Gerald Walker "Christmas Everyday"

Don't get me fucked up - I fuck with Christmas. I have to - my wife loves Christmas, and I have a five year old. I'm celebrating. My thing is, I like holidays to fall in line. I see niggas putting up lights before Halloween touches down. And while it's against my better judgement, this Fred Hammond-inspired jawn from Walker's forthcoming It's Christmastime Again, Gerald Walker, which drops on the 17th of November. Call me a Grinch if you want to.

Gerald Walker "Please, Shut The Fuck Up"

I'll never understand someone who is trying to make it big(ger) in the music game getting seemingly so frustrated that they have to write a song asking people who are checking for them to shut up. I mean, I get the need for privacy... but it's not that easy when you willingly put yourself out there, in the eye of the public. We're sorry you can't be an everyman at this point - you have some kind of status, you feel me? In any case, Gerald tells us why he's really mad. His The Other Half Of Letting Go drops on the 20th of September (and I imagine that's a fact he'd like people to speak on), so be on the look out for that.

Gerald Walker "Recluse"

Gerald Walker "Recluse" (prod. by RMB Justize): Keeping with his Drake-esque jawn, Walker gobbles up this throwback feeling jawn from Justize for this non-The Other Half of Letting Go track. I’m not mad at dude – he has a better voice than a lot of artists who try to sing, but when I hear him bouncing from rapping to singing in his verses, it definitely has that Drake appeal. Walker actually feels like a nigga who could get on your “who’s next” lists. Dude’s got the drive, and Grand Hustle is helping put out his mixtape, so I figure he’s just as close as any of these other niggas.

Gerald Walker "Shackles"

Gerald Walker "Shackles" (prod. by J.LBS): Been seeing Walker get his weight up over the last few years, and he keeps it pushing. I was surprised to see that this cut might be a demo for something from his Grand Hustle-presented mixtape, The Other Half of Letting Go, as when I put it on, it felt like the furthest thing from Grand Hustle. Dude definitely doesn’t hold his tongue, but he also does that Drake thing of blending his rhymes and his sangin’ mid-verse. And the nigga does it with ease. It’s good to have an artist free from the shackles, really doing what the fox they want to do with their music.

Gerald Walker "Ran That Scam (Demo)"

Gerald Walker "Ran That Scam (Demo)": I’m kind of waiting for Gerald Walker to make a larger splash. Dude’s got crazy work ethic – hell, he dropped a few notable mixtapes in 2010, and is already working on an EP with Cardo of Taylor Gang. In between his hectic schedule, he demos a cut about smutting out chicks. It kind of reminds me of how Drake does things – some sly filth on the rhymes, with some crooning on the hook. He’s no Drake clone, but with the sparse beat and that subject matter, I hope he wasn’t waving his hands all around while recording his rhymes with an interesting twist.

Gerald Walker "Silent"

Gerald Walker "Silent": Anthony YNMD hit me with this new Walker jawn, taken from his I Remember When This All Meant Something project, which is due out July 16th. This is dropping in the morning, but this is one of those jams you play during those late night love sessions, that's my word.

Gerald Walker ft. Streetz 'N' Young Deuce "I Got Ya"

Gerald Walker ft. Streetz 'N' Young Deuce "I Got Ya": Apparently, Walker did like 52 demos for his I Remember When This All Meant Something... project (which drops on July 16th), and this is one of them. Skraight up Midwest unity w/ Chitown's Walker linking with them Milwaukee boys. I'm a fan.

YNotMyDream Presents 1

After a couple of leaks, and their site being shut down, YNotMyDream is still here, and celebrating it's one-year anniversary with this ill mixtape. I've been knockin' this here and there since I got it, and I must say - well-done, people. Great tracks on here from the likes of Gerald Walker, Mike Schpitz, Orie, Eshoel and many more, and just a great thank you to the heads, as well as a peak into what's in store for a dope blog in the near future. Hit the jump for the goods.

Gerald Walker "Killer Season"

Gerald Walker "Killer Season" (prod. by Kev Brown): From Gerald - "Killer Season is a time in Chicago when robberies, murders, prostitution and crime is on the rise. It Represents a time where winter has passed and summer has emerged. In Chicago last Thursday & Friday the weather was +70 degrees and by Saturday it was reported 41 people shot, 4 homicides in 50 hours. This is not a matter of glorification but an eyewitness account of the things I see while living in Chicago's West Side". With the way shit is going down in Jersey, I understand EXACTLY where homey is coming from.
