Von Pea & The Other Guys ft. Donwill "The Twist"

Less than a year after releasing their 2017 album The Fiasco, Von Pea and The Other Guys are back with another EP, I'm Good Luv, Enjoy, and most recently, they dropped the first single, the Donwill-assisted "The Twist". It's a dope way to reintroduce us to their cipher, seeing as the first time Pea and the Guys linked up was a collab with Tanya Morgan.

"The Twist" is a chilled cut, perfect for your Sunday loungin'. Stream it in full below, and pre-order I'm Good Luv, Enjoy, which drops on September 14, via Bandcamp.

Cold Chillin': Von Pea and The Other Guys Break Down Their New Album, 'The Fiasco'

We're a little over a year of Donald Trump being elected to the office of President of the United States of America; even typing that is weird as shit. And because of how weird and horrific and challenging it's been, heads cope in different ways. If you're me, you write your feelings out while downing bottles of brown liquor. If you're someone like Von Pea, you link up with the Washington, D.C.-based production duo known as The Other Guys and craft what became the 10-track album The Fiasco, which is out now (digitally, with vinyl expected to drop in January of 2018).

Von Pea and The Other Guys Are Back With A New Project, 'The Fiasco'

Back in 2014, Von Pea released To: You, an album that was produced front-to-back by The Other Guys. In a year that's seen projects drop from each, they've linked up together once again for a 10-track album, The Fiasco. From what I've heard, it's going to be a problem, especially if you're a fan of Von's pen.

Don't believe me? Check out these two tracks from the release. "Oh Yeah" features Von Tanya Morgan bredren Donwill on the mic, while Skyzoo and fellow Lessondary member Rob Cave drop bars on "Wires." The Fiasco drops November 24th. Pre-order today.

The Other Guys Provide A Soundtrack For 'The Working Class'

Image via The Other Guys

I don't know about you, but the grind doesn't stop over here. When that work has to be done, you need the proper soundtrack to get through it, which is why I'm digging this new instrumental series The Other Guys are embarking on. Their new EP, The Working Class, is a boom bap-y batch of beats that will help motivate you to be great. Hell, it even features Tanya Morgan's Von Pea on the intro (and yes, that beat is included as an instrumental as well).

You can stream and download The Working Class for $free.99 over on Bandcamp, and grab that new Tanya Morgan album, YGWY$4, while you're at it.

Donwill Is Dropping All Kinds of New Music

I'm not sure if it's because Lessondary finally dropped their album, but I'm loving all of the new Lessondary material that's dropping. Last week, it was a Tanya Morgan cut (produced by Che Grand), and this week, we not only get ANOTHER Che Grand-produced TM track, but we get a full EP from Donwill.

Yes, you read that right.

Che Grand Up and Released A New EP, "Grandiose Patois'

With The Lessondary so close to finally dropping their long-awaited album, I wasn't necessarily expecting new material from Che Grand. I know he'd been working on stuff, but heard nothing about Grandiose Patois, which dropped late last week...and is fire.

It's totally produced by Che, and only has one feature (the homey Von Pea on "Mental"). It shows off the different sides of Che's sound, from the free jazz strumming to the straight up hypnotic hip-hop. Nothing to sleep on, you freaks.

The Lessondary Crew is FINALLY Dropping That Album

I actually feel like an asshole; I'd seen this hit the Internets a bit ago, but life had me from actually peeping it. That kills me, because I feel like I've been waiting for this Lessondary group album for forever already. Think about it: the combined forces of Tanya Morgan, Ilyas, Elucid, Rob Cave, Jermiside, Brickbeats, AND Aeon?! I feel like I've been hearing about this at LEAST since the release of Brooklynati, and it looks like the squad has finally got the project to gether.

This first cut, which is the first cut on the forthcoming Ahead of Schedule, is a hook-less, hyper posse cut that finds the various MCs going for broke over a Brickbeats track. If you listen to this and don't understand why I fucks with them, you need your head examined.

Ahead of Schedule drops on June 24, 2016; pre-order via Bandcamp today.

J.Lately ft. Von Pea & Bambu - "Can't Go For That"

As we all strive to get where we want to go, we have to have theme music that makes us realize the shit we need to avoid. This freebie from J.Lately's Let's Just Be Friends LP (which drops on October 23), is that track. Produced by Oops and featuring Von Pea and Bambu, this one should play loud af when you're just on some "avoiding the bullshit" shit.

Tanya Morgan "12 Minutes At Karriem's" EP

I won't say that I'd heard most of these already, but a dope podcast lead me on a path of discovery that had me rinsing this free Tanya Morgan EP in a previous incarnation a few months back. Donwill and Von Pea snagged a few beats from Karreim Riggin's Alone Together album from 2012 and turned them into this hot 12-minute EP. For freezie.

Von Pea Breaks Down His New Album "To You," Track By Track

Von Pea's new album To You, which is produced by The Other Guys, is out now. He took the time out to do a track-by-track breakdown of this project. You want some dope hip-hop but are tired of mainstream bullshit? Highly recommend you picking this Von Pea album up.

Von Pea - "So East Coast"

If you're sleeping on Von Pea, you're playing yourself. This cut is taken from his forthcoming To You project, which is produced entirely by The Other Guys that drops on November 25. Shit like this makes me proud to be touching the Atlantic, especially during this fall era. It might also be the fact that Von and I are pretty much the same age; his references are perfect for me. Peep the video below, then cop this track right mf'in now.

Audible Doctor ft. Von Pea "F.U.B.U."

WOW! BBAS x Lessondary on this one, featuring some of my favorite cats doing their GD thing on a refreshing beat from the nigra marink! Looks like the good Doctor has his I Think That... free EP is dropping on the 25th of September. Interesting tale here - that feeling that cats are getting that support from heads but the numbers / results aren't there. Shit's crazy. Grab this one for free then support the shit they got for a fee, you fuckboys. Need more artists to go in on the topic this way.
