L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Necromance"

Been a minute since some new L.E.G.A.C.Y. has hit my inbox. Shit's kind of crazy - this isn't something you can just throw on. This track is part of the heavier side of his catalog, and an example of why I fucks with dude. Forreal - don't bitch out after pushing play. Word is the official version of this track will drop on Amerikkkan Psycho, which I'm told is on the way. Heavyweight psychopath sounds.

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "The Resignation (I Quit)"

Everytime I get new music from the boy L.E.G.A.C.Y., I always wish heads fucked with hims sounds like I did. I also wish I had dropped this when I got it, last week, but I feel like a lot of you cats slept on it anyways. Taken from Hopscotch Killer, which Legs MIGHT be dropping digitally (and features beats from Khrysis, Tom Delay, Soul Professa and others), Leg echoes what I feel a lot of talented, slept-on MCs might be singing. Call it an anthem. I know a grip of really ill artists hit me on some "I don't think I can do this anymore", which I hate hearing... but totally understand. And if I had the funds to fund their fun, I'd do it in a heart beat. In any case, if the subject matter fits your state of mind when it comes to your art, here's your anthem. And if you're looking for more info on Legs, check out this recent interview.

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Demons"

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Demons" (prod. by Tom Delay): New leak from the homey Legs, which finds him staying just as personal and raw as ever over a SICK Tom Delay beat. Gotta say, I'm a big fan of homey's work, and this is some of the best shit I've heard from him. I can only pray that the Devil lets Delay and Leg put in more work. Amerikkkan Psycho album on the way... maybe?

L'Daialogue DiCaprio ft. L.E.G.A.C.Y. “Where's The Match”

L'Daialogue DiCaprio ft. L.E.G.A.C.Y.Where's The Match”: This has that throwback, Southern-tinged dark sound to it. That 90’s late-night murder type shit. This cut is taken from the Kevin Nottingham-presented I Built My Buzz 2, and features the one and only L.E.G.A.C.Y.. Love the idea that a nigga is looking for the match to set fire to his hot shit, burning the track to pieces. Leg’s definitely a Neanderthal, and is the perfect endcap to this banger. Fuck with this, then peep the full jammer.

J.Good Look On The Brightside

I’ve been patiently waiting for this project to get released; judging by the leaks I’ve already posted, it’s a no brainer – this shit knocks. J.Good is a competent MC, who isn’t afraid to speak on whatever he’s got on his mind. I did have a concern: I didn’t want the quality of the features (with MCs like Von Pea, L.E.G.A.C.Y., TiRon, El Prez and others) to overshadow dude’s skill, or be “the reason niggas check for it”, and I’m proud to say homey holds his own. “Crazy Dreamin’”, is an open and honest knocker, and not the only opportunity Good gives you to step into his world. With beats from Nefarious, Jansport J and others, the sonic liquor cabinet is well stocked. It’s all wins, really – and with a day like today, where it’s all rainy/snowy and dreary, you need tapes like this to help you search for that sunshine.

J.Good ft. L.E.G.A.C.Y & Von Pea "Change My Way"

J.Good ft. L.E.G.A.C.Y. & Von Pea "Change My Way" (prod. by Tellapath): Having just been introduced to J.Good the other day, I wasn’t expecting him to sort out a track with two of my favorite MCs, L.E.G.A.C.Y. and Von Pea. It’s almost like they crafted this track for me. Over a heavenly beat, Leg, Pea and J provide exactly what the title says – breaking down the trials and tribulations that sew the seeds for changes niggas have to make in life. It’s hard being a starving artist, especially when you’re locked up for slanging trees when you should be in the studio or on tour. Love the cuts DJ Jun throws on here – has a lil Preem feel to it, cutting up phrases to accent the underlying theme. Beautiful track. Look On The Brightside is on the way.

Featuring L.E.G.A.C.Y., Pt. 2

Glad this new mixtape from DJ Forge and L.E.G.A.C.Y. is out there. After the illness that was Part 1, it's great to hear Legs spit alongside cats like Chaundon, Skyzoo, Dirt Platoon, Soulogik and plenty more, featuring beats from 9th Wonder, Tom Delay, Khrysis and others. Legs is the proper star, IMO, but you know, this isn't no BS. Take a couple shots and dig deep, you smell me?

DJ Concept & DJ Mickey Knox ft. L.E.G.A.C.Y., Kaleber & Typ Ill "Ya Gone (DJ JS-1 Remix)"

DJ Concept & DJ Mickey Knox ft. L.E.G.A.C.Y., Kaleber & Typ Ill "Ya Gone (DJ JS-1 Remix)" [clean | dirty]: You probably slept on the BYOB EP – for shame. There’s a lot of sick Hip-Hop being made that you “everything is dead” fucks continue to sleep on. Concept and Knox have their BYOB LP set to drop soon, and this bombastic remix of “Ya Gone”, concocted by the one and only JS-1, is the lead single. I’m biased, but the boy Leg went in. BYOB also features rhymes from Chaundon, Big Noyd, Illa Ghee and Little Vic, with beats provided by DJ Supa Dave, DJ Skizz, Little Vic and more.

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Window Pain Pt. 1"

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Window Pain Pt. 1" (prod. by Dox): Been a bit since I’ve spoken with Legs, but it’s good to know one of my favorite MCs is still providing that real shit. Leg’s Featuring Part 2 is due out soon, but right now? This shit has a crazy feel to it – that sample Dox uses is intense. Feels like some Rocky shit, which might be good for Leg. Underdog status. Ready to duff the fuck out of whomever you see as invincible. I could see this as Leg’s intro track at his next show.

