After featuring him throughout the Dream Season EP, J. Gunn is embarking on his promo for his forthcoing Faithful Struggle mixtape, which is being presented by DuBose Music Group. Word is that MC Lyte has been supervising all projects from DMG behind the scenes for the last three years. Gunna is one of the four artists she is putting her stamp on, so loads of props to him for that. For this debut single from that project, they do the damn thing. Has a great, thumping Soul feel, but that doesn't mean J slacks on his darts - he keeps it just as potent. Take heed.

The Jake ft. J.Gunn, Daniel Joseph & Edge "The Hit & Run"

I hope you guys picked up Dream Season. I know I appreciate it, and The Jake is appreciative of all of the love that the EP has gotten. This cut right here? This was actually going to drop the week the EP dropped, but delays caused both the EP and this track not to drop when they should've. Never fear, we've got some freeness from The Jake, who brings a slick instrumental on this one. Love the fact that most cats would probably bring in some of those harder snares on this, but Jake plays it Soulful and brings the thumping kick but has a number of different percussive elements in it. Three top shottas touch the track, as frequent collaborator J.Gunn, RTD-fam Daniel Joseph and the one like Edge each go for theirs over this one, taking the "dream season" idea and really bringing their own spin to the proceedings. Again, be sure to grab Dream Season if you haven't already, as it's a project I'm feeling so strongly about. And be sure to look out for The Accomplices! Shouts to sites like When Giants Meet, This Is Book's Music, Flawless Hustle and everyone else who has helped spread the word.

Introducing The Accomplices

During our conversation prior to the release of Dream Season, The Jake mentioned his latest project, The Accomplices, which is Jake and BroadNMarket on the beats. From what I understand, they have Got Away: The EP set to drop early September, with MCs like Daniel Joseph, Tom Chase, DeuceZ, J. Gunn, MaG, Trek Life and more featured. I got hit with the cut "The Getaway" with MaG, and you cats need to hear it. It's exactly what you know you needed from the game, but slept on for whatever reason. Don't let this shit get away from you. Hopefully we'll get some more jawns like this?

The Jake Dream Season: Available Now!

After some hook-ups, I am finally able to officially announce that The Jake's Dream Season EP is available now on iTunes. Seven tracks, bringing that Soulful Hip-Hop vibe alive, with features from J. Gunn, TWICE, Keisha Shontelle, Rhymageddon, Lazarus and more. This should be siphoning into a number of other digital download stores - I'll update this post if/when I see those links going live. [RTD Interview]: The Jake

Funkmaster Flex told cats to not drop any material around the time Watch The Throne drops, but the release date for The Jake's Dream Season EP on RTD Records has been solid for like six weeks. Anyways, we've been in promo mode for Dream Season over the last four weeks, and I figured it made sense to let you guys know a little behind one of the underground's finest producers. He's thick into the Soul of the music, and it shows. Putting in work over the last four years, New Hampshire's The Jake is one of my current favorites in terms of tracks. He has those vibin' tracks, and knows how to pick talented MCs to take those beats to the next level. The EP is fresh, now get to know the brains behind it...

Dream Season Preview, Week 1

On the 9th of August, the next release for RTD Records comes from New Hampshire's own The Jake. He's a producer that has actually been on RTD Records before - you might remember hearing his beats on Deal - The Villain's EPic, and I gotta say - I've been WAITING for this project to drop. It's gone through a number of different machinations, and has become Dream Season. Dude's versatility on the beats is amazing - he has the Soulful vibes, but can go ahead and flip something a bit tougher, more rugged. For the next four weeks, we'll be dropping all kinds of promo for this one, and the first is the last track on the EP, "The Flyness", which not only features the one and only J.Gunn (who gets a LOT of burn on this EP, and is someone I hope does a full project with Jake), but also has bars from Jersey's own Rhymageddon!

J.Gunn "Side Jawn" (prod. by The Jake): This cut landed in my inbox during the Father’s Day weekend, and isn’t a situation I get involved in at all. I gotta say, though, The Jake’s Dream Season EP, which RTD Records is looking to lace you with in the near future, and J.Gunn has a few sick tracks on that project. Definitely feel like Gunn and Jake need to do an entire EP and/or LP project together, just fit perfect together. Anyways, this is one of those tracks that can put fear into a nigga’s life, especially when it comes to bringing babies and shit into your life. Don’t even worry about it, forreal. Just work on putting the proper smashgame down on your earth. What’d Chris Rock say? You have to recycle the pussy, turn the old pussy into new pussy. Do that. Be on the lookout for Gunn’s Earl Manigault LP.

This track does exactly what it says on the tin, and is a great way to pass the time during these storms that are blanketing the US. Or something to do when the electricity’s cut off.
