Jett I. Masstyr Stands Tall, Proclaims 'I Know God and He Chops Like This'

What an amazing title for a two-track single. RTD favorite Jett I. Masstyr is back with the phenomenally titled I Know God and He Chops Like This, which is an amazing example of knowing your worth. The tracks are HAWD: drums smack you upside the head, strings transport you to new dimensions, and bass rumbles the very earth you're walking on. Dude's not bullshitting (sorry, Black Jesus), and is down to prove it.

Grab both tracks on Bandcamp ASAP, and stream the full single below.

Jett I. Masstyr Returns With 'The Upside Sessions'

The homie Jett I. Masstyr is no stranger to this URL. We've seen him grow and evolve for a while now, and each new project feels like the next chapter in his sound. The Upside Sessions, which dropped roughly a week ago, is no exception.

"The Upside Sessions," Jett shared, "is a collection of tracks made mostly in 2017. They remained unused until now. I always use where I am at in life to guide my inspiration behind projects."

"Once you reach certain levels in life," the Houston-representing producer continued, "you can find yourself at a new bottom, and another level in front of you to achieve. There's a level of optimism needed to be successful. Even when things aren't the most positive around you...you can control that. I'm definitely searching and looking forward to the upside."

Deep, motivational words for a truly intriguing project. Stream it in full below, and download it from one of these digital retailers today.

Small Professor Gets Freaky With 'Nasty Jawns IV'

Quiet as kept, Small Professor's getting the love in 2017 that I figured he should've been getting years back. Not only does he have a single with the late and legendary Sean Price under his belt, but, alongside Zilla Rocca, he's 1/2 of Career Crooks, who put out one masterpiece of an album, Good Luck With That. Delving deeper into his mental, Small Pro drops Nasty Jawns IV, a collection of NSFW-sounding instrumentals that blend the boom bap with the ass clap.

It's interesting; I remember growing up as a kid and listening to Prince or other R&B acts using actual sexual moans and sounds in the music and feeling mad dirty. Something about the carnal act being so private that committing it to wax felt like the ultimate sin. I'm a grown ass man, and now I just laugh at syrupy-slick Small Pro beats incorporating all kinds of sounds that reside for $free.99 over on XNXX.

Get your grown up on via Bandcamp.

Jett I. Masstyr Reflects On His 'Wonderful' 2017 With New Instrumental LP

Despite the fact that Donald Trump is the current President of the United States, it's not like 2017 was all bad...right? OK, maybe that's a bit of a stretch. Doesn't mean you can't rejoice in the goodness that's come from the last year of life. That feel seems to be what pushed Jett I. Masstyr to construct his latest instrumental album, Wonderful.

"This past year for me has been a year of setbacks and steps forward on every level," Jett says. "I've put out more music this year than in the last 3-4 years combined. Wonderful is how I'm feeling, despite the ups and downs...things could be worse. But since we're all here, might as well call it what it is, Wonderful."

Stream the full project below, and if you're digging it, cop it via Bandcamp. While you're at it, check out this feature Micro Chop did on Jett I. Masstyr.

J. Slikk Returns To Warn Us That 'Sometimes It Snows'

I was going to say it'd been a long ass time since I'd heard material from Chitown's J. Slikk, but that's a goddamn lie. Slikk produced R.O.E.'s "The Race," and cooked up a heartfelt tribute to DJ Timbuck2 at the top of 2016. Thing is, when Slikk was really on his dean, RTD was following all of his moves, so it feels like he dropped off the face of the Earth. He didn't (praise Jah), as his new instrumental LP Sometimes It Snows proves, as he's got 16 free, fiery instrumentals for the taking.

There's a number of dates in these titles ("12.21.17," "2.15.18," and "3.22.18") that I'm not sure hold any meaning, but he did let me know that this is the first of three(!) albums, with two of them already done. He also said he's blessed, and it looks like he decided to bless the world with some intoxicatingly hypnotic material.

You can stream the full project below, and grab it for the free on Bandcamp.

Jon Glass Created An Amazing Beat Tape In Eight Hours

Image via Facebook

You ever hear an idea so dope that you have to figure out a way to replicate it one day? This is one of those ideas. On August 12, Jon Glass stepped into the Mass Apparel shop in Massachusetts to work an eight-hour shift. No, he wasn't stocking shelves; he was crafting instrumentals of their The Shift beat tape series. He locked in, knocking out this impressive, seven-track release of hypnotic headnodders.

