Drake and Meek Mill Celebrated the End of Their Beef With a Game of Ping Pong

For the last three years, Drake and Meek Mill haven't fucked with each other. I want to say it started when Drake didn't tweet something about a song he did with Meek, but I don't know. I just remember Meek calling Drake out for not writing his verses (which, who was actually surprised, then or now?), and then Drake overcoming the odds by handing Meek his own ass. Twice. Meek took forever to respond, and when he did, the shit was trash, and he got turned into all of the memes.

While the beef peaked during that OVO Powerpoint Fest of Meek memes, there have been stray shots and trolls since, but it felt like their situation was a) dead and b) a warning for anyone trying to beef with somebody in the Internet Age. For example, the clock is on Eminem to respond to MGK during whatever this thing is they are engaging in currently.

While no one was thinking of whatever this Meek/Drake beef has turned into (especially since Pusha T made Drake a fool in their situation), Drake decided to bring Meek out during his Boston show last night, effectively deading their beef. Drake had Meek perform, but also spoke on the situation: “This right here is a long time coming. This right here is important. This one of my favorite rappers, for real for real."

So, their beef is over. If you don't believe that show of solidarity, don't worry: someone had their phone ready to record this epic $20,000 ping pong game between Meek and Drake. "This is how we will teach kids to settle their differences" one caption read.

Hey, if you like it, I love it, but wasn't ping pong called "honkey ball" in South Central? Do kids in the hood play ping pong like that? And what if they get into a heated $20 ping pong battle and the beef isn't squashed? Do they go to the basketball court NBA 2K19? When are jokers allowed to take it to the streets ala Rocky and Tommy Gunn? That's how Philly bols do it, right Meek?

Fair play either way; just don't throw up no brick when the inevitable collab drops.

DJ Cable Turned 'More Life' Into a Proper Mixtape

Off the rip, Drake made sure that people knew his new release More Life wasn't called an "album." Most people thought that meant it was a mixtape, while he was calling it a "playlist." It has a mixtape feel, but isn't mixed, so our UK bredren DJ Cable decided to actually mix it, turning More Life into More Mixed. Smart.

And truth be told, this is what we need until OG Ron C and The Chopstars release More Chops, their chopped not slopped take on More Life. Until then, you can stream Cable's More Mixed down below, and snag a download of it while you're at it.

WizKid ft. Drake & Skepta - "Ojuelegba (Remix)"

Previously debuted on the first episode of OVO SOUND RADIO on Beats 1, this new take on WizKid's "Ojuelegba" gets certified co-signs from Drake and Skepta, and is one of the best cuts that hit my ears this summer. Throw this shit on repeat and keep it running.

Drake - "Know Yourself (Roska Edit)"

We're a couple of weeks removed since Roska dropped his "King Kunta" edit, so it was time for him to run through the 6 with his woes on this bouncy take on "Know Yourself." I didn't think I'd dig it, and I imagine some of you won't, but I fucked with it. Sue me.

Drake - "Legend (Cheeky Charmander Remix)"

My favorite track from Drake's latest gets a fire club rework from one of my favorite Pokemon-inspired producers, Cheeky Charmander. This is taken from a two-track remix EP of cuts from that Drake project. I've not been impressed by much of the refixes—too many people doing "Energy" remixes for some reason—but I get behind this shit.

Drake ft. Nicki Minaj "Make Me Proud"

Not posting this because it's a dope song - it isn't. Not even going to sit here and grandstand about any of the current discussions on the Hip-Hop/dubstep genre-bending that seems to be primed to fuck radio in the ras. All I'm gonna say is - when this chapter in history is written, you might not even mention me. Mention DJ Nappy, and mention THUGSTEP. That'll do.

The Weeknd ft. Drake "The Zone (Ty Cody Remix)"

I'm still not the biggest fan of The Weeknd, but I fucks with what Ty Cody did to this track on the dubstep tip. It amazes me how much space The Weeknd leaves in his tracks - it makes it easy for some of the Bass music scene's refixers to drop something genre-specific and still keep the original in tact. This is some main room sub damage right here. Even Drake gets a lil bit towards the end. Rock that. Shouts to Barrelhouse BKLYN.

Gerald Walker "Ran That Scam (Demo)"

Gerald Walker "Ran That Scam (Demo)": I’m kind of waiting for Gerald Walker to make a larger splash. Dude’s got crazy work ethic – hell, he dropped a few notable mixtapes in 2010, and is already working on an EP with Cardo of Taylor Gang. In between his hectic schedule, he demos a cut about smutting out chicks. It kind of reminds me of how Drake does things – some sly filth on the rhymes, with some crooning on the hook. He’s no Drake clone, but with the sparse beat and that subject matter, I hope he wasn’t waving his hands all around while recording his rhymes with an interesting twist.

Drake "Light Up (Rikers Remix)"

Drake ft. Jay-Z & Lil' Wayne "Light Up (Rikers Remix)": One of my favorites off of Thank Me Later (which is out today, but you should've known that), I had this playing on the way into work today. There'd been talk of Weezy having bars for this (I think he was supposed to be on this, too?), and it looks like he spit a 32 via telephone and it was affixed to the track. I still say Hov did the best out of all three - very sick verse from him, teacher to student status.
