No Need To Fahrenheit 451

This time last year, four branches of the Trenton Public Library were set to close due to budget woes. You'd think that in these days, where things like higher education (and education in general) should be bigger priorities, that shit like this wouldn't even be an issue.

Apparently, some things are more important than smart people.

In Philly, their Free Public Library is set to close all of its branches on October 2nd due to budget woes as well! Is this 1909? How can we NOT have funds for education and free knowledge in 2009?

Sadly, you probably don't think this affects you - you have a computer, you go to school no problem. Have you ever been to North Philly? Take a trip out to LaSalle University, and see how some of the surrounding community lives. Those kids need a library, not just to go research for a book report... they might now own a PC, and that's their only link to the evolving technologically advancing world we live in.

Or that's their refuge from the street life. Think on it.

I really don't get it. If this appauls you like it does me, you CAN do something about it: hit up this link and find out how to make your voice heard about what can be a damaging blow to the future of Philadelphia's children - not to mention this causing a ripple effect throughout the nation.

Christ. Shouts to Spec Boogie for the heads up.
