Jean Grae & Quelle Chris "My Contribution To This Scam" (Video)

If you're talking best albums of 2018 and not mentioning Jean Grae and Quelle Chris' Everything's Fine, your list is off. One of the best tracks from the project, "My Contribution To This Scam," gets a dope visual, animated by Crackbunny. It does a great job of playing off of the fuckery in the hip-hop game that Chris and Jean bring up. And it's also just a beautiful piece of art. Watch it in full below.

All of the Mixtapes You Might Have Missed While You Were Trying to Survive Christmas

I don't know about you, but I'm wrecked. When you're married (...with children) and have to pull together the magic of Christmas out of your hind parts, it can take a toll on your psyche (the Bulleit bourbon might have contributed to that, too–Thanks, babe!). It can also make you miss a bunch of the fuckery that happens on the Internet when you're singing about mommy kissing Santa Claus or tweeting about A Christmas Story. While we caught up with stuff like that new Busta Rhymes tape, there are a bunch of releases that might have gone unopened.

That said, December 26 is (unofficially) the day to catch up on the world of online hip-hop mixtape drops, so download/stream/buy a bunch of music that dropped under the radar due to your egg nog-induced haze.

Two Combat Jack Shows featuring Jean Grae

Been falling behind, post-wise, but I have my reason(s). Combat Jack never stops, and has been churning out a grip of episodes. The latest both feature Jean Grae (aka the MC FKA WhatWhat). As you can see from Theotis Jones' showbill, one features the legendary Bobbito Garcia, while the most recently-released episode features Tanya Morgan's Donwill. If you're stuck at the j-o, just run these back-to-back, then catch-up on episodes you've missed.

The Combat Jack Show (6/23/2011)

I knew they weren't gonna have a show at the regular time on the 22nd, due to Dallas hosting the Random Axe show - I had no idea they were still doing a show this week. The first half hour is dope - this year's BYOB BBQ is going to be memorable - and they had special guest Jean Grae in the building. You already know!

Jean Grae ft. Styles P & Talib Kweli "R.I.P."

Jean Grae ft. Styles P & Talib Kweli "R.I.P." (prod. by Ski Beatz): I remember first hearing this back when I could still blog at work. I've been a fan of Grae since she was a Natural Resource, and everytime I hear her beasting over a dope beat, I get that old feeling back. I remember back when I first peeped this, they were calling for Cake Or Death. Now we're asking for Cookies Or Coma? Whatever the project is called, I'll take two.

The Herbliaser Herbal Tonic Cover+Tracklist

One of my favorite groups, The Herbaliser, have been doing their brand of Hip-Hop/Funk/Jazz/Film score-inspired tracks for a while, and I've been on the journey. Fifteen years. Ninja Tune took notice and have sorted out this Best Of disc, featuring 15 tracks of fury, including DJ Food's "Mrs. Chombee Takes The Plunge" remix, their Jean Grae featured tracks, "Starlight" with Roots Manuva (a personal favorite), "The Missing Suitcase", the MF DOOM-featured "It Ain't Nuttin'"and a previously-unreleased track, "March Of The Death Things". This drops on June 14th in the UK, and June 29th in North America. Hit the jump for the tracklist.
