Rich Quick - "Sad Songz" EP [preview]

Back in November of 2012, we put you on to Rich Quick's Sad Songz EP (which is out on August 20 via Ben Frank Recordings), which was a true departure for the NJ/Philly spitter. He's been everything from that boy on the stoop to that king in the cipher, and this feels like he's trying to show more of the man behind the sunglasses, cassette tape, and skully. He's not totally becoming "alternative," just bearing more his soul.

Rich worked with Streece, the production duo that's worked with cats like Ghostface Killah and Lil Wayne, and while some might think "oh he about to get his name out there," this more about just expression. And don't get the title fucked up; it might be titled Sad Songz, but Rich isn't some depressive. I saw the homey at the Jersey Fresh Jam recently, and he's just in love with the idea of the project. Stays smiling. The beats just spoke to him, showing how a real artist does it. Preview the first two singles below:

This project might be super Philly, but not too many in the tri-state are attacking the mic like this on beats like these. You can pre-order Sad Songz today; it'll be one of the best hip-hop releases from an artist that you should be up on, but aren't.
