Young M.A. and De La Soul Get Remixed by Nappy DJ Needles and Benja Styles

I love when DJs have similar DJs, but instead of hitting you with the same flex, they take different paths. Let me explain. We all know that Young M.A.'s "OOOUUU" is one of the biggest records of the year. Homegirl merked her "Chiraq" freestyle, but this record took over radio and had the streets BUZZING! Something about the simpler flow and that infectious "OOOUUU" in the track turned this one into a winner.

In going over my inbox (Ed Note: send new music to rockthedub@gmail.com), I noticed that I had new remixes of this record from Nappy DJ Needles and Benja Styles, who both had the same idea. Why not reconstruct Young M.A.'s 2016 smash with De La Soul's circa-2000 classic "Oooh?" The results? Amazing.

Benja Styles Presents Beyond The Remix

One of the first DJs I've seen getting steam purely off his remix game was the homey Benja Styles. It just makes sense that he compiles his work into this project, which is hosted by DJ Felli Fel,Clinton Sparks & DJ NoPhrillz. Benja likes to make his remixes anthemic, bringing in dope MCs that he knows (like Freeway, Tek, Young Chris, Reef the Lost Cauze, Jakk Frost, Rich Quick, E Ness and Chill Moody and many more), and you can chart his progress here, remixing hits and getting airplay both locally and internationally. Dope shit to rock to.

Side-B Radio (4/01/2012)

Great episode of Side-B Radio here. Not only did Rich Quick (alongside Benja Styles) stop by for an interview in relation to I'm With The DJ's release, but we got the introduction of the "Side Beatz" segment, where producers have their beats played live on the show (DJ Ment Plus had some BANGERS). J. Gainey also runs down this past Saturday's Garden Variety show, which was awesome. Loads of great Hip-Hop on this as well. You already know. Shouts to Phil and Divine Drummah. I'll be posting Episode 2 of Side-B TV a little later on today, too. Them brothers are putting in WORK!
