Phonte on Juan Epstein

Newest latest from Ciph and Rosenberg: "This episode has a lot. Ciph tells a great story about flying on Dave Chappelle’s plane a couple of weeks ago. Then we call my wife to convince her that buying a new place is a good idea. Then Phonte stops by to talk about his new work, breaking up with Little Brother, and tells a great Kanye story."

A-Trak Breaks Down His DJ History on Juan Epstein

I'm not sure WHY, but this weekend I got deep into some Invisibl Skratch Piklz shit. Nothing truly prompted it, but I just had to relive some of those turntablism days. Of course it's after that that I heard that Q-Bert, D-Styles, and Shortkut linked back up to create the first ISP album in 20 years. Damn.

ANYWAYS, this made me dip back into A-Trak's appearance on Juan Epstein from a few weeks back. He goes ham on the history, letting you know how he got into shit, his favorite albums, how much he was making off of DJ records, and so much more. After you peep the podcast, check out the championship-winning set they played during this podcast after the jump.

Consequence Talks the History of A Tribe Called Quest on Juan Epstein

"Quence is doing the rounds promoting some new dope music so we decided to make this visit different and make it completely about his time with Tribe. The story starts with Q-Tip just being cousin Jon in Queens and goes all the way to the story of the fallout between Tip and Phife. Rap nerds rejoice!"

Remembering Sean Price

I love seeing the hip-hop community coming out to show love for Sean Price, who is gone WAY too soon. Since news of his death was announced on Saturday, my Twitter timeline has been riddled with tributes and words of appreciation for the god MC. As you can see up above, Meres One painted a sick mural of Price in Brooklyn.

For anyone looking to help out Price's widow and children, Duck Down is looking to raise $50,000 for Price's family (the Crowd Rise goal is halfway there).

Combat Jack not only penned some beautiful words about P! for Complex, but also touched down during Peter Rosenberg's Sean Price tribute on Real Late, which you can hear below.

Hell, P! even made NPR.

I'll be keeping this updated with dope tributes and other bits about Price's life if y'all are down.

Uncle Ralph McDaniels and Sacha Jenkins on Juan Epstein

This is important: "Sacha Jenkins just directed a new film called "Fresh Dressed" about the history of hip hop fashion. He also happens to be man behind Beatdown, Egotrip, and now Mass Appeal. He brought Uncle Ralph who has stories upon stories from his years in the game as the man behind Video Music Box. This episode is one of my favorites in a minute. We're back! Everyone chill!"

Ciph and Rosenberg spent 70 minutes answering questions from their Patreon supporters. Feels like a good ol' classic Juan Ep.

Kid Capri on Juan Epstein

Kid Capri was always one of my favorite DJs, and it's dope that Ciph and Rosenberg's latest is with the don.

Man oh man. Nearly two hours with the greatest party DJ of all time. This goes so deep and so nerdy and so much DJ talk and so much behind the scenes. This is what happens when you have two lifelong DJs interview one of the best DJs on Earth. We also talk about Ciph and my recent solo adventures and spend a few minutes on the Chinx tragedy.

Juan Epstein on Biggie (3/11/2015)

I believe this was recorded on March 9, and is a few days after the anniversary of Biggie's death, but it's so necessary: "If you want an official, perfectly organized, and professional Biggie retrospective — go somewhere else. If you want to hear great stories and factoids from Ciph, opinions and memories from me, and a great call from Lord Finesse — listen to this!!"

Fat Jew on Juan Epstein

Thursdays are always heavy for me when it comes to podcasts: the usual includes The Brilliant Idiots, The Read, and Steve Austin (unleashed); today we add the ledge Fat Jew on Juan Epstein to the list: "Rapper, instagram star, beef jerky model, handsome devil. He is all of these things. He has also been my bud for several years. Meet the Fat Jew. He tells us how it all happened, what celebs follow him, which celeb he may have sex with soon, and an amazing Kanye West story. Good morning!"

Salaam Remi on Juan Epstein

From The Fugees to Nas, Salaam Remi has produced some of my favorite tracks of all time. Dope to see Ciph and Rosenberg sitting down with the legend. "We’re back for the 2015 and ish is about to go to another level. Let’s start off with one of the greatest producers ever! You knew this guy was great, but you didn’t know how great his story is and just how many hits he’s made. Kick back and enjoy the first Juan Ep of 2015!"
