While I'm not sure he realized it, after presenting Mic Wilson's Square One: My Radio, it's fitting that Phase Two drops on my birthday, no? Not only do you get the full version of "Follow Along", but you get Michael Scott clips, introspective lyrical wizardry, and a grip of bangers from YN's lil' brother. One of the best birthday presents I've gotten in a while! Hit the jump for PreZZure's thoughts on the project, and of course the links to dload the opus.
Finally got the Night Creatures album, which features cuts from Elucid, PreZZure (no Mic Wilson?) and Mandeep on the mic, with some SICK instrumental sounds as well. Hit the jump for this 10 month labor of funk.
Mic Wilson "Follow Along [snippet]": Mic's Phase Two has a release date: October 10th. Lots of shit goes down near my birthday, and this project is one of the shits. Only this isn't shit in the stinky foul sense - this shit is DOPE! Nice 2 minute preview - love the wailing in the beat. "This joint make a smart mufucka go ignant!", indeed.
This one has been cultivated for a bit - I think I hipped you guys to UllNevaNo's The Color Brown Mixtapeback in January, and now this marriage of UllNev rhymes and Kev Brown beats is here, brought to you by UnderSound Music, Agio Life and RTD. And what a perfect combo it is - some of that beautiful "real Hip-Hop", expertly mixed by DJ Harvey Dent, with features from Mic Brown, E-Major, Tislam The Great, Richard Wright and Mic Wilson, all who add a certain something to this project. Open something (guts, blunts or bottles) up to this and reminisce/rediscover the true school.
Mic Wilson "Tunnel Love": When The Roots' How I Got Over dropped, I was amazed by the "Tunnel Vision" interlude, so much so that I tweeted about why this hadn't been made a song. Of course Mr. Merk Early hits me like "I'm already plotting it"; he hits me like "Merk Late", but we all know no one else was trying to coast over this. Nice ditty for the summertime flex, like detailing a niggas thought's while he's riding the train.
Been a month since Mic Wilson turned the "Lights Out", and with PreZZure.net turning 2 today, he passed me a couple of jawns from Phase Two, which is out on August 31st...
Mic Wilson "Reach Out": Love the sample on this one, and he goes off on those succulent females that cats are scoping out... everywhere. Those ones you just want to reach out and... yeah, you get me. Nice use of the vocal in the sample, too.
Mic Wilson "Good Times": Hah, Mic ain't playing around with these beats man! Here's something to tip your glasses to.
Two dope, quick shots... might get another one in the VERY near future.
Mic Wilson "Lights Out": Well goddamn! I told Mic I was callin' him #MerkEarly, because he has come out the box DUMB QUICK with these tracks on your newest/latest rapper's jawns. We already went with the "Rajon Rondo", and now homey goes in on that new Drake ft. Jay-Z "Light Up" cut that's had your Internets going bananas overnight. Not sure how he does it, but I'm glad he does. Phase Two is on the way, trust and believe!
Mic Wilson "Rajon Rondo": Been on the low sending some of my favorite MCs some instrumentals, hoping to see what comes about. How did I know that @Mic_Wilson would hit me back dumb early with his take on that new T.I. banger (and not the sappy radio saccharine single). We stay playing hard... don't even!
UllNevaNo ft. Richard Wright & Mic Wilson "Heavy Handed": Welcome surprise! UllNevaNo's The Color Brown mixtape is dropping this Summer via Undersound Music, Agio Clothing and RTD, and I know he got Mic on a track, just wasn't expecting Rich Wright, too! This is a funky one - three emerging artists shining over this down home groove.
Been waiting for this one to drop, too. Featuring the entire Elite Assembly collective (which includes Brokn.Englsh, Deal - The Villain, St.JoeLouis, Mic Wilson, Daniel Joseph, Rew Mec, Khi Khobane and Premium The Delegate), this tape drops some serious heat from a tight-knit crew. If you've followed any of these artists over the last year, you should know a few of these, but hearing the previous leaks, alongside the new shit? It's hard to find another conglomerate that's touching EA. At all. Download links and tracklist after the jump.
UllNevaNo "Rock, Paper, Scissors": 2nd leak from @UllNevaNoHipHop's The Color Brown mixtape, which is still on track to drop this Summer on RTD. I had seen them tweeting, but it looks like its official - Mic Wilson will be collaborating w/ Ull for a track on Color Brown! Salivate over that while you rock to this.
The Elite Assembly has been on a tear right now, and one project I've been waiting for is Mic Wilson's. On the low, he's one of the more talented MCs I've been introduced to on these here internets. I still love how I asked if he'd be down to contribute to Offshore Drilling, and within three hours he had "Never Say Never" done. That was in his PreZZure days - this is his first full project as Mic Wilson, and I'm proud to present you with Square One: My Radio. Hit the jump for the tracklist, stream and download links.
Mic Wilson "Chase My Dreams": Early March, I told you Square One: My Radio would be dropped on RTD in March 2010; that's come and gone, but with two tracks left to complete, Mic's got thangs covered. Follow the god as he chases after those dreams. How can you stay driven if you don't have a goal, yasmellme?
Mic Wilson "Believe": Ah yes, Square One. Mic Wilson will be dropping this with RTD this month, March 2010. It sounds like it'll be a more personal thing from Mic, as he says "This song has been lingering in my head for the past few weeks...I can say this is my anthem at the moment...Starting at "Square One" is result of a lot of things that happen soon as 09' ended....All of that will be explained in this project....Till then...Believe".
Mic Wilson "David Robinson (50 Bars)": Recently, with his migration to his new name, the homey Mic Wil went into self-imposed exile, taking a hiatus from music and other points of life. I was getting worried, and when "The Brink" came on yesterday, something told me to hit Mic like "yo, what's good? why you stop". So of COURSE he was on twitter yesterday, tweetin' excitedly about his new project that should be seeing the light of day! Good to have you back, and this 50 Bar RTD Exclusive is a great intro to Square 1: My Radio, which might drop mid-March. Enjoy these 50 and be on the lookout for more.
Mic Wilson "The Brink" (prod. by Deal - The Villain): Back when "Exhibit Me" dropped, PreZZure said that he'd no longer be using the "PreZZure" name in regards to his music. So, let the Steven Michael Wilson era commence. And over this heatrock produced by DTV (plugEPic is available now! plug), it looks like we still have to regard dude as a problem. Elite Assembly keeps it rockin'; let the games begin!
