The ARE & Brokn.Englsh "This Way": I actually forgot that I got told that B.E and The ARE were going to be putting out a dope project; ever since I got put on to The ARE via Dem Damn Jacksons, I've been making sure to peep out his work, and you already know RTD are big supporters of the EA movement, so this project (TheAre & BE) is right up my alley. And it sounds just like it should - from those darting organs in the chorus to the sly bop during the hooks, this shit knocks and is a perfect Spring/Summer flex.Good BIZ Principle & Interest
Last Good BIZ track I hit you with was "Ya'll Can't Ball", off their Checks & Balances EP. That's been done for a bit, and during that time I'd be able to soak in their OTHER EP, Principle & Interest, which is produced entirely by The ARE, who has been putting in 'nuff work. Six tracks of neck-snappin' beats from ARE, as well as a gaggle of true school flavor on the mic. Features include YZ, Illmaculate, Cool Nutz, Al One, DJ Wicked & DJ DMP, and is highly recommended (tracks like "2 Steps Ahead" and "Just A Friend" have been on constant rotation). GDBZ Music is on a roll, and their debut album, Sound Investment, will be out in the Summer of 2010. In the mean time, grab this EP, or take it back wand cop the Funk Family and Blaque Spurm re-releases, which GDBZ and Ambidextrous Music made available last year. And for fans of The ARE who are down at SXSW, he will be at the Beat Society show on March 20th (I believe Good BIZ's Bobbie Fine will be down there, too).

On February 23rd, Good Biz has their Checks & Balances EP dropping digitally, and it's a problem. It features a few tracks that I introduced to you back in October, as well as a feature from YZ, X-Clan's Brother J, as well as the Underground King himself, Bun B; beats are provided by The ARE, Phil "Da Factoer" Blackmon and many more (including Bobbie Fine of GDBZ). That Portland/Jersey/Texas connection is a PROBLEM! This leads up to their Principle & Interest EP, which is produced by The ARE and is something serious. I got a chance to check it out last night, and as I told B. Fine, the collaborations that The ARE and GDBZ are coming up with sound so organic, it's insane. More info on all GDBZ movements when the time is right... hold tight.

Good Biz ft. Brother J "Nowhere" (prod. by The ARE): When I interviewed Bobbie Fine back in April, he spoke about his new group, Good Biz, who were working on their album. Quay Devon, KP and B. Fine connect live Voltron, and over this neck-snappin' crack from The ARE, and a fresh 16 from the X-Clan's own Brother J, this is one you can't miss.Bobbie just hit me back and let me know that anyone in the Portland area should hit up their show at the Adidas store downtown Portland on November 5th; they are also working on a mixtape to set up their Sound Investment album (which drops 1Q 2010) called The Bermuda Triangle that will be featuring talent from Houston, Portland and New Jersey, featuring artists from all three areas. I'll hit you with info on THAT when I get it. Until then, peep "Nowhere" and this bonus cut featuring the god YZ, which pays homage to The Originals (see how everything ties in together)!
