In a lot of my posts, I will give you my ideas and then give you, the reader, a scenario of where you might be in your life while listening to the track/project, primarily because everyone needs some kind of theme music, but also we aren’t just sitting at a table rocking tracks – music can make or break a mood, you smell me? On this project from Keon Supreme, he gives you the story – Just Cause takes place during a night in his life – from the job to the cipher to the show to the bed, with the theme of “love” and the journey of an up-and-coming artist weaved throughout. The “Lobster Talk” track, with dude describing his ills at the j-o sounds like I wrote it! It’s an intriguing release, and being a fan of Prince Paul and artists who take time to make sure their concept, whatever it is, runs through the entire project, I’m loving this. Featured MCs include Poetik Force and Blakface, with Jansport J, Salute The Gawd, Ben Bauer and other beatsmiths contributing the sonics, with Supreme even blessing the project with a beat of his own! This is like a good novel, a short clip into a complex life.
Keon Supreme "Be Happy" (prod. by Kaleem Wasif): here’s the first official single from Supreme’s Just Cause project – you remember, the album that follows the theme of a night in the life of Keon. Homey takes this idea that everyone universally strives for and, in the context of the thoughts before he goes to bed, paints this as the picture we all see in our sleep stories, detailing why we need that idea to become a reality.
Keon Supreme "Entrance (Interlude)" (prod. by Jansport J): Gotta say, while this track is capped off by vivid imagery from Keon Supreme, let me first just get this out of the way - that beat from J is tough. Being as Supreme's Just Cause project is a concept album, this is a dope take on what goes through an artist's mind when they enter the venue, thinking plenty thoughts before they get to touch the mic. Love how quickly this one comes and goes.
Keon Supreme "Let Go (Ludus)" (prod. by Jansport J): Keon’s back atop a Jansport J track with this first single from his Just Cause project. This project is kind of wild – it will be “covering all 6 different Greek words for the word love”, giving you different types of love in each cut, all juxtaposed with what Keon does on a regular night. This cut is a representation of when lust meets lust inna club, and the vocal intertwined in that beat plays like the angelic voice you hear from a cutie you’re digging on.
We brought you SUPREME about a month ago, and Keon is already thinking about his next project, Just Cause, which is due out in February 2011! Here's some info about what to expect from it...
"Just Cause." is going to be a conceptual album inspired by A Tribe Called Quest's album "Midnight Marauders." The music/beats on this album will be purposely made for late night drives and/or in chill settings. The lyrics on this project are going to be displaying what a night in my life is like. The night will start around 7 or 8pm and end at 4am when I usually get home. Usually the beginning of my nights start with me getting off of work so of course the first track will be me getting off work, hopping into my car, and rapping about how much I hate my job. After that the album will go into plenty other directions that my night life sometime takes me.
Keon Supreme has been leaking material from this album for the last six months or so. In his words, "A lot of you don't know the struggle it was to make this album. I've lost friends, love, money, and family just for to put out this one album and accomplish my dream. I put my HEART into this album and it reflects throughout it. At the end of the day this album was put forth so that we can all unite in changing the world. I want people to see how similar each and everyone of is because I feel once we all realize the fact that we are all pretty much the same we can all then possess some type of unity. In this album you hear my struggles with God, love, and many more topics".
Keon Supreme "Flow" (prod. by Jansport J): Some Cali flavor for you today, provided by @KeonSupreme over a banger of a @JansportJ track. Keon's album, SUPREME, is set to drop July 26th, and I'm gonna pray the rest of the album rocks as hard as this does. Shit's tough, you feel me? You fuck with this? Grab MakingSupreme: The Appetizer.
