I won’t say I forgot about Shawn, but I was amazed and shocked (and mad) that I didn’t remember that he was on the bill for last month’s Garden Variety show, and was also glad he was there. Straight out of Trenton, dude’s a lot for showcasing the underground that lives strong in the tri-state, and recently exercised just that point with the release of this EP. Six tracks deep, with three produced by The Custodian of Records, Shawn encompasses what the four (five?) elements of Hip-Hop are, and on tracks like “Face The Clock”, twists them into some comic book lore with a very unhappy ending. Features include Sadat X, FEED, Big Snuff and others, but really, it’s Shawn’s show. Wish Shawn and Self did a full project together right… now!