The beauty of Glass' work is the variety of tracks he has here. While tracks like "Fly Shit" are more of a hazy, sloooooooooowed vibe, cuts like "D-Block" get way grittier. "Shroom" might be on some ultra chill shit, but then "This Is Hip Hop" is a dusty-fingered, double bass'd boom bap-er. Dude really knows his shit.

You can stream and download the full project via Audiomack.

Jett I Masstyr's California Dreamin' On His New 'L A X' EP

As we head into the beginnings of a beautiful August day, it's only right to get your lounge on, LA-style. The Houston-based homey Jett I Masstyr has the perfect EP for you. On L A X, Jett produced a five-track instrumental love letter to the city of Angels.

"I love going to Los Angeles," Jett shares, "whether its to work on music or just visit. I've never spent more than a few days, and it's never long enough. Immediately after landing, I can sense it's a different world...a different vibe completely."

If you need that type of vibe in your life, you can stream L A X down below, and cop the full release via Bandcamp.

The Other Guys Provide A Soundtrack For 'The Working Class'

Image via The Other Guys

I don't know about you, but the grind doesn't stop over here. When that work has to be done, you need the proper soundtrack to get through it, which is why I'm digging this new instrumental series The Other Guys are embarking on. Their new EP, The Working Class, is a boom bap-y batch of beats that will help motivate you to be great. Hell, it even features Tanya Morgan's Von Pea on the intro (and yes, that beat is included as an instrumental as well).

You can stream and download The Working Class for $free.99 over on Bandcamp, and grab that new Tanya Morgan album, YGWY$4, while you're at it.

Fresh off an EP with Ray Strife, Omega's back with Omegatron, a 14-track instrumental release that's as dark as it is turnt. It's primarily of a hip-hop flex, although some of the more EDM-tinged trap tracks are nothing to sleep on.

J-Live Is Releasing The Instrumentals To Some Of His Illest Productions

j-live-actual-tracks-vol-1
Image via J-Live
One of my favorite things about the legend J-Live is that he's a triple threat. There are a number of rapper-producers, and DJ-producers, but it's rare that you see a rapper who is just as talented of a producer as he is a DJ; hell, have you seen him perform "Braggin' Writes" live on the decks? Phenomenal.

Live has recently released Actual Tracks Vol. 1, the first in a series of self-produced instrumentals from his previous works. We're talking from his 16-year, nine-release catalog. It's structured like a mixtape, and is a DOPE time capsule of how one of the nicest emcees ever to do it gets busy on the boards.

I think I really got into his work via his All of the Above album, which featured a cut entitled "Whatever." It's a parody of rappers building themselves up to start rhyming, but never getting to the end. Finally, 15 years later, he's dropped "Whatever Revisited." AKA the wait is over!

You can stream Actual Tracks Vol. 1, and grab the full release via Bandcamp.

Paul White is Here With 'Everything You've Forgotten'

If you're not up on the UK-based producer Paul White, you might not be paying attention. In 2016 alone, he contributed 10(!) tracks to Danny Brown's acclaimed album Atrocity Exhibition—and has been working with Danny since XXX—and dropped an album with Open Mike Eagle, Hella Personal Film Festival. If you needed more of his blunted, sample-heavy sound, he's unleashed a free beat tape, Everything You've Forgotten, which is 19 tracks of excellence sprawled out over a 29-minute journey.

You can stream the full project down below, and grab it via Bandcamp.

Jeremy Ian Thomas - "She Waits"

I woke up today actually feeling OK, but in the last half hour or so started feeling some type of way. It drew me to the music of Jeremy Ian Thomas, who's dropping his The Emerald Tablet project on December 9. Shouts to Rappers I Know for putting me on; these kind of soothing, serene tracks help ease the nonsense of the daily grind. Fuck the dumb, use music to numb...or something.

88-Keys Shared Some Beats "From Mom & Dad's Basement"

17 free beats from 88-Keys. You'll definitely know one of these as something Mos Def used. Here's what he had to say: "So I found this beat tape I made (my guess is back in '01) in my parents' basement today out in West Hempstead, NY. I sold one beat on here to Mos Def which was used for his song... Ahhh, just do you homework. Jay-Z recorded a song to one of the other beats on here as well but I never heard it (still to this day)."
