Psy:am [RTDLTD006]

Out today is the latest release on RTDLTD, and it's also the first dubstep release on the imprint. Psy:am has been moving from strength to strength, and what's dope is that as ill as this release is, he's since been making some HEAVIER tunes! Really upping the ante. The sixth release for RTDLTD is also the first Dubstep release in the series. UK Producer Psy:am has an interesting take on dubstep, and has been seeing his stock rise in the last year with his DJing. He’s a resident at Fabric, and holds down a podcast that brings in mixes and interviews with some of the scene’s finest. This first release of his production prowess should show that he’s more than a talented selector – he can make a proper tune, too!

“London’s Broken” owes a lot to the Dub side of things, with the unforgettable vocal sample being manipulated and refashioned as an ethereal melody atop his plodding bassline. An obvious influence on this tune is Burial, who creates Dubstep that’s both interesting and open, letting the listener really walk around and take everything in in their own way. “London’s Broken” does that, but also sounds like the thoughts of a youth wandering through a broken city in the wee hours of the night. Captivating stuff! On the flipside, Psy:am brings the heavyweight bass with “Down the Rabbit Hole”, playing as a twisted soundtrack to Alice’s ventures into Wonderland, with a bassline that stretches and contorts like Alice’s body. Something for both sides of the Dubstep circle, yeah?

Please note: there was a slight mix-up with the masters, so it might take a bit longer for some sites to have the proper versions. Please purchase from the above links for the final copies. Sorry for any confusion!
