First Combat Jack show for 2011, and they bring the pain. They have the #Mixxie niggas in studio, breaking down their sudden rise to Internets fame (if you wanna call it that) and freestyling, Jack officially announces his position at The Source, dead birds and they really listen to Lil' B - for good or ill. Should be an interesting year for what should be your favorite (eff yo) radio show, period.
This week, I had wanted to drop a #niggameme a day, showcasing some of the videos related to niggas that had me rollin' all year. Of course that didn't happen. Oddly enough, @EnigmatikBGDB got two treats from me on NYE - his Bulls beating my Nyets made me change my twicon, and I threw all of these #niggamemes into a glorious NiggaNet post for BGDB. These are the YouTube videos I couldn't stop watching, from General Larry Platt to "Shawt Bus Shawty" to the Epic Beard Man. Not sure you know what I'm talking about? All the goods are HERE. If you fuck with that, PLEASE leave a comment. I'm trying to do those yearly.
Yesterday, a video of Eli Porter speaking his mind on the infamous "Iron Mic" battle and where he's at now surfaced. In it, he mentioned a mixtape and a documentary being on the way. This morning, I woke up to a link to a trailer for the documentary, People's Champion, which looks like it has interviews with Marv-o, J-Dub and other cats from the original battle program at their high school. Wow.
Wow. I thought this E Dolla shit might be a joke, but this nigga just dropped a video explaining what he has coming, including a mixtape that drops sometime in July... AND A MIXTAPE!? Check it out:
Homey is looking for collabs - he's even on Skype! Get at him!
I'm fucking up over here; I've not done much in the way of Black History Month posts this year. Nor have I ever watched Tosh.0. Why not merk two pigeons with one post by hitting you guys with a double-dose of Tari Smalls on Tosh.0. I know @EnigmatikBGDB would be proud. More after the jump.
Bun B "Pants On The Ground" (prod. by Double O): *DEAD*. Why did it take so long for someone to do this? This is classic shit, I know Enigmatik wishes his PC was working so he could fuck with this. Word from Shake is that No Mixtape drops on Monday (2/1/2010), with a hard copy dropping in LRG stores? Be on the lookout.
Wait, what? Is this really Eli Porter? The nigga who murdered Envy in a classic freestyle battle? This nigga sounds like he fathered Gucci Mane, Soulja Boy and all them remedial niggas' styles. Especially with that "hahahahaaaaaa" shit. Wow. I'm truly amazed. This sounds like Eli grew up - in the tone of his voice, that is.
If this is truly Eli, all praise due to Bol (or noz).
These oldhead niggas say that their 1996 track, "Back Pockets On The Floor", was bit by Larry Platt, who has been wylin' that people aren't giving him props/paper for "Pants On The Ground". Check out The Green Brothers on an old Whodini set, tellin' you guys to dress right:
General Larry Platt "Pants On The Ground (J. Slikk Remix)": Why yes, yes this is the best Larry Platt remix I've heard. I had a feeling one of my peoples was going to put this hilarity into proper context. Love how Slikk even drops the beat at key moments. I literally LOL'd on the busstop this morning listening to this. With so much pain going on right now, take a minute and 16 seconds and laugh a little.
I call him a reject, but dude's a winner. 62 years young, looks like he still keeps in shape, and while its repetitive and hilarious, "Pants On The Ground" is a message that's been echoed for the last few years:
