The Two. Fifteens "Night Swangin"

Over the last three years, The Two. Fifteens have laced RTD with exclusive Halloween mixes. For this year's Halloween festivity, we got something a bit different. Their The Commute Vol. 2 is still months away from release, but we the exclusive drop on "Night Swangin", which will be featured on the project. This is one for those who know their sound: that murky, massive bass, paired with a grip of spooky elements and infectious melodies. It's a haunted delight! Throw this on repeat and when trick-or-treaters hit your door tonight, throw candy corn at them. WE SWANGIN'!

The Two. Fifteens "January Chick"

Might have to dedicate this one to wifey, who's my January chick. This magnificent cut is from The Two. Fifteens' The Commute Vol. 2, which should be out in August. I still owe a mix of their shit, but I might have to redo it. Sound like this is exactly what I'm about and need in my life. Hit the jump for a preview of another new bit from that tape.

The Two. Fifteens On 2/15

I had a brief conversation with one of The Two. Fifteens, whom I'd never spoken with via telephone. It's weird how your Internets works. My man actually hit me up because it was 2/15 and, you know, that's their namesake (although their moniker has nathan to do with post-Valentine's Day). There might be those of you who sleep on RTD, Benji B, XLR8R, Starkey and the other tastemakers who've latched onto the brothers, so it made sense to bring some of you nigras up to speed on their last two releases, The Commute, Vol. 1 and Stripes. Both are examples of the next-level of bass music, and great insight into the melting pot of sounds that things like your Internets can create. Hit the jump for downloads of both, and celebrate 2/15 properly - with The Two. Fifteens! And be on the lookout for Effective When Used After...

The Two. Fifteens - Stripes

It's wild to think that fully-realized albums like this would be dropping for free. Consider this an early Christmas gift. The Two. Fifteens have entrusted RTD to premiere their new album, Stripes, which showcases the next chapter in their evolution. They are already dedicated to massacring whatever speakerbox you choose to put into your whips, but they show off more of their atmospheric side, not just relying on fat bass and big drums to get their point across. I've been championing their music for a bit, and this is the most aware I've heard them. Almost like their other releases have been demos, and this is the full realization of where they are going. A number of these cuts have gotten love from DJs like Starkey and Nappy, and feel like some proper Electronic music for the snow season. Literally. Synths like snowflakes, bass making the earth quake. Some really forward-thinking music here, but you already know what the fuck time it is, right? 2012 should be the truth for these two, trust. For right now, though, soak-up this 11-track opus. Big up Darkie for the artwork.

Disc Jockey Nappy - MANIC

Sometimes, it's hard to believe how long things can take to come out. The mix you're about to partake in, I've rinsed on my own for months. Artwork's been done, all of that. Oddly enough, there are times where delays work in your advantage, and opportunities to present works at a more appropriate time abound. Right now, the clock has just struck Halloween. The night where it's OK to let your freak flag fly, give in to your fears and essentially bug the fuck out. As long as you don't hurt nobody. For this latest mix from DJ Nappy, it morphs from being just a mixture of 40+ tracks (in 62 minutes, no less), but it becomes an audiobook. MANIC tells the story of one's descent into dementia, fueled by the sounds of dubstep, Hip-Hop and their bastard fuckchild, THUGSTEP. Original production from the likes of Silkie, MRK1, Borgore, Downlink, NumberNin6 and The Two. Fifteens (among others), with remix and refix pressure from 16bit, Santi Junior, Hipnotikk, Rastah.Mouse, North Base and plenty more. Turn this one up (loud) and wake the neighbors. Original artwork by Kelsi (click here for the full monty), with a nice addition by Squincy Jones.

The Two. Fifteens - RTD Halloween Mix 2011

For the second Halloween in a row, The Two. Fifteens have cooked up an exclusive mix for you RTD fiends out there. 2011 has been a dope year from them, getting some great looks from the likes of Benji B, Starkey and other major players, as well as putting out projects like The Commute Vol. 1, as well as remix Nappy's "This Is Anger". They've got a grip of heat in the chamber, and are no doubt waiting to put out some serious sounds. I'll keep you locked on all of that, as per usual. For now, take a walk on the spooky side with their latest mix, featuring cuts from Hype Williams (the producer, not the video director), Scientist, Project Pat, Drumma Boy and their own productions. Fucks with this for your weekend - you HAVE to have some parties that this mix could be the soundtrack for very easily.

