Did you cop your Ace of Spades yet? I didn't... I'm not a big sparkling wine man... but I do love Hip-Hop. Just a few quick announcements:

Sometime this week, this blog will be going down. Why? Well, I recently purchased http://www.rockthedub.com/, and plan on moving this blog to that domain. To do this, it might take 12-24 hours. I got plans and shit, so I'd imagine before the end of the week. Joy.

Also, I am working out a format/schedule, but last night I tested out a SHOUTcast show my peoples at NovaShells hooked up (they've got the ill deals on UNIX & IRCD shells, servers, shoutcast packages and all of that); we tested out the sounds, and yes, Hip-Hop and DnB @ 128kbps sounds PERFECT on it. This will be an extension of my rock the dub radio show for WGHH Radio - focusing on more ignornant Hip-Hop and loads more DnB - I'm thinking split shows. We'll see. So that is on the horizon - be on the lookout!

Another Monday, another episode of rock the dub radio. This edition features a host of basketball-themed joints, ranging from Kurtis Blow to the Wu. I threw in tracks that either outright reference basketball, or do it more subtly (like Biggie's "I've Got A Story to Tell", where he sleeps with a chick going with a New York Knick, then robs dude), or just would sound hype on your favorite blacktop/court. Just sending the word out that the latest edition of rock the dub radio (episode 008 for those who are counting), will be premiering on WGHH Radio tonight, 10PM EST. Since the 2007-08 NBA season started the other day, I made it with a Basketball-theme. Loads of roundball-related interludes and tunes; whether it's a track dedicated to hoops or something that references hoops, it's in there. Someone is hatin' on rock the dub radio. Due to an unfortunate incident involving Jay-Z's "Blue Magic", my divshare account files got ganked. I just re-upped all of the archives (rock the dub radio episodes 001-005), and will be linking them here.

The thing is, the rock the dub radio podcast's host site (podOmatic) had some problems with RAID and the majority of the data stored got ganked. I had the last 3 shows on there (episodes 004-006), and the data seems to be lost. Until I have the disposable loot to host the shows on my own, I'm rollin' with them, and I wasn't keeping each show on there anyways, but I'm just lettin' you guys know what the deal is. Growing up as a shorty in the Golden Era of Hip-Hop, one thing I always loved was hearing the original track that some of my favorite artists sampled. rock the dub radio: episode 002

Did you miss rock the dub radio this past Thursday? Yeah, so did I... it didn't play at it's regular time, but if you kept your ears to WGHH Radio, it did get rinsed over the weekend (I see you, Chad)! In any case, that's why I have a podcast! This week's show, the 2nd, was a treat to make. Spent a good amount of time making sure it flowed well - I hope you like it!

The first half hour features a load of J Dilla-related tracks, then just goes off after that. Peep the Boondocks-related interludes every half-hour or so. Also some unsigned hype in there (Joulz Il Duce, S.I.N., Jay Eff Kay and Tha S Ence - don't sleep!)...

rock the dub radio: episode 001 rewind

So, quietly, a fuse was lit on Saturday night. The sparker? WGHH Radio. The explosive material? Your's truly, and his new incarnation: rock the dub radio.

As bootleg as we may be (no drops? no talking? NO MIXING?!), rtd radio still shines down, giving you some of the freshest Hip-Hop in the land. This initial show was broken into 1 hour themes (loose, yes, but themes nonetheless). Hour 1 was a sort of Jay-Z tribute/themed affair. It had Jay on Hot 97 back in the Fall of '06 (right before Kingdom Come dropped), murking "Grammy Family". Featured as well were illness from the likes of NozL, Little Brother, Peedi Crakk, Joe Budden, Erick Sermon, and Busta Rhymes alongside some Jay cuts that might be a bit under the radar ("Trouble", "Regrets", "Nigga Please", etc.) for kicks. Hour 2 kicked it up a notch with a new-shit heavy selection from guys like Fabolous (w/ Pusha T), Gucci Mane (w/ Ludacris), BG (w/ Young Jeezy), and 50 Cent, and even got a twinge of Grime/Dubstep in at the end. This was all held together by a few choice Mike Tyson quottables. Classic material. We even have it streamed (download links to come soon):

WGHH Radio presents: rock the dub radio

Anyone wanna make me a logo?

Anyways, Chad and the good peeps over at WGHH Radio have gone and asked me to do some programming for them. The first rock the dub radio experiment will be dropping tonight, 10PM-12AM EST. WGHH provides progressive Hip-Hop, so I think my selection more than fits that tagline... this week's show features a kind of dedication to Jay-Z in the 1st hour, but features new shit from Little Brother, Saigon, Busta Rhymes and others. Hour 2 is the bugout, with new spit from David Banner, 50 Cent, Gucci Mane (ft. Ludacris), even some UK Grime and whatnot. It's hot.
