Elucid Bear Trapz

It's always an honor and a privilege to be able to drop that new face-melting material from Elucid. Bear Trapz features three new cuts from the man, and could damn-well be seen as a demo tape or blueprint (no Jay-Z) for those of you who want to peer into the future of this thing of ours. We are creatures of multiple influences, and no other MC has the ability to retain his lyrical potency over beats that would create challenges for a cat who doesn't possess his verbal acumen. This is Bear Trapz.

Tracklist:

We Don't Care (Caspa Dub)
Yum Yum (N-Type Dub)
Trouble The Water (prod. by SuhBurb)

Now, let me step up to the podium and read a prepared statement, something special for this occasion...

Here at rock the dub, we wear our influences on our sleeves. We also champion the hybrid sounds, primarily within the Hip-Hop mindset. Anything that has to do with Elucid’s emergence as a voice bringing along true change is right up our alley, and that’s why we’ve spent as much time beating you niggas in the head with his music, showcasing the intergalactic tapestries that he paints pon a dubplate, daily.

Thing is, this isn’t anything new. For as many of you who are fluttering over
the Dubstep LA mixtape of underwhelming MCs over heavy sub bass, RTD has been on that for two years now, with DJ Nappy and his THUGSTEP movement. Funny how I can check out the dubstepforum.com right now, and the legions are delighted to hear crap renditions of “Eastern Jam” and “Mad House”, but wanted to slight Nappy for his tongue-in-cheek name for the refixes he completed years ago. Even funnier is how Elucid was the one who put me onto this mixtape in the first place.

Everything moves in cycles, and Bear Trapz is just another part of our cipher. The name can mean many things… here’s one thought: you’re caught. We hit you with a lot of tracks, and while there’s been a lot of love and praise, do we truly care if you’re digging this? No, we don’t care. You’re caught, been caught. Gutta the brown bear has you caught. Since we don’t care, we have no thoughts on what happens to our prey – we eat you niggas up, yum yum. Its your own fault, though – there's been trouble in the water that should’ve clued you into our intentions from jump street. Or is that dub street? No matter, you’re caught. We see you on display, on pseudo-intellectual blogs and forums, shining your wears and accolades for the world to see… when really, you’ve jumped upon the ship we built, and we did it better than you… with less.

The most amazing piece of poetry here is that, with Elucid’s verbal dexterity, and his pen, he’s laying his own foundation. While cats like Murs are dumbing down their darts for dubstep, Elucid is doing what the dubstepforum asked for years ago: progressing the idea of an MC over dubstep. This isn’t E-induced chanting and buffoonery, nor is it ritualistic d-boy diatribes – it’s the next level. So while dubstep has sunken a flag into Los Angeles and the same ol’ same ol’ is being spewed for the ignorant masses, and being fed as some new new, we already saw Lauren London’s baby, and it’s walking. We’re teaching that lil’ nigga how to walk right, speak clearly and stand tall. And you’re not even ready to understand the lessons.

You’re too caught up in our waste. Bear trapz, we got you. Melt your face. Take it in blood.
