Bmore has some talents. I think Articulate was the first Baltimore spitter I really got into, and that put me onto Rickie Jacobs, who just blew minds with his consistency. I don’t know how or where Rome Cee fits into that mixture, but dude definitely has a drive all his own, truly going that “extra mile”. He already had USM, PedX and Spksmen putting this out, and hit me up to help spread the word. Had to oblige, especially when I realized how sick everything he had was going. I love the sound of this – has a lot of Soul soaked into these tracks, with beats coming from J. Cardim, E Hill, Swiff D and others, with features including Sean Price, E Major, UllNevaNo and more talented spitters. Rome is someone I imagine would be fun to get drunk with. Not “ha-ha”, tipping cows fun, but someone who’s natural and would be at home having a real conversation as well as just shooting the shit. Has that respect for his family, as well as a dedication to the goals he’s set for himself. If that’s you, let this be your soundtrack.
UllNevaNo ft. Ahhzel "Outer Regions": I had a hand in presenting UllNevaNo’s first Color Brown mixtape, and he’s back for Color Brown Part 2, this time flipping Apollo Brown instrumentals instead of Kev. This one is set to drop in the Fall, via Mix Bullies and Brick To Ya Face. Just some spaced out shit to lift off to. I love when people use today’s technology to craft albums. Back in the early to mid ‘90s, unless you had the ability to travel, you wouldn’t be able to make music with those you fucked with in distant lands. Hell, you might not even know some cats existed! These days, trading Pro Tools sessions or, hell, just sending acapella .wav files is nothing. Anyone can collaborate, and in using BBM/AIM/e-mail or whatever, themes can be cultivated states and countries apart. Now, UllNevaNo and Logic did the same thing, and while they’re not that far apart, it’s just great to know that dream collabos are just a broadband connect away. Their free EP dropped today, via mixbullies, and is a great primer for Ull and Logic’s forthcoming album, Protocol. Nothing but pure Hip-Hop – great samples, rhymes etched in composition notebooks that are stuffed in Jansports, and overall fly alternative shit to what’s currently poppin’ on the radio. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.
UllNevaNo x Logic Marselis "Wowsers": The DMV is heavy on this track, with VA’s Logic and Bmore’s UllNevaNo linking up for a mixbullies.com-presented Instant Messengers FreEP that’ll be out sooner than you can imagine. This is some dope Hip-Hop, no additives or preservatives, created in a proper Internets style (trading vocals and beats via broadband connections). Love the way Logic keeps introducing the original sample, so you can hear how fly his beat is when it drops back in. Kind of shit you would ride to, waiting to hop into the cipher. Need a Jansport to fuck with this one properly!
UllNevaNo "Horror Flick": If you recall, 2010 showcased a number of fine talents, including the boy UllNevaoNo. Gifted MC that he is, he dropped The Color Brown mixtape with RTD and UnderSound / Agio this past August, and in 2011, he has The Color Brown vol. 2 mixtape, which will be presented by BrickYoYaFace.com and Mixbulles.com. Expect that tape to drop this summer.

Action Figures "You" (prod. by Knowledge): The Action Figures supergroup consists of UllNevaNo and J-Berd on the mic, with Knowledge and DJ Minus Nine on the boards. This is a leftover from their Fresh Out The Box release, but they have a new album on the way. Shit sounds like a bunch of superheroes flying over an urban metropolis, fighting crime and shit.
This one has been cultivated for a bit - I think I hipped you guys to UllNevaNo's The Color Brown Mixtape back in January, and now this marriage of UllNev rhymes and Kev Brown beats is here, brought to you by UnderSound Music, Agio Life and RTD. And what a perfect combo it is - some of that beautiful "real Hip-Hop", expertly mixed by DJ Harvey Dent, with features from Mic Brown, E-Major, Tislam The Great, Richard Wright and Mic Wilson, all who add a certain something to this project.
