One of those tracks where the title can't be more literal. After some time on the low, Gripz hit me like "I'm back", and asked for the "Shook Ones, Part 2" instrumental. After a year, this cut dropped as he usually does (i.e. less than 24 hours), and he sounds sharper. 2012 might need to be a problem.
Gripz ft. K. Sparks "Soulful" (prod. by Anno Domini): New leak from Poetic Literature 3, Gripz is growing from strength to strength. Anno’s drums have that nice militant feel to them, almost sounding like some recent Sade ish, which he builds a nice bed atop of it. Really moving. Gripz and Sparks cut open their chests and let their soul peak out on this. Loads of witty bars, really taking advantage of the beauty in this beat. Poetic Literature 3 is on the way!
Gripz "The Chosen" (prod. by Vherbal): Gripz is still on his Poetic Literature 3 ish (which should be dropping via 2DBz and this very site sometime soon), and this is the newest latest jawn, not even 24 hours old. Enjoy.
Gripz "I Declare War Freestyle": DMV lyricist Gripz has been massacring the (2) Dope Freestyle Fridays for a minute now, and this banger over the "I Declare War" instrumental is his final edition. Hit this link if you want to backtrack through his appearances on 2DBz, and big up to Meka for shedding light on dope lyricists like this.
Gripz "Journal" (prod. by Vherbal): Newest/latest from Gripz, who does a gang of work. If you're missing his work over on 2DBz' (2)Dope Freestyle Fridays, do the knowledge. This cut is taken from Poetic Literature 3, which should be presented by 2dopeboyz and rockthedub. Keep it locked for more on this!
Gripz "Primal Urge" (prod. by Anno Domini): Gripz does some of his best work w/ the homey Anno, so it's no surprise that the first leak from Poetic Literature 3 is a cut that Anno produced, playing as a description of the hunger Gripz has, and his taste for the art and fame.
Gripz "My Darling": Gripz takes a page from Eminem's book and conjures up some twisted imagery over Em's "My Darling". He was on a particularly massive tear last week, as you should've seen with the number of posts I threw up. Word is he has a great opportunity with another site, but I'm not spilling those beans. In due time.
Gripz "Position Of Power": If you labels aren't fuckin' with Gripz, he gonna go up in your car, leave his CD in your player. Here's his latest freestyle, over 50 Cent's "Position of Power". The Prelude, coming soon!
Gripz "Ima Pick This Rope Up And Ima Tie It Round Ya Fukin Neck": The Prelude continues on. Gripz is still on a tear, this time visitng Wayne's World and stealing the "Drop The World" instrumental. If you're hating, he's going harder, so keep it up!
Gripz "Catalina Freestyle": I hipped you guys to The Preludelast week, and the homey Gripz has been on a tear with the freestyles as of late. Yesterday, Meka dropped freestyles for "Cuckoo" and "Taking My Ball & Going Home", which G decimates. Today, Gripz asked for the "Catalina" instrumental, and no lie an hour later he hits me off with this banger. Dude's a dedicated monster!
Gripz "Ruger, AK, Dezy": That Lloyd Banks "Beamer, Benz, Bentley" shit is heating up right now, so it was only right that one of the DMV's more lyrical cats goes in over the instrumental. Get set for Gripz' next project, The Prelude, which will serve as a prelude to Poetic Literature 3.
I'd love to say it's been a long time coming for this mixtape, but realistically, Poetic Literature only dropped last October. Told you niggas that Gripz is a rhyme animal. This latest mixtape is the same brand of lyrical fury from the last one, with Gripz coastin' over original beats as well as found instrumentals. ArtByShake.

Wordsmith "The Making Of Senor Wordsmith" (prod. by Strada): Got a pair of leaks for you at work or not at work heads on President's Day, from Words' The Vintage Vault Mixtape, which drops on February 23rd. This is only a small piece of the puzzle... the bonus beat down there is a major piece, featuring a lot of RTD affiliates. This is FAR from a game, people. Keep it locked!
Bonus Beats Wordsmith ft. Kontact, Black Knight, Cyrano, Braille, Gripz, Laelo Hood, Lef, Steadfast, E-Major, Sir Aah, Genesis Elijah, Manny Moscow & Junclassic "Coming For The Top Spot" (prod. by Stealf)
Gripz "Hell's Highway" (prod. by 2Deep): Been a bit since I've posted some new new from DMV rep Gripz; dude doesn't stop, I told you guys this. Here's a heavy story (backed by a heavy guitar loop) that Gripz concocted. I bet many of you have had dreams (nightmares?) that resemble the images he conjures. These are taken from Poetic Literature 2: Angels & Demons, his next mixtape which I imagine will be dropping in 2010. Who knows, he works so hard it might drop next week!
Gripz "Fire" (prod. by Vherbal): Here's some fire to help you introduce the true Fall, aka Daylight Savings Time. Gripz must have a shitload of bangers on deck - everytime I turn around, he has a grip of tunes to hit me with (no pun intended). When Gripz and Vherbal link up... win.
Since, say, mid-June, I've been getting hit up on twitter by this MD spitter by the name of Gripz. Normally, that ish bothers me, mainly because I'd rather get tracks sent to me via email, but something about homey's consistent persistence piqued my interest. In speaking to him, I found out that he works at a fast pace, completing tracks daily, or so it seems. And this isn't like a rough draft - this is 3 verses, hooks, pretty much finished product. Over the last month or two, I've posted some leaks to his material, most of it coming from this mixtape, Poetic Literature, which is hosted by DJ Whiteowl, Anno Domini Records (Anno Domini produced a lot of these tracks) and DJ Heat. Throughout this tape, dude gives you bars. Bars bars bars. Bars for days, speaking on varying topics. The homey Wordsmith co-signed him (hell, he's featured on two tracks), which is a big look for a budding DMV spitter, and at being only 20 years old, I wonder how he will grow over the next couple of years...
See this as the perfect introduction to a budding MC from the Maryland area. And if you're digging this, know that Poetic Literature 2 is on the way!
Gripz "Rap Revolution" (prod. by Anno Domini): Here's another lyrical exercise from Gripz. This is very hot off the press - he sent me an e-mail with this like 2 hours ago, and said he finished it not too longer before he sent it. Now here's the kicker: his Poetic Literature mixtape isn't out yet (he says its set to drop on Friday) - this cut is from Poetic Literature Pt. 2! You know how we do. Be on the lookout for that, and vibe out to this.
Gripz ft. Wordsmith "Maryland Connection (DMV Anthem)" (prod. by Street Level): Here's a bonafide Maryland anthem from Gripz and the homey Wordsmith, taken from Gripz' Poetic Literature project, which should be dropping relatively soon. It's simple: dope lyrical expressions over a slick beat (Street Level always comes correct). DMV STAND UP!
