Kaytranada Is the Only Person Who Should Be Remixing Sade

When it comes to funky, club-ready edits, Kaytranada's owned that bag for a minute. He proved so recently during a spree of four uploads to his SoundCloud account. The most dynamic is his take on Sade's "Kiss of Life," which feels like what the grown and sexy bop to during Friday happy hour at the bar. Proper adulting with a stiff drink in your hands.



Kaytra didn't end there, though; he kept that exact same energy on his edit of A Tribe Called Quest's "Midnight," turning the opening loop of the 1994 classic into an early-night club banger.



He added a couple of gems as well, for good measure. These spring 2018-produced cuts aren't available for download, but work perfectly for your Sunday vibe.

Kaytranada's New Mixtape "0.001%" Is Better Than His Album "99.9%"

Earlier this year, Kaytranada dropped his long-awaited debut album 99.9%. While I dug it, it didn't give me the next level feels I thought I'd be getting. Dude's definitely a part of the future of black electronic music, but much of the project leaned on the club-ready jams that got people into his stellar remix game. It could be my fault; I love his deeper cuts with less 4-on-the-floor. Sue me.

This week, Kaytra got ill with it and let loose an almost 90-minute mixtape situation entitled "0.001%," which is said to feature "beats, loops, remixes and sounds made during the process of 99.9%." Look at this as cuts that might've painted the journey to that project...I just look at it as jams I wish I had on the release as well. No tracklist, but you'll hear some fly remixes as well as the instrumental to the Katy B track Kaytranada produced, "Honey."

WIKI Gave Away His New Album, 'Lil Me'

Don't you hate when you make a point to remember something...and then forget it? That's what happened to me and Wiki's Lil Me, a free album of heatrocks that the RATKING spitter dropped earlier this month. I was going through my e-mails and happened upon it;I didn't realize that he had features from Skepta, Hak (also from RATKING), and others on the mic, with beats from Madlib, Sporting Life, Yung Gutted, Kaytranada, and Skywlkr.

Wiki brings that '90s hip-hop aesthetic to the now, with an ear for twisted sonics. If you're sleeping, you're fucking all the way up. Stream below, then download the full project over on letterracer.com.

Download a Stack of Kaytranada Beats, Edits, and Remixes

While I'm not sure what came over Kaytranada to start unloading a bunch of bangers on his SoundCloud page, I'm glad I caught them when I did. Everything from random instrumentals and quick ideas to remixes of acts like Lucy Pearl to a Hilary Duff cover, dude has a bunch of heat for you. It's been almost a day since he upped something new, but I'd say keep it locked to Kaytra's SC just in case.

Freddie Gibbs & KAYTRANADA - "My Dope House"

While I know that many first heard of Kaytranada from his hybrid electronic bangers—which teeter on the edge of funky house jams and subdued trap-esque numbers—working with certified spitters like Freddie Gibbs is where Kaytra wants to be. Word is "My Dope House" drops in May digitally and on a limited 7".