J Wheels ft. L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Nose Candy"

J Wheels ft. L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Nose Candy": Told you guys Legs wasn't chillin' - he killin'. The homey J Wheels is known for that "Mighty Floe Young" jawn - as a matter of fact, Wheels and Edgar Allen Floe have Floetry In Motion on the way this Fall, but to prelude to that, check out Let The Tracks Go, which features Nottz, Royce Da 5'9, Jean Grae, Edgar, Legs, 7even and many more. This track finds Leg expanding on the musical dope that he continues to feed to the people. Love the blues-y feel in this one, nice vibe on it. The rest of the project is dope; an ill showcase of what a dope producer can do.

L.E.G.A.C.Y. ft. Keisha Shontelle "Can't Tell Me Nothin'"

L.E.G.A.C.Y. ft. Keisha Shontelle "Can't Tell Me Nothin'": After the critical praise that his Month of Mayhem accumulated, Leg is back with a new project, Featuring L.E.G.A.C.Y. Pt. 2, which will be presented by KevinNottingham.com and DJ Forge. You guys might remember FL Pt. 1, which HipHopDX helped put out back in 2007 - this is bigger and better. Anyways, I love hearing Keisha get her Kanye on in this one, and Leg murdering one of my favorite Kanye tracks is priceless.

RTD Presents L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Old Smacks For New Jacks

As The Month Of Mayhem has been going on, I've been revisiting a lot of L.E.G.A.C.Y.'s work pre-Project Mayhem, and I realized - this shit held up VERY well. He's a lyrical dude who isn't afraid to speak his mind and his heart, and wins you over with that quality time and again. Reminds me of the nigga New Jack, one of the most hardcore professional wrestlers ever. Do the knowledge on his track record. I got the idea to combine Leg's tracks up to into an unauthorized mix, and the inclusion of some of my favorite New Jack interviews, promos and such just made this flow nicely. This mix, which drops on the five-year anniversary of the release of Project Mayhem, ended up being two parts, so if you still record onto cassettes, this is PERFECT for you. I got my mittens on some cuts that haven't been distributed to the masses, thrown in with Project Mayhem album-cuts, previous leaks and Legsclusives. There are features from Big Pooh, Phonte, Comanche, Sean Boog and wrestlers like The Iron Sheik and The Honky Tonk Man. Sometimes the shit is funny, sometimes the reality can be too hard to face... but its all raw and real. Hit the jump for the goods.

Featuring L.E.G.A.C.Y. P. 1

Here's a blast from 2007 - HipHopDX dropped this special mix of tracks L.E.G.A.C.Y. was featured on from the likes of Litthe Brother, Buckshot, Sean Boog and many more! From what I know, bigger plans were to come from this, but due to a CD pressing plant problem, this was shortlived. Word from Leg is that Featuring L.E.G.A.C.Y. Vol. 2 will be on the way, presented by DJ Forge and KevinNottingham.com. Enjoy this while you wait for that...

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Pairadice" x "Wanted Man"

As The Month Of Mayhem flows on, we've got two more cuts from L.E.G.A.C.Y., both produced by Khrysis and from the 2003/2004 era:

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Pairadice" (prod. by Khrysis): Here's another track that Leg wrote in Johnston County jail, Smithville, NC in 2003. From what he says, "Pairadice" was "one of my favorite songs that I've done and one of the most personal. It was spelled that way on purpose real tongue in cheek humor, like jail is paradise and I rolled a pair of dice with my life getting caught up in some serious things. The song later ended up on "Whut?Thee Mixtape ch 1 " which is available on legacythegreatest.bandcamp.com". Really ill track, if you dig Leg's more personal material, you'll love this.

L.E.G.A.C.Y. ft. Joe Scudda & Median "Wanted Man" (prod. by Khrysis): This was made in 2004, during a period where Leg was on bail and facing a lot of time, so he recorded a batch of tracks. Sounds like a cipher of homies letting the brew and burn talk their problems out.

He told me earlier that he's got a shitload of material sitting around, including some more joints that 9th Wonder produced, so expect some more heat. I'll be dropping a compilation of these previously-unreleased gems on May 17th. Watch for that as well!

L.E.G.A.C.Y. Project Mayhem Sampler Tape

Here's a 20-minute sampler tape of Project Mayhem cuts, freestyles and a few jawns from Legsclusives that L.E.G.A.C.Y. and 9th Wonder cooked up to give to a North Carolina-based clothing company who was interested in working with Legs back in 2003. The plans ultimately bore no fruit, but the tape has been recovered from the vaults, and it's here for you.

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Answers" x "E True Story"

I hope you guys have been fucking with The Month Of Mayhem so far; Leg just passed a few tracks over, and when I say his old shit is beasting nigga's new shit, I'm definitely not joking.

  • L.E.G.A.C.Y. "Answers" (prod. by 9th Wonder, cuts by DJ MC): Here's a cut circa 2002 with Leg asking you a number of intriguing questions, some rhetorical. Why do you sleep on sick lyricists?
  • L.E.G.A.C.Y. "E True Story" (prod. by Khrysis): This was written in Smithville, NC... in the Johnston County jail. Not sure if being locked down made Leg ponder shit and really put it to pad, but he opens up and breaks down his side of the story on a number of topics. Circa 2003.
Damn. Possibly one of my favorite MCs out there. And you still wanna sleep... May 17th, 5 year anniversary of Project Mayhem! Keep it locked.

L.E.G.A.C.Y "By The Time I Get..."

L.E.G.A.C.Y. "By The Time I Get...": Latest edition of The Month Of Mayhem, with Legs going super hyphy rockstar over Public Enemy's "By The Time I Get To Arizona" instrumental. Full of venom, this freestyle from May 2005 was used as promo for Project Mayhem. Vital.

Bonus Beats L.E.G.A.C.Y. ft. Edgar Allen Floe "2 Sided Coin (original)" (prod. by 9th Wonder)
