Genrokka ft. Boom Blake, GMA & Brixx "You'll See Freestyle"

One of my favorite instrumentals gets dismantled by some of Trenton's wildest. Boom and Gen shouldn't be strangers to RTD fans, and I've posted a grip of their shit before. This is another jawn from Genrokka's forthcoming James Bernard Vol. 1 mixtape, which is now dropping Spring 2012. Some shit to rock to, while inebriated. Pour something up.

Side-B TV, Episode 1

The first episode of Side-B TV is here! I believe this drops on TV in two weeks, but Phil and Divine had to let this one fly. Loads of fresh Hip-Hop videos thrown between footage of the guys at a DJ Convention in Atlantic City, which features a dope interview with Da Beatminerz. Go in!

Genrokka ft. Corey Kelly "Imagine Dat"

Genrokka is really going in with these classic flips. Grabbing the classic "Close The Door", Genny peers into the looking glass, trying to get an idea of what would happen if this life wasn't really life. Sounds like the dreams of kids looking out of project windows, stomach grumbling. Or those just struggling. AKA US. He did well with grabbing a singer from Trenton, Corey Kelly, to touch down on the hook. I know Kelly had some ish on the way, but hadn't heard if it came to fruition. I know Genny has his James Bernard Mixtape Series Vol 1 project on the way. Soon. Might wanna get lifted to this and really contemplate life.

Genrokka ft. DJ Bark Da Ripper "The Cook Out"

Genrokka ft. DJ Bark Da Ripper "The Cook Out": You already know. Growing up as a kid, one of the things I loved about the summer was cookout season. I was a fan of grilled food, and being around my family. As I grew older, I was the one burning cooking the food, and was a fiend for getting my Old Black People Music collection on smash, so my mom wouldn't be asking me to change the song every five minutes (#jukekhal). Anyways, Genny goes IN over that classic Maze for a track that us (getting) older niggas can bounce to. I'll be 30, so I heard my mom singing this one, and I hope to impart both the (bugged out) shit I listen to alongside classics like this to my son. Give him more to listen to than "Boom Boom Pow". Oh, I should probably mention that Genrokka's DJ Bark Da Ripper-hosted James Bernard Mixtape Series Vol 1 is dropping soon. Hope more flavors like this are included!

Boom Blake & Genrokka The Credit Union

The New Year's Day releases keep rollin' in, with a tape I've been anticipating for a bit. Straight out of Trenton, NJ, we've got Money First's Boom Blake linking up with Genrokka for their long-awaited Credit Union album, with beats provided by Divine Drummah, Ill Kayn, Sinitus Tempo and plenty more. These cats are about ends, and the money talk is long, but they also take time out to speak about life, with heartfelt tracks like "Black Woman" rounding out what turns into an unexpectedly diverse tracklisting here. I also love the throwback samples in a number of these tracks - love hearing cats from my era dipping back into classic sounds.

Genrokka "This Is The Life"

Genrokka "This Is The Life": With Teena Marie’s recent passing, I was halfway expecting mad cats to start flipping her tracks. That hasn’t happened, which is probably for the better – I need to find out who made this beat. They flipped “Portuguese Love”, a personal favorite from her back cat, and really lay down some proper grown man bars about living your life your way, realizing the consequences for your actions, good or bad. The way they slid Lady T into that hook is so beautiful, too. Just enforces what Genny spits throughout the jawn. Something to sip something to and really think about your life and actions. Trenton’s got this on lock, you smell me?

The Credit Union "Hard Body"

The Credit Union "Hard Body": Genrokka & Boom Blake recently leaked another cut from their Credit Union album, and this one is just what it says it is. Lovin’ the instrumental on this one – can’t even front, this one got a few rewinds today. I’d hope you niggas wouldn’t sleep on Trenton, or at least keep this track upfront in your record bins. Perfect cut for the impending cold front, although The Credit Union keeps it hot.

Genrokka "Rebirth"

Genrokka "Rebirth" (prod. by Lord P): As we wait for that Credit Union tape to drop, he uses this Lord P throwback track to detail his past as he outlines his future. Something to blast LOUD as you ride around your city, plotting.

Boom Blake & Genrokka ft. AP The Mayor "Black Woman"

Boom Blake & Genrokka ft. AP The Mayor "Black Woman": Blake hit me up on the BBM while they were making this and told me that he had something special on the way - this totally lived up to it. "Black Woman" is just that - it's an ode to those women who were strong enough to do it on their own - raising a family on next to nothing, struggling to survive and teaching their kids the way. This is the kind of message we grew up on in the late '80s Hip-Hop, but sentiments like this don't scream out anymore. This is taken from Boom & Gen's Credit Union street album, which is due out September 2010, and boasts production from Ill Kayn, Divine Drummah, Dolo, QuestGod and more. Trenton, NJ - we still makin' it.

Genrokka "When I See U"

Genrokka "When I See U": Gen flips a current favorite to reminisce on all of the niggas passed away/not on the street. It's almost like he's writing a letter to them on wax. Light a candle and let that shit dissipate into the air, they see you right now. This is off of James Bernard. Enjoy that.

Genrokka "Young, Gifted & Black"

Genrokka "Young, Gifted & Black": I first introduced you guys to Gen via Money First's "Gettin' Money"; if you were smart, you "Where Did She Go" off of the DJ Books-mixed Crawl B4 U Walk, and earlier today I got this quick shot over a classic Kane instrumental. Gen (PKA Genera'l) represents Trenton, and has been putting in work - you might have heard him on mixtapes from DJs Doo Wop and Green Lantern to local favorites like Plexx. Genrokka has a few projects on deck, from The Credit Union with Money First's Boom Blake, as well as his album Give U Me (the single "Give U Me" should be coming out soon).

Money First ft. Genrokka & Kilogram "Gettin' Money"

Money First ft. Genrokka & Kilogram "Gettin' Money": I'm sorry, this cut is kind of mean right now. Trenton in the house as the Money First unit drops this fresh cut on you. If you want to live that "Lamborghini Lifestyle", you need to get that loot, so of course MF has to devote a track to this. Yes, that History Channel shit is real - trust and believe. Get yours.
