RTDLTD005 finds an interesting tune from Finland’s Mass Production, who draws inspiration from subwoofer-merkers like Dillinja and that lot.
“DMT” stands for Dimethyltryptamine, a psychedelic drug that’s natural both in plants, but is created in small doses by our own bodies. Mass Production takes cue from a Joe Rogan interview explaining how the DMT trip works, and seeks to mirror the effects in a DnB meltdown of crisp, funky drums, woofer-testing sub-low bass and loads of synth washes and EFX. No wonder DJ Grooverider used to drop the dubplate of “DMT” on Radio 1 a few years back!
The VIP Mix of “DMT” gives listeners a slightly-altered take on the core elements, bringing a more Hip-Hop-influenced beat into the intro, as well as some alternate audio bits from the Rogan interview, bringing out more viewpoints and odd quips on a confusing, complex drug that many people might not even be aware of.
Look for more from Mass Production on RTDLTD in the future.
