Mr. Carmack Really Loves Trap

As an old man who is occupying his days with everything but the everyday happenings in the dance music scene, I missed whatever was going on with Mr. Carmack being asked about his trap noodlings. Whatever the case may be, the acclaimed producer dropped I <3 TRAP EP, a three-track EP with trap stylings from three periods in the electronic music genre (2012, 2013, and 2016). The only note on the EP is that all of its inspiration goes to "Hucci, Flosstradamus. Jackal, and Loudpvck," aka some of the fiercest, most consistent producers in the genre during its heyday. Also means you should know what time it is when you press play.

You can grab the full EP over on Bandcamp.

Mr. Carmack Gave Away His Remix of Jay Z and Kanye West's "Otis"

While I'm not sure WHY Mr. Carmack decided to rework Otis Redding's "Try A Little Tenderness" and Jay Z and Kanye West's "Otis," I'm here for it. It's a bit more of a flip of Redding's classic, with Jay's "guess I got my swagger" back line over some live-sounding drums. Swagger certified.

Stream and download this below, and if you dig it, check out more Carmack reworks via his Yellow EP, which he dropped over the summer.

Mr. Carmack Gave Away His Massive 'Yellow' EP

I saw some EDM blogs that shall remain nameless going insane over Mr. Carmack giving away something like 50 tracks. Seeing as I love keeping up with odd shit going down in the world of electronic music, my ears perked up, but I quickly chilled out when I realized that Carmack had just uploaded his massive Yellow EP, which had been floating around Al Gore's Internets since April of this year.

The EP is actually something Carmack released on USB at a pop-up shop in Los Angeles to coincide with a new line of merch, and the heads on Reddit had a field day reconstructing what was actually on the release. There's a LOT on here, including remixes of artists like Ol Dirty Bastard, Beyonce, Drake, Aaliyah, and many, many more. If you dug Craze's "BEATS" mix, you'll love this.

This week, Carmack's site acknowledged the release, giving heads a full playlist with all of the tracks being uploaded to Carmack's SoundCloud account. No word on how long they'll be up, so grab this ASAP.

Mr. Carmack Previews New Material in His latest Triple J Mix

If you're like me, long weekends are made for dope mixes. Mr. Carmack hit Triple J earlier this month, bringing with him a grip of exclusives and unreleased cuts (including a collab with RL Grime and Salva), and the set finally hit the SoundCloud.

Lounging TF out to this one.

Mr. Carmack Released His Ridiculously-Lit 'Red' EP

For those who are unaware, Mr. Carmack's been the truth. Working with everyone from Kehlani to Donnis, dude has perfectly embraced the leftfield, quirky beats scene while allowing more melodic, hypnotic melodies to permeate. It's a dizzying space that will have you turnt, tearing up, and hitting repeat.

Today he dropped his Red EP as a BitTorrent Bundle; I'd recommend just subscribing, as you will get the entire jawn for the cost of your email address. Shit makes sense. Bang out.

Djemba Djemba Let 13 "Leftover Beats" Loose

While not quite getting the accolades of Drake's latest random mixtape/album drop, Djemba Djemba did throw up thirteen "Leftover Beats" on his SoundCloud page. Some might be calling this "basically an album," but I'd slow down from that talk. This feels more like what it says on the tin: a collection of leftovers that Djemba Two Times felt like unleashing. It's also some meta chill shit to vibe to on a chilly President's Day, whether you're at home or out in the world getting that bread. Some dope collabs with Penthouse Penthouse, CZ, and Mr. Carmack... now if we only had that yung download (or purchase) link.
