RIP dubplatedigest.net

I guess it was bound to happen. I'd been getting DMCA violations periodically for my Drum & Bass blog, dubplatedigest.net, primarily due to posting BBC 1Xtra radio shows from guys like Bailey and Crissy Criss. They would come in every now and again - the last one before the most recent was from November of last year. I'm never sure WHY the takedowns occur - they reference a particular show, but I believe it's because of a particular song, not the actual show, because I post these up WEEKLY and never caught any flack (not that I can tell - any search I do on Chilling Effects pulls up nothing on the links I was given, a practice I've seen numerous times) (and any flack I would get - say a DJ asking for a post to come down - would be handled quickly). Thing is, due to these violations, Blogger ganked the entire blog. Even odder, the URL was due for renewal later this month, so I guess that's $50 I'm not spending!

This does not mean the end of RTD by any means... just a difference of the post flow. More scheduled posts, which could end up being a very good thing. The Friday playlists will end up being posted later in the day, for good or ill. That might be the main letdown - but what can you do? Gotta make the bacon! Plus, this will actually allow me to do MORE writing - which could mean more interviews?! Who knows. Just wanted to give you lot a heads up!

Blog Science Part 1 with Audible Hype

I don't do a lot of interviews - I think I've been interviewed like 3 times since I started this blog - but totally forgot that the homey @Worldaround got at me with some questions about my thoughts and blogging ways, and the piece is finally up. He also got at @RafiKam of Oh Word and @DavidReyneke from Potholes In My Blog about different aspects, who are two of my peoples. It's an interesting read, I highly recommend you check it out.

Setting up a mini blog in Blogger is retardo. So I didn't do it. But if you hit the sidebar, there's a new menu entitled "pint size dub". Those are links that I feel are very choice. Keep your eyes on it, as I will be updating it a few times a day.

Do Bloggers Get Sponsored?

I like clothes. I'm no fashion plate, but ill clothes (especially dope t-shirts) always make me excited. I have like 3 t-shirt drawers: one for the ones my son can spit up and puke on (I'm smart like that), one's that I don't mind going to the grocery store with, and one drawer with my tees that I treat better than my suit(s). I have just always been like that.

Another thing I have been is a loud spokesperson for things I love and appreciate. If you peep my blog on any regular basis, you see - I ride for the shit I love.

Now, those in the skateboarding scene know, the thing to get is a sponsorship. It shows that you aren't just some regular cat. Some company, whether it's clothes or boards or whatever, feels that you can be a representative of their brand.

Shouldn't bloggers get the same treatment? Most bloggers have their own voice, but aside from cats like Eskay getting linked up with the Complex fam, or TSS and Rizoh being down with Rawkus, I don't really see much like that in the blogosphere, esp. the Hip-Hop blogs.

So, what say you clothing companies? Do you want me, a guy who appreciates style, to be your online face?

We're Back

I apologize for rock the dub being down for a good chunk of yesterday evening... I was testing a DNS server setting, which ended up being dead. I was off the PC for like 7 hours (trying to finally get my landlord's shit out of my spot), and didn't get on until like midnight last night/this morning. DNS settings have been fixed, and while http://rockthedub.com doesn't seem to work (still!), www.rockthedub.com is back in effect.

bear with me...

...as I deal with Blogger. I thought I had my template saved, but while testing different templates, I realized that when I tried to revert to my old set up, all of the text on my right side was not saved in the template. What the fuck. In any case, I'm cleaning it up. Might be premiering a new template.
