Mr. Carmack Released His Ridiculously-Lit 'Red' EP

For those who are unaware, Mr. Carmack's been the truth. Working with everyone from Kehlani to Donnis, dude has perfectly embraced the leftfield, quirky beats scene while allowing more melodic, hypnotic melodies to permeate. It's a dizzying space that will have you turnt, tearing up, and hitting repeat.

Today he dropped his Red EP as a BitTorrent Bundle; I'd recommend just subscribing, as you will get the entire jawn for the cost of your email address. Shit makes sense. Bang out.

St Joe Louis Proves That It's Truly 'Cloud Club > Everything'

Yeah, yeah; it took St. Joe Louis five years to follow up their debut project, but fuck it, good things come to those who wait. As they put it, Cloud Club > Everything was born from "multiple smoke-filled studio sessions [that] became debaucherous all night parties," and that them to finally "manage to piece together a complete project from top to bottom. The results of the cave dwelling, bacchanalian chaos, the movement dubbed "The Cloud Club" was born."

Featuring everyone from Fresh Daily and Peter Hadar to Nemo Achida and Nameliss, this is a VERY necessary follow-up. Lose your minds to this.

I first heard DonMonique at the last No Ceilings showcase that P&P and Staple put on, and I wasn't mad. If you haven't peeped, she dropped her Thirst Trap EP this week, produced entirely by Stelios Phili. If you want some of that slick talk, she's got you covered.

Apollo Ali - "Gravity"

In a track dedicated to the city of Camden, NJ, Apollo Ali (fka Apollo The Great), we hear something we've not heard from Apollo before: sangin'. And I respect it. It's still hard enough to mob to, but this is more cruisin' slow while reflecting on life in the urban jungle.

This is taken from Contradiction, which is out now.

Junclassic Releases "The Soul Thief" EP

While Rap Twitter has gone in on this Drake vs. Meek Mill beef today, it's dope to have great artists pushing ill music. The homey Junclassic sent over his Soul Thief EP, which he says is "a passionate excursion through the 'hood detailing the trials and tribulations of the urban environment and one's ambition to thrive despite being surrounded by despair and discouragement."

So while others are either chiming in on the convo or spending their nights slandering those chiming in on the convo, you can at least have a fire soundtrack to go along with it.

Stray Might Have Dropped the Best Mix of 2015

Not sure about you, but I listen to mixes all of the time. I love those journeys. Ever since I got hooked on the music Stray makes, I realized that he's one of my favorite DJs doing it right now. He takes all of those influences and knows how to weave them perfect. Total mood music, and it keeps me going. His latest, to hype his recently-released (and very dope) Paradise EP, is 90 minutes of pure bliss, trust we. If you love jungle music just as much as you love J Dilla, you need this.

Young B Emcee Was 'Born Blessed'

"I keep the rapping cocky, but the deen humble." If you're not up on Young B Emcee, aka Brandon Young, you need to be. You've seen him before; he played reporter Mike Fletcher on the final season of The Wire, and has also been featured on shows like Bones and Do No Harm. He's an LA-based, Philly-born MC I've had my eyes on for a bit, though, and I'm glad he laced me with his new Born Blessed EP. He's that amazing mixture of lyrical swiftness and grown man assuredness that speaks to someone like me.

Everything on this is produced by Reverb except for the HaZ SOLO-produced "Speech is free.," which also has a video. It even features some real talk from Andre Royo, aka Bubbles from The Wire on a track called "Baltimore." You need this.

Michael Cardigan & Tommie Chase - "Gold Slippers"

For those who really rock with the dub, you'll remember this five-year-old St. Joe Louis release, 30,000 Ft. High and Rising, which we helped distribute with Refined Hype and Potholes in my Blog. To celebrate that five-year marker, the trio is back with another release, Cloud Club Over Everything, which is due out on July 26th. To get you hyped for that, two-thirds of the crew (Michael Cardigan and Tommie Chase) went in over some heavenly Swiff D production for "Gold Slippers." Short and sweet; something to get your appetite ready for the real shit. CC/Everything.

RIP Prolyfik

Damn, this is nuts. While I can't find details on his passing (I've reached out to a few heads regarding this situation), I'm getting word that South Philly's Prolyfik, of the mighty Mortal Shellz, passed away earlier this week. Pro isn't someone I can say I knew, but I definitely knew of him. As I started attending the Garden Variety shows in Trenton, as well as the Jersey Fresh Jams, his was a friendly face that was always around... and always down to rip a mic, especially when his brother Esoge was with him.

UPDATE 7/03/15 6:17PM: While unconfirmed, word is that Prolyfik (real name Jason Nigro) was involved in a car accident on Route 55 in South Jersey. There was an accident on June 30th that took the life of one man after a car collided with a tractor-trailer. An obituary for Jason Nigro hit the papers today, saying that he passed away on June 30th as well—for those wondering, there will be a memorial celebration for Prolyfik at the Vincent Gangemi Funeral Home in Philadelphia this coming Tuesday night. Prolyfik is survived by his parents, two brothers, a fiance, and many other relatives. He was 33-years-old at the time of his passing.

UPDATE 7/03/15 8:03PM: Friends of Prolyfik are confirming that it was in fact the accident on Route 55 on June 30th that took Prolyfik's life.

Our condolences go out to Prolyfik's family, friend, and crew. As I get more details, I'll update this post. Word is this Sunday's edition of Side-B Radio will be dedicated to Prolyfik. For now, dig into some of his old bangers.
