Vakill ft. Crooked I, Rhymefest, Juice & Nino Bless "Beast Ballad" (prod. by Panik): Shouts to the Molemen collective for giving this cut away for free. Whenever you see names like Crooked I and Nino Bless on a track that's entitled "Beast Ballad", you already know this is for the rugged Timberland set. Panik's beat on this one is tailor-made for mic rippin', and all five of these MCs don't waste a bar. I always feel bad for Nino Bless - he was part of the track that created Slaughterhouse, but has been kind of silent since their inception. This cut can be found on Vakill's Armor Of God, which dropped on the 5th of July. Get acquainted.

I know the homey Praverb was on the low, not picking up a pad or a pen to commit life to the page, but he had resurfaced with some ish on deck. Had no idea that this would turn into The Brainstormers, aka his collective alongside Cayoz, A.L. Laureate, DJ Grazzhoppa and O*Zee. This EP finds these cats really moving towards a similar goal, becoming a proper “group” as opposed to a bunch of niggas rapping together. Also had no idea they roped in heavy hitters like Crooked I, Skyzoo and Hell Razah to contribute, as well as beats from talented cats like Teddy Roxpin. Just a great introduction to a piece of the game that’s needed: unity. If you aren’t feeling the intro, “By All Means”, I don’t know what you’re about. Shouts to Dub MD for the heads up on this – saw a few alternate covers with Kevin Nottingham on them, but I’m not sure how they are affiliated. No bother, shit’s dope on it’s own!

Slaughterhouse ft. Dres "Back On The Scene" (prod. by M-Phazes): See, when Nicki Minaj hooked up “Roman’s Revenge”, you figured she would have gotten Busta Rhymes to feature on it, due to that “RUH RUH LIKE A DUNGEON DRAGON” shit. So, kudos to Slaughterhouse for getting Black Sheep’s Dres to mimic his shit from one of the Hip-Hop scene’s finest early 90s anthems. This beat is some fly shit, allowing these four to do what they do – massacre everything. They have a self-titled EP dropping in February, and since they recently revealed that they signed to Shady, I’m assuming that’s where it’s dropping? Who knows, I just need to hear more Ortiz. That Puerto Rock is a mufucking problem!

Quake ft. Royce da 5'9 & Kayo "I Stand Alone" (prod. by Tone Mason): Quake's The Myth drops on August 31st, and this is the third single... and damn, it's a problem. Nickel Nine opens it up and murders his verse, with Quake & Kayo holding their own so properly. Something to vibe out to - has that laidback feel to it, but don't sleep on the lyrics! Shouts to Ritchcraft for this one.
