Before dropping Escapism in 2Q 2012, J.Slikk flips a dope compilation of 13 tracks, featuring some unreleased cuts, mixtape jawns, new tracks, instrumentals and other cuts from guys like Cyrano, Junclassic, R.O.E., Rashid Hadee, SteadyFlow and plenty more. I've heard a number of these tracks before, so to hear a lot of these with vocals atop? Major. Awesome work. Don't even think about sleeping.
Not sure if R.O.E. knows, but my birthday is tomorrow, so he actually hit me with an early birthday gift a few hours ago. Grabbing Common's latest No I.D.-produced excellence, ROE really kicks some random thoughts atop the finest track. Straight heat, too. More like a book of rhymes, with ROE just thumbing through the pages, picking his inner-most thoughts and bleeding them onto the beat. Be on the lookout for his TheRadiantChildLP, which he's trying to drop this December. Coast to this one for the time being, though.
R.O.E. "Revive (Live)": ROE recently flipped one of my favorite tracks from A Backpacker Named R.O.E. (which RTD presented back in March) in-studio and recorded this session, and I think the J. Slikk beat got a dope live reinterpretation. Sounds like homey really knows how to present his shit in a live setting - you trying to book him? Let the BPA affiliate touch down on your city and revive that Hip-Hop spirit - it won't die as long as he's breathing.
FINALLY! I don't even know how long I've been waiting to provide this to you guys, but with life going on for everyone involved, this EP, a proper introduction to the one like R.O.E. is here. A Backpacker Named R.O.E. is a mixture of true school beats, captivating, heartfelt lyrics and a load of life experience from one of the underground's immensely talented writers. R.O.E. blends the same above and below ground tendencies, giving us tracks about the struggle of the everyman as well as his aspirations for more. Tracks like "Starship", which are definitive statements of his goal of getting known based off his talents taking him out of the galaxy, while songs like "Revive" are R.O.E. as a defibrillator to the Hip-Hop game. Beats provided by J. Slikk, Best Kept Secret, Trumaine and Chris Mathien, with Chris and Brecan Bland. Give a dope nigga a chance, you hockeypucks.

When he’s not on Facebook talking about lyrics he wrote that (thankfully) got erased, mad omen-like, he’s emailing about unforgotten albums and sending thirty second snippets of new Cy Yung material. This nigga. You might remember me speaking on Escapism a while back, but know that what was told to me in the past is not what’s dropping now, as the album has been completely stripped and redone. With 100% more focus and fire, I’m guessing. Homey is saying that he should be sorting this out Late Spring / Early Summer 2011, so be on the lookout.
