out an album and have rockthedub drop it on Halloween". That must have sounded good to them, because I started getting rumblings of them really churning out some ill shit - even dubbing themselves The Woodside Boys. I'm not sure what a Woodside Boy is, but I know these two cats locked horns and created a pure beast. PreZZ goes ham on this one - he really taps into the darker, more sinister side of his psyche, with tracks like "Ghost" (my personal favorite) and "Possessed" really blur the lines of crazy MC and crazy MC who might fucking kill you. You've already heard "I'm The Best", where they flipped what is arguably the best promo on WWE programming of the last few years into an anthem for slept-on MCs. 10 tracks of terror, from two cats who should be highly sought after. Trick or treat... Woodside or die.

The Woodside Boys "Clappin'"

LinkLove this shit at times. Lyle will randomly hit me like "can't WAIT to send you this track PreZZure annihilated", and I'll be like "hmmm". Then he'll say he flipped the same track RZA flipped for "Liquid Swords", but a different section, THEN say PreZZ gets his Kendrick Lamar on. And I'm like - I NEED THIS NOW! Hour or so later? Fucking megaton bomb in the form of a laidback organ x PreZZ' signature blend of comic relief and biting reality. One of my favorite tracks from him, hands down. The Woodside Boys project is still set to drop on RTD on Halloween, and this is on it. As is "I'm The Best". You're scared now, ain'tcha?!?!

Lyle Horowitz - Let Them Eat Cake

Of course the boy Lyle Horowitz drops an instrumental album around 10:30 on a Sunday night that's inspired by "the last 20 years of 18th Century France as well as the uncertain economic and political landscape of the present times". Features from the likes of Adam Warlock and the boy PreZZure; remember, we'll be presenting Lyle x PreZZure's The Woodside Boys project on Halloween. Until then, love these beats and those rhymes. Viva la revolution!