The Two. Fifteens "Wavy Life"

New heat from The Two. Fifteens; some special spacetrip shit right here. Feels like floating with the clouds. I imagine everytime that bass hits, the clouds shake and form new figures. Love that these brothers can totally arrange their bass-heavy from something menacing for the night into something so vivid and beautiful. Crunked out ballet step right here. Effective When Used After... soon come.

#ThisIsAnger - Out Now!

Just wanted to let all you thugsteppers know that Nappy & Definate's "This Is Anger" EP is available today in all good digital download spots through my RTDLTD imprint. It's been a long time coming - I remember when Nappy laid these vocals down on Definate's nasty riddim, and was in awe at how anthemic this truly is to our movement. Building from that to a full remix project, and securing versions from guys like Spooky, Teeza, Tim Reaper and The Two. Fifteens, as well as introducing heads to the likes of Sheer Dropz and Linton Brown? I feel like this has different flavors for the lovers of this sound - you've got more bouncy, club-ready versions to the darker, more sinister vibes, along with a full-on Jungle rinser and that 215 quirk. I personally tried to build this like the CD maxi singles I would buy back in the day, with a number of variations on a central theme. It's a true testament to what we've been building five years ago - for free. Not sure how often you'll get releases like this from this conglomerate, but there's been a grip of mixes, remixes and refixes given away... support our endeavors and get some BIG tunes to boot!

And here's a final version of Santi Junior's "This Is Anger" refix, under his new guise for all things refixed, Thugsteppa:

The Two. Fifteens "Patch'd Upp Rugby Slapp"

I felt dumb special. Some of my relationships afford me the opportunity to receive pre-release material, with strict instructions. Most of them include "you fucking share this and we'll gut you like the spineless fuck you are", so most of the time I won't even mention I have them. But after a don like Starkey dropped this on 1Xtra, I guess it didn't make sense to hold onto this. The Two. Fifteens feel like they're on the brink, and if they keep churning out beats like this? No telling who will be picking them up. Loving this one - super deep bass, has some dubstep tendencies but a few of you smart rappers should be able to throw a few sixteens on this. If you missed "Extra Cheese Slapp", know that the two of these just got released as promo exclusive jawns. Drop them in your mixes, rattle your speakers with 'em. Do whatever it is you need to do.

The Two. Fifteens "Extra Cheese Slapp"

Well of course, a few days after Benji B drops "Cloudy. Got 'Em" on BBC Radio 1, Starkey drops a few bangers from The Two. Fifteens on MistaJam's 1Xtra show during his mix. One of them is a banger entitled "Patch'dUppRugbySlapp", which isn't available right now, but also features "Extra Cheese Slapp", which got a big premier on XLR8R earlier. It's in the vein of exactly what you expect from these two. LMAO at XL8R almost scoffing at the press description of "what Burial would sound like if he was from South Central", although it's a pretty solid comparison. Fucking bass in this one goes ham, and the bleeps and atmosphere will have you rocking to this one. Proper infectious EDM for the uninitiated. Don't want to say "I told you so", but we are about two years removed from their proper reemergence.

Benji B - Exploring Future Beats (8/18/2011)

While I should be posting this because Objekt touched down for a special mix, I really am fucking with this because Benji B dropped a track from The Two. Fifteens ("Cloudy Got 'Em"), which was featured on the RTD FiF compilation. It's the little things. Be on the lookout for a project with The 215s and a few niggas RTD fucks with. Trust.

[update] This Is Anger EP

I told you guys back in April that the This Is Anger EP was going to be dropping this year. Just got word back from Nu Urban, and the "This Is Anger" EP, with remixes from Spooky, Teeza, Linton Brown, Sheer Dropz, Tim Reaper and The Two. Fifteens will be released digitally on the 19th of September. Nappy and Definate did the damn thing on the original, and these remixes breathe new life into it. Trust. You might think you're ready... but you're not.

The Two. Fifteens The Commute Vol. 1

New compilation of sick bass-fueled bangers from The Two. Fifteens. I've had a couple of these on deck, like "Tap Dance Massacre", "I Shake. Now" and more, and it just has all of the shit I need. "Tap Dance Massacre" is straight dubfunk with a bit of those eerie Aphex Twin melodies creeping around, while in other spots, they bring the sick sublow fury to Nas & Damian Marley's "As We Enter". This is proper dub - they really melt a lot of genres into their cipher, and spit out some pure rum punch on this one. Everyone from Rihanna to Busta Rhymes has a voice on here, with loads of BPMs being touched. Don't sleep. And don't approach this without an open mind. This is the precursor to Effective When Used After, so if you're tardy to the party, this will be your boarding pass. Hop on!
