Crushing blow to the DJ community. Looks like Technics will be stopping production of their 1200 and 1210 line of turntables in February 2010, due to "an increasing decline in sales", which makes sense given the rise of CDJs, Serato boxes and other vinyl killers. With cats like DJ AM and Roc Raida passing away, 2009 has been a huge deathblow to the art of the turntablist, shit I followed intensely for like 2 or 3 years in the late 90s. While I know Hip-Hop isn't dead, and DJs will still adapt and find their own lane with emerging technology, this won't bode well for vinyl enthusiasts.Today's a Black Friday indeed.
