Al-Shid - "Clubba Lang"

To build up for Creed, I ended up re-watching all of the Rocky films. Somehow, while I remember Clubber Lang being a goddamn beast in the Sega Master Drive video game, I forgot how amazing he was in Rocky III. That said, I'm glad that Old Maid Millionaires Al Shid and J-Zone linked back up to drop this ode to Lang, which is reportedly the first single from The Best of AL SHID (The Old Maid Years), which is due out early 2016. These two making music together is what the rap game has been missing.

J-Zone - "Time For A Crime Wave"

While J-Zone might be more known these days for the drum licks he plays, he's still a dynamo when he has an idea, a pen and a pad. On his latest split 7" release (where he drops a fire song and a fire instrumental), Zone and Chief Chinchilla call "for the return of squeegeemen on the streets of NYC and Joe Clark-baseball bat order in the music biz." Rock that, then peep the bonus instrumental, "I Smell Smoke."

J-Zone & Chief Chinchilla: Gators-N-Furs "(Un)Safe Sex" Mix

Gators-N-Furs is back! From J-Zone: "For those who actually remember and enjoyed these themed mix shows I used to put out monthly: Here's the random Gators-n-Furs reunion that happens every now and then.

This show's theme: Safe sex. Or unsafe sex. Take your pick. After all, why spend hours at the gym preparing for summer and spend all that money getting fresh gear at Marshall's when you're exposing yourself to a sexually-transmitted gamma ray? Just a thought. From STDs to unwanted pregnancies, this show is the soundtrack to the irresponsible, painful, and scary (albeit hilarious at times) adventures of glove-less love. Yes, I found 25+ great songs about this stuff. Ignorant and crude at times, but oh so informative".

When Rappers Are Forced To Get Day Jobs

First off, shouts to J-Zone's grandmother for reaching 88 years on this earth. She celebrated her birthday with a bran muffin and a copy of Root for The Villain, Zone's new book, which drops on in November. I've gotten my mitts on a promo copy, and when I get a chance to read it, I'm amazed. Here he is, one of the true DIY artists within the underground Hip-Hop scene, crafting not only a story on his life through a Hip-Hop scope, but also dropping GEMS that you new school artists should really take notice of. He's a purist, and it shows, and honestly, whether it's Professional Wrestling or Hip-Hop, we all need a dose of that research and experience before really tackling our own dreams. In this excerpt from the book, Zone breaks down what happens when someone with a Rap career is forced to go back into the workforce. I fucking hate my job, and hope any rapper who is worth their weight in acetate can somehow maintain an existence in the industry, on their own terms. I wish I could. In any case, head on over to egotripland and check out this excerpt, then buy the book when he drops it... and if THAT'S not enough, check out another excerpt, "5 Rap Songs That Got Me In Deep Sh*t".

J-Zone's Putting Out A Book

If you're like me, you're an old fan of the man like J-Zone. Whether it's on the boards creating heat (hell, he has a placement on the forthcoming Has-Lo project) or the hilarity he brings in his rhymes, you always got his ill personality and wit in anything he did. Do remember, though, Zone is a hustler and a smart motherfucker, and on the low he's been writing some ill pieces on his different perspectives on the Hip-Hop game, both past and current. I'm happy to see that homey has actually written a book, Root For The Villian: Rap, Bullsh*t and A Celebration Of Failure (of which you can check an excerpt of the first chapter via egotripland). Zone's book is about the music industry/business, but given his unique view on life (which mirrors a lot of the sentiments I hold on things), it turns into something more. Peep Zone's breakdown after the jump, read the Chapter 1 excerpt, then cop the book when he drops it. I will have this read soon - need to get back on my literary dean! I know this is set to drop in Fall of 2011, although via govillaingo.com, Zone is looking at a November 1st release date. Keep on the look out for all of that!

GATOR$-n-FUR$ Mixshow: DEAD BROKE! (Dec. 2008)

J-Zone & Chief Chinchilla are back from their two-month hiatus, which they spent promoting Live @ The Liqua Sto (which you can grab off of iTunes), but due to the US officially being in a recession, and their normal infighting, this MIGHT be the last GATOR$-n-FUR$ Mixshow! Make sure you grab this, early, and pray that they continue on...
